Dark Melee / SR build

Hi all,
So the next toon I'm planning (may be a while but what the hey) will be Dark / SR I think. Did my build at home but my dog ate it sir.

So couple of questions:
Does Dark Consumption mean I can do without Stamina? The defensive toggle powers will all have 1-2 end redux in em

What sort of attack chain should I be going for? The build had way too many attacks in it (all primary bar the Taunt I think plus Air Sup). I was thinking of dropping Air Sup. Shadow Punch and / or Shadow Maul

Builds most welcome too. I'm not much of a meleer. My Spines / Dark scrapper I renamed the Glass Landmine due to his tendency to explode violently followed by faceplanting. This single target based build might be a better move.

No, Dark consumption does not mitigate stamina. Infact I found with stamina I didnt even need dark consumption. It was just nice as a little bit of AoE damage after a soul drain.

My attack chain goes Smite, Maul, MG. Would maybe like to fit shadow punch in too but didnt have the space, Might be a bit of a lacklustre chain for some but I had a SBer with me so it chained well.

Cant post my build up from work, But I can do once I get in.

You need stamina, you really, really do. I'd say take all attacks and AS, and respec the lowest damage attack out after L32. I'll get Cynic to post his build when he gets online

Cool. Ta guys.

With Stamina too its gonna be a tight old build, but 3 slotted Health will be useful to me too. I'll redo tonight and try and bring in for broadcast tomorrow.

I have a DM/DA without stamina

Yeah, I tend to rely on Dark Consumption for endurance, and that works well most of the time, but I don't run all of my shields all of the time, since most of them I find situational (you won't need to worry about this as you don't have DA). Having a Speed Boost or AB/RA friendly Empath around does wonders for the soul..

But pleease dont drop Shadow Maul! It's a fantastic power, it really is.

Shrug.

OK now I need to find my build.

Stamina HELL YEAH is my first thought. Attack chain for me is midnight grasp, Shadowmaul, Smite, Dark Blast, Shadowmaul, Midnight grasp.......... all around them, but have got Air Supp.

Pre 32 I had Shadow Punch, Shadow Maul, Smite and Air Sup as my attack, until then I really needed Shadow Puncuh.

And damn dont have a saved build, if you want me to I can try and put one together, I took Dark Mastery secondry.

Attacks I never needed Siphon Life & Taunt. Shadow Punch is not needed at high levels.

Oh and on the shields, the 3 main shields from SR seem to use more end than the 3 damage resitances, Cloak Of Darkness and Acrobatics combined. So yeah end is an issue.

Stamina is more useful than DC, but don't drop DC completely. With three bad guys round you, it gets your endurance to full and damages them to boot.

My attack chain is shadow punch/air auperiority/smite/maul. I don't use the tentacle thing, tried it, respecced it out. Same with Touch of Fear, though I may respec that back in again. I also never use taunt, but thats a personal preference, I know a lot of scrappers love their taunts. Every person who has taken the DM powerset has a different opinion on it and virtually everybody has taken and dropped different powers. I suggest playing with it and respeccing when you aren't happy. One piece of advice I do stick to though is that the first three attacks in the set can form the basis of a very effective attack chain and often as shadow punch is dropped by many, I suggest you take it at level 1 and use it. In the early levels it can be very frustrating waiting for the other attacks to recharge and SP makes a nice gap-filler until it's slotted and does damage that is useful.

Stamina and DC do different things - it's well worth having both of them. Stamina makes it easier to have a bunch of toggles running conctantly, but DC will fill your blue bar right up when you need it most, which is invaluable.

Personally I've found Siphon Life to be extremely valuable. A self heal is really useful for SR and it helps to fill out the attack chain at low levels as well - it has a bad name because it doesn't help most secondaries much, but it's great for SR. I went the opposite way to many and didn't pick up Shadow Punch until very late, but I find it fleshes out single target DPS very nicely. End use is also helped by not having to use Shadow Maul as a single target attack all the time. Late is lvl45 at the moment and I'm happy with how this build is performing, but some of the slotting will probably change at some point. :

I think most has been said but I come to proclain the greatness of Life Siphon, people don't like it as the HP gain is average. However its recharge is quick, therefore as long as you use it in your attack chain it is healing around 260 HP everytime you go round the attack chain, that to me is very usful and the damage considering it heals you is good too, Troke does about 110 damage with it and 160 on average when buffed with soul drain. I don't care what anyone says it has saved me countless times, but it has to go in the regular attack chain to be effective, unlike DC which sits there till you need it.

Ta guys. I had started this build before and Shadow Maul & Smite were the two opening attacks I went with. At that stage (about level 6 or so) there was a noticable wait for powers to recharge. I love Air sup anyway, even my Kinetics defender has it, so I reckon thats going in to fill the gap. Siphon Life is certainly on the list too to keep me running.

Haste I think I can live without, my attacks are pretty quick to recharge anyway. Maybe Elude would benefit from it but thats miles away at level 38.
