VG Invites...

Recently been making ALTS and running round Mercy Island playing with different builds. Well put it this way ... I TRY to! I would succeed to if it wasnt for that fact I am continually rejecting BLIND SG invites.

I even joined one on one of the ALTS to stop the invites. But this probably encouraged the behaviour.

The only EVIL plan I can think of is to stay in the group get my hands on the base and sell it off.

well, in i7 we get a 'auto-reject-team-invites' option.. perhaps a similar option would be a good idea regarding SG-invites as well?

He he he, reminds me of a post I made ealrier regarding a bind I have set up for the lower level zones. Whenever I see spam SG advertising over broadcast I reply with...

"/b Yes, please join them. You've not teamed with them, know nothing about them and you may actually hate them and vice versa. But they'll take complete strangers into their group anyway so you can farm prestige for them. remember, spam VG advertising is bad. Find people you team with and have fun with then join their VG instead"

When I see someone who isn't already SG'd it's something of a rarity. I myself have got into the habit of creating a shell SG just to get rid of the invite spam.

Two things come to mind.

1. There are probably a lot of one-man SGs out there.

2. There's no way of telling if someone is in a one-man SG save for looking them up at the registrar (it will have the bog standard 20K prestige if SG mode has not been switched on).

Strangely I see a lot of people without SGs, true, mostly lower levels, but a lot of 30+ toons too.

This could possibly be attributed to them switching out of SG mode to gain influence and the SG leader kicking them. But in those cases I'd say the kickee is better off anyway, since I wouldn't want to be part of an SG that was like that.

We have a few pre-CoV 50s in our SG, with a good load of influence, so we can help out any lower levels who need it and still want to contribute with prestige. If they'd rather turn to inf themselves that's fine too, bases are a nice-to-have rather than a need-to-have, in my SG. The way we see it, we have a fully raidable base now, the extra stuff will come in time anyway.

Shrug.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it should be as far as I'm concerned. The only exceptions being exceptionally pvp oriented SG's, but they should say this is the case before hand. That said so many supergroups now seem to be obsessed with building up a huge base as fast as possible.

Friends are just enemies that haven't betrayed you yet.

Surprisingly enough /ignore also blocks supergroup invites so /ignore everyone until you can make your own group, just for you.

Done this with every alt worked pretty well so far.

I wonder if this would work:

/bind lctrl+y "dialog_yes$$sg This SG majorly sucks, and the leaders are knobheads! I'm outta here! Who's with me?!$$quit_sg"

I'm 99% sure of each of the individual parts, the quit_sg I'm not so sure about, but I think it's right. The only weird thing would be the order. I understand that they are parsed backwards, so you might need to switch the quit_sg with the dialog_yes...

Shrug.

If enough people started using such a bind, we might see less blind invites... Of course you'd want to unbind it when you get into an SG you like... Otherwise it could lead to some rather bad situations, I'd expect.

Shrug again.

Blind invites (team or sg) are the most annoying thing ever. When I'm looking for more teammembers, I type:

/tell $target, Hi, four-man team fighting level 21's, need some help, you free?

Then I simply select the name of the individual, send the tell and carry on with the mission. If he or she ignores my plee (which by-the-way I think is rude, all thats needed is a "yes i'm free" or "no, I'm busy" *rolls eyes*) I simply select another individual, scroll up my chatbox and send the same tell. I'll do this until the team is set or if no-one seems to be free.

Blind supergroup invites I dont come across, if I make an alt, I make it into a pre-set SG. But I can understand "testing" a build and then being disturbed with spam'd invites. Annoying! If I were at your keyboard, I'd join the first to prevent others. Making sure to point out to the invitee exactly how annoying blind invites can be. (Whether or not you let him know its only another test build is up to you).
