MA/Regen rethink.

I know there are plans and builds for this type already but I am wanting to start from scratch. Thos of you who read my thread a few days ago about how hard I find respecs will appreciate I need this advice as I have two characters to do. One a mid 30 which isnt so bad and the other Lodestar himself a MA/Regen at 50.

Its such a nightmare now I avoid even starting and quitting for another day. Sechs gave me a good build to look at but I wanted more opinion before I disect and rebuild that plan. Im going for a PvE/PvP hybrid as I want to PvP more with SG but I do like my PvE a great deal.

Any help would be appreciated as a few changes seem to have been made to moves I respeced out and so on. For example is thuder Kick a load of pish now? It seems to be. Also I am trying to keep Super Jump and Im toying with ditching hasten as it takes up room. Though I admit I really like it. And also while we are here I thought the best slots for attacks would be

3 damage/ 1 accuracy/1 reduce recharge/1 endurance reduction

or 3 dam/1acuu/2 end redux (hatsten helping with recharge when its up)

or since PvP drops base accuracy 3 dam/2accu and 1 end redux.

But Im just floating ideas here. Proof that I at least TRY

I'm not experienced with MA at all but I can help with general Scrapper stuff and Regen, with a PvP slant

My initial advice on accuracy would be, you need to decide whether or not your going to get Focus Accuracy from Body Epic and Tactics from Leadership. With either one of these slotted up two accuracy is more than enough for a PvP build. With both of them I wouldn't slot more than one accuracy, with Focus Chi in your case slotted for a tohit buff or two to ensure hitting even the hardest of targets, one is fine

Nothing worse I find as a Scrapper than fighting things you cannot hit

I haven't done any PvP with my lvl 36 MA/Regen but I imagine the following would be the key MA powers for PvP:

Cobra Strike - low damage but very high chance to disorient so should be good for incapacitating someone for a quick kill.
Focus Chi - a must for doing good burst damage to take someone down quickly
Crane Kick - high damage and does knockback (a person on their butt is a person who isn't attacking you)
Crippling Axe Kick - this does high damage, knocks flyers out of the sky and has a chance to immobilise and slow (not sure what the chance is though). It is a long animation though so might be best executed while you're mid-jump so you don't open yourself up to Stalkers too much.
Dragons Tail - A must for fighting stalkers. Very fast PBAOE attack so it has a good chance to interupt a potential A/S if you see the stalker lining one up. Knocks NPC's on their butts so I assume it does the same to villains/heroes?
Eagle's Claw - most damaging attack we have. A built up critical Eagle's Claw will do some very nice damage indeed.

Storm Kick and Thunder Kick should be added as required to round out the attack chain (I haven't played my guy in a while so I don't know if both are required or not).

On the slotting side of things I imagine it depends on whether you will have tactics/focussed accuracy in the level range you'll be PvP'ing in and also whether you envisage yourself getting involved in long drawn out fights or whether you'll be ducking into battle, defeating someone and then ducking back out again. If you're going to be going for quick kills I'd recommend slotting a recharge or two into Eagle's Claw and Crane Kick - you'll be wanting Crane kick in particular to come back as soon as possible due to its good damage and its knockback utility.

On the travel power issue I love love love superspeed on my PvP'ing spines scrapper. I have a ranged attack though so for a MA scrapper super jump will probably come in handier (my eventual lvl 50 build for my spines guy will have both superspeed and super jump).

I'm not sure if any of this is any help to you but they're my thoughts on a MA/ PvP'er.

Defiant 50s: Generalissimo, Righteous Bob, Splortch, Brutus Cayuga
Union 50's: Chimera Obscura, Diet Anthracite, Grim Proctologist, Puny Little Minion, Raging Bitumen

I find apart from Eluded scrapper/stalkers, and anyone in PFF 2x ACC in all my attacks hits fine, thats without Tactics and FA (very seldom enter the arena where FA is allowed

That all said MA has 5% base accuracy so its more accurate the DM which is what I have.

Without perma hasten and assuming that you do take stamina either dropping the sixth slot in the attacks or slotting with recharge reductions would be o my mind preferable over end reductions. Regens seldom lack END but chaining attacks is essential.

Just agreeing that that is true and backing that information up. I do seem to find the difference between playing my MA and a lowbie level DM. Yet I know there's a thread saying that all primarys you must draw need a Base ACC buff. I can't seem to find this link though or the link that contains the base numbers for ACC on the primaries.

here's a pretty "uber" build for PvP, and very very good in PvE. What are your thoughts lode? If you wanted cobra strike and MoG you can scrap leadership. ALso mess around with order of powers.

Btw how come you want to start over with your ma/regen when a free respec with issue 7 is due?

A fair question. And the answer is because ones due. I still have the free respec from I6. If I dont use it and then use my free respec after I7 Ill have but one earned respec left. I use the free one before I7 I get the free and end up with an earned one (terra volta trial) and the free one. Free respecs dont stack.

Was having a good luck at your build and some interesting choices. I can see where your coming from with it. But I note alot of general feeling is fitness isnt needed much or at all in some peoples eyes. Why is this so? My poor Lodesar has quite and end issue. Not serious but I can tel the difference since ED.

Just found that build on an SG site that was written months ago. And thanks again to the author of this. I havent done the respec due to tech problems and leveling alts as I have been behind.

Now what I have ben told is that Cobra strike, eagles claw and thunder kick are able to regularly stun an AV. But it seems to me that it has little use other than this or a part of an attack chain. Now this may be inaccuarate and unfair but that is how it appears.

Also I still want to consider MoGs value. I have seen info that suggests a 3 slotted def MoG is good in PvP and even can get past Hurricane. Natuarally a Dull pain prior to it otimises it. Especially with the bug buff of HP increase that was left. Or has this been a myth?

Im wondering also if anyone still likes the idea of 3 slotting health enhancers on both Fast Healing and Health from the Fitness Pool to get a decent heal rate.

Im going to keep researching for a little while longer and Ill post it here for advice and as a way to help anyone else. I have found threads like this useful myself in the past so nice detailed explanations of things given in laymans terms is always nice to find. Especially if you are starting out or have trouble with respecs as I have.

Old thread about respec type thing

Nature Spirit gets 200 more HPs at level 44 when he uses DP before MoG, so that is no Myth.

I like 3 enhancers in FH, health I'd do if I had spare slots

They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.

with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,

I don't know if ED changed it or if it's significantly different to hurricaine but I know Rose Knight would activate MoG to allow him to walk into bubbles to beat the [censored] out of the controller which was why we were so successful against teams who relied on this tactic.

Well to be honest with that build you have it is quite old, and the slotting in it is really quite weird aswell as power choices such as conserve power and thunder kick.

Genuinely with a regen scrapper who has stamina and quick recovery-attack slotting would be: 2accuracy 3damage 1recharge

If you have focussed accuracy it is possible to slot: 1accuracy 3damage 2recharge allowing faster cycle off attack

Personally I feel the 2accuracy in the attacks are a comfort blanket for me, and in PvP focussed accuracy can be toggle knocked.

The slotting of regen powers seem okay. and focus chi has the best slotting.

Personally I would follow my build, but instead of the leadership build, you could have cobra strike and MoG. (I for one am not taking leadership on my scrapper)

Thunder kick cobra strike and eagles claw could stun an AV, but so can storm kick cobra strike and eagles claw. Ever since the changes in damage I would not take thunder kick, crippling axe kick is the one to go for.

In the build I posted I 3slotted health and fast healing, with that and 3slotted integration that is the highest possible regen alone, with no instant healing or outside buffs.

I will be taking MoG in my build as a fun power, it'll also be fun to use in the last 3minutes of an arena fight to score some more kills and run through force bubble and hurricane.

So as an alternate version of the build i posted earlier heres on you could try- Chuck Norris build v2

Oh thanks for the pointers. I was pretty convuinced thundr kick should go. And as you have pointed out inadvertantly. It is extremely sifficult to get the attacks in early and balance everything else. Every plan seems to show a build isnt very well balanced until level 35 or later. Makes me wonder why I chose MA/Regen some times. If I scrapped hasten that might help a bit. But it seems adviseable to keep it. Which would mean get shut of Super Jump which is not what I want to do. Ill see what I can do to make it more me and efficient at the same time. Thanks all for your help. Ill not turn down any other help. My empathy Defender only has me stumped on the Psi blast side of things. But Lodestar is a real pain.
