Server Wide Pentad Tournament - Sunday 23rd
[ QUOTE ]
Just thought I'd make a post to keep this on top of the Forums, and let you know I'll try getting a nice little team of Super Union's.
And something am not sure of, say if the level range is level 35-40 and 4 of my team where 40-50 and one was level 35, would this level 35 guy have a 5 level disadvantage or does it even it all out?
[/ QUOTE ]
just checked and the range is 38-40, in this range there wud be only a minimal difference and wud certainly not be anything to worry about
Just a little update on this. Got a couple of teams who would like to take part but are missing certain AT's from their teams(tanks seem in short supply).
While I'm expecting some people to just turn up on the night and try to grab a team, It would be nice if any of those who dont have a team or need a specific AT to list their details here so people can try to get teams arranged in advance. Will hopefully make it less chaotic on the night!
Having just came bck from my holidays yesterday im interested in this tournie and im not sure if i can get a team in time so i'll b offering the services of ne of the chars in my sig for anyones team just contact me ingame @NeoArc or PM me.

I will be only able to make it if it's still going at 8.30ish.

it clearly says its starting at 18.00

Yes, I know. That's why I said "if it's still going at ......"
Its a knockout thing some im guessing anyone that arrives late cant take part....
Not sure about how Ronin/Red-Fire will be doing it on the villain side but on the hero side, I will be kicking it off at 18.30.
Once it get's organised and everyone is fighting, people who arrive late CAN still enter but only until the last battle of the first round is over. Once I've been told the winner of all the first round fights, I will start scheduling second round ones.
If the numbers do not work out evenly for the knockout, I will be having any bye's in the second round, not the first, which is why the last first round match will be the cut off point.
Ill have a pentad team there sunday, Guest staring the MIGHTY Chives
Hope any teams put out stick around and fight other teams rather than leave. Its all for fun after all.

Tech Tower (tanker) or Skull Bender (troller) should be available by me if any spaces need filling.
Neither are specially PvP built though, but I did try to take PvP into consideration.
Shrug.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
Due to the earlier mistake of mentioning lvl 35-40, we have finalised this tournament at Middleweight, lvl 32-37.
Why miss out the final power (level 38)? In most builds this is a key power. (MoG, Elude, Total Focus, Shocking Grasp to name a few). I would suggest using the Cruiserweight division(38-40). That would allow the final power Pre-Epics and also would give a much less level difference between the players.
Why level cap for villains is 40 ? Dont you think less than 24 hours notice is a bit poor planning ?
I'll just remind you off your first post

- Battles fought at lvl 35-40 (I think that's the one, whichever weight is just below the epic power level )
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with Sgt.
i agree with knight stalker and sgt completely, i don't see the logic in fighting at 37
like sgt said there is a huge difference between 37 and 32, the 32s will get destroyed whereas there really isnt much difference between 38 and 40

[/ QUOTE ] i cant emphasis this enough, energy blasters and tanks without total focus?
*sigh* this was shaping up to be great fun
u do realise u can enter 38-40 if you're under 38 right?
IGNORE THAT POST
It will be capped at lvl 40. Appears we were given the wrong information as we were told that the lvl range for arena, i.e 35-37, meant you HAD to be at least 35.
Zak has pointed out this is wrong as you just get auto LK'd to minimum lvl if you are not high enough.
The matches WILL be fought at Cruiserweight which is lvl 38-40 and will be rated. ANY lvl can take part though, you just get SK/exemped to the level range.
Once again, apologies for all the messing around but someone gave the wrong info out on the Union Leaders channel
Great let the games begin

cant fight rated matchs if any1 is below the lvl range
ie. if im lvl 35 fighting at the lvl 38-40 bracket you cant fight rated(you can fight unrated)
i seen a couple of villains moaning (even about how a blaster can beat a stalker, i mean if a blaster isnt damagin wots it got left? ) but i gotta say well done to the organisers. yeah it didnt go as planned, but this was largely done to teams not turning up, dropping out etc and i think u adapted well
was a very good and fun event, thx to every1 that participated was an awesome night of PvP with some of the best matches i've ever played
1, Thx guys for running this comp. you's done a great job against the odds. Gratz on a great night
2, Gratz to X,KS,Gat,al and Neo. well played guys.
3, Thank you Kaya for filling in at the last min, you were great
4, Gratz to max and co for being the best villain team. No one has done more for Villain PvP on union than you imo. nice1 m8
5,gratz to AoW the only team to beat us on the night
6, (i know, shut up lady and goto bed )
All those taking part on the VG/SG Leader channel were involved and asked there opinion on the format changes and agreed with them, including your VG leader Toughguy.
I am glad we mixed the teams in the end as Max Powerz showed the gulf between heroes and villains is not as wide as some people expect and that the extra slots available to the heroes could have made things a bit more even, if villains had them. I think we made the best of the situation on the night.
This was the first time anyone has tried to do something like this outside of S4(which had months of planning) and while there were clearly problems, those who were understanding and patient are thanked for their co-operation.
We've seen the wrinkles and I feel it was far from a failure. I for one learned a hell of a lot just by watching one or two matches.
With only 4 hero teams there at the start, we had the choice of continuing as a straight knockout. This would have left the Heroes who had been preparing since it's announcement only guaranteed one match, two at best and only a maximum of 3 matches for the villains.
After consulting with the relevant VG/SG leaders it was agreed we would change the format so people who had arrived would get more matches due to the low turnout.
I'm sorry some people felt they wasted their time but I think we made the right decision in how it was run after we saw how many teams arrived. I certainly don't feel I wasted the 4 and a half hours I was stuck in there tying to organise it without a chance of any action for myself or Ronin, despite the fact it wasn't very enjoyable for either of us.
There was a VERY important reason for not taking teams in advance for this. It was NOT organised to give the big PvP groups a stage but was organised to try and get more casual players involved, which is why we were allowing people to meet up and form teams just before the event. Yes, it did not work out as I hoped with only a handful of teams like this but there were people there who had never really PvP'd before and they turned up, got a team and took part. Advance registration may be a better idea but there will ALWAYS be a delay at the start while we allow for latecomers before finally drawing the matches. Considering Ronin had to re-do the entire format and draw on the fly for over 20 matches, I think he done a great job.
I will be getting in touch with people to see how they think it can be improved and will chat with Ronin. Given the feedback on the forums, not too sure I will be prepared to give up another 5 hours of my play time though as it's been less than encouraging so far. I will get the feedback though and post how I would change it should someone else want to organise one in future.
Special mention once more to Max's team for doing the villains proud, Deluge's hastily cobbled together PuG who done pretty well considering they had never played together. Bitter Ice's team was also very impressive until they were knocked out with total domination of their group, only suffering one death in all 4 matches of the group stage. I think there is someone else as well... Oh that's right, Shaman X's team who actually won
Whether we arrange another one remains to be seen. After giving up 5 hours of my personal time, not too sure I'm prepared to do it again.
I do want to thank those who took part though. Some of the battles I did manage to actually watch when I got a spare minute or two made excellent viewing.
I have one thing to say.
I one-shotted someone!!!!!!!!!
World of Jackcraft.
He said that on Teamspeak. Very, very loud.
Also, had some real fun tonight. Thanks to Kaya for filling in as our controller. Damn you Max and co. for killing one of us in the group stages :P.
It was nice to have a chance to fight against some villain groups in PvP, something I have never done before. Though the matches against villains were rather one-sided it wasn't as bad as I imagined (especially Max's team) so kudos to the villains who turned up. As a side-note Assassin Strike is an empath's nightmare!
Congratulations to AoW (only team to be us) and was it Team Redemption (?) for of course coming first. I'm looking forward to more pentad events in the future.
