Cloaking device & stealth

I was just wondering if cloaking device from the devices powerset stacked with stealth and if so do they give you something approaching invisibility?

As far as I know Stealth and Cloaking Device do not stack and the only ways to become "Invisible" are to get the Invisibility power or to use Superspeed with Stealth / Cloaking Device. This however only works in PvE. In PvP superspeed proivides no stealth.

I think you can be completly invisible if you hit the mobs with smoke grenade first then turn on cloaking device.

I was thinking of turning my AR/Devices blaster into a stalker-hunter. Just to see if it could be done. I'm hoping the targettting drone (coupled with IR goggles if necessary) will be able to see through a stalkers hide+stealth. But for it to work I need to be invisible but I hear invisibility prevents attacking so you have to switch it off and then queue up your attack which would be a bit of a pavalar.

Might just have to put up with it

Doesn't invisibility untoggles automatically if you try to interact with something else?

claoking device is pretty damn effective as is, its not perfect but good. As for a stalker hunter, get targeting drone and tactics and you can see them, you cant guarantee IR goggles will be for sale

I think it's high time you stalkers were actively hunted
The downside with the AR build is there's no build-up so dishing out damage is likely to be a problem AND i'm fighting an AT with defences. This build may prove a disaster but not ventured and all that

Also remember that most stalkers ( all but regen ) have Defence too, as an AR device you have no build up or Aim to give you an ACC bonus, only inspirations.

Assumming the stalker has 30% defence, your base to hit is around 20%. Tactics ( Blaster ) and Targetting Drone both 3 slotted for to hit buffs provides a nice 35% to hit buff, as opposed to just the 23% buff of targetting drone meaning you can hit the stalker much more often.

Tactics + Targetting Drone
0 ACC SOs = 55% to hit
1 ACC SO = 73% to hit
2 ACC SOs = 91% to hit
3 ACC SOs = 95% to hit ( capped 107% )

Whereas Targetting Drone alone
0 ACC SOs = 43% to hit
1 ACC SO = 57% to hit
2 ACC SOs = 72% to hit
3 ACC SOs = 84% to hit

These numbers do not include the inherent accuracy bonus of Assasult Rifle powers.

Also if you move around in pairs, the to hit buff and perception from tactics will add up, meaning being able to see even further and hit even better. Also you could both get grant Invisibility so you are completely invisible to the stalkers too.

Yeah I'm convinved. I'll take tactics as well. Anyone any suggestion on the 1st two powers in the leadership set; Assault or Maneouvers? Damage or defence. I here the damage boost is almost neglible. Can anyone confirm this?

The defence bonus from Maneuvers is almost neglible too.

Maneuvers is 2.5% defence.
Assault is I think 10% damage buff ( according to Hero Builder ).

A damage buff is the amount of base damage added, so rather than doing 195% of base damage ( 3 SOs ) you will be doing 205% of base damage ( 3 SOs + Assault ).

Defence gets taken off at the to hit at the same time as to hit buffs and before the accuracy multiplier so providing they have no to hit buffs you get 100 * ( 2.5 ) / 50 = 5% damage mitigation. This can be enhanced to 7.8% damage mitigation. However if they have to hit buffs this goes down a bit. On the other hand if you have defensive powers ( Hover, Cloaking Device, Combat Jumping, Stealth, Smoke Grenade ) this will stack.

So assuming you don't slot them it comes down to doing ~5% more damage or getting hit ~5% less of the time. Both are fairly expensive powers endurance wise so you might be better off taking one and not using it.

Take Assualt, its not great boost as blaster , but it does free upslots , since the first empty one you fill with endurance reduction .

And every bit of extra damage helps.

[/ QUOTE ]Nope you just cannot interact, click a power and nothing happens it's very annoying.
Even with targeting drone and tactics you can have problems seeing stalkers if they are running stealth and hide. From my verious tinkerings I find that tactics & IR goggles seem to give you small +perception boosts however a yellow insp (even the small one) give you a greater boost than any one power I've tried. (not used the targeting drone so I cannot comment)
Your best bet is to pair up with a dark or storm def, if you're both running tactics then that's a double bonus and the have +stealth PbAoE toggle powers that should stack with cloaking device.
Invis other is good as when invis'd this way you can still act.

That's unacceptable and kind of defeats the purpose of the excercise. IMHO if an AT with a perception boost from it's secondary powerset and one from the pool powers STILL can't see a stalker through hide and stealth then their really is something wrong.

The point of this toon is to hunt stalkers, not simply be able to see them off if I'm being hunted.

TD and tactics work just fine, Silent Scope is a pain in my butt in Sirens call. An illustration of how much I beleive in this build is that I started my own stalker hunter AR/Devices a few days before you started this thread (honestly )

I though that they did not stack with other hide powers such as stealth.

I'm busily levelling up an AR/Devices blaster, partly for Stalker hunting - and after having been a part of a successful team in Siren's, here's the recipe...

First, preheat your Cloak and Drone.

Take some freshly laid Trip Mines - four will do, but why not indulge yourself? - and sprinkle lightly with choicest Caltrops.

Now pick your Stalker. Pluck them using the Teleport Foe method and drop them into the spicy mine and spike mixture. Flambe lightly with Ignite and Flamethrower and serve.

Yum.

Great minds think alike, or should that be fools seldom differ

I was just in Warburg and had it confirmed by an AR/Dev blaster that TD and tactic sees through hide and stealth and that he could see a non-stealthed stalker before they could see through the cloaking device.
Unfortunately the damage they put out is fairly poor and no build-up to augment it

If you're going to plan a Stalker-hunting solo build, Fire or Ice are your only real options for primaries when coupled with Devices. Once in a blue moon you'll be able to take out a stalker with AR alone - but not with any degree of regularity.

damage is low but the inherant accuracy + TD + tactics means you can get some real nice chains working in there with end reds and recharges and ranges. Where others slot for damage this can be a little more tactical

Sadly, tactical doesn't get the job done as efficiently or as effectively as outright damage - the longer you take to eliminate a target, the more chance that target has to escape/heal/get to teammates/lose you in the scenery. "Inherent accuracy" doesn't stack up too favourably against pure ST-damage, either on paper or in practice - from all my experiences in PvP as an AR/Dev, anyway.

Not all Stalkers can be tp'd. I know for certain Energy secondary has a shield to prevent this.
