Mmm. Maybe a "Spam Channel" for people to advertise, ask for PL, Inf, or anything else that annoys me, just so I don't need to see it. I can but dream that they'd actually stick to there though.
Not knowing what else is out there, I have created the following channels:
- PvP CoV
- Trials CoV
- Badges CoV (This one clashes with the 'Union badgehunters' channel started by Lady Grimm (Goldenboy on the forums), but I just created channels I though might be needed before logging onto the forums)
- Roleplay CoV
All channels are public channels. To join, just right click on your chat window and select join chanel or type the command:
/chanjoin <channelname>
e.g /chanjoin PvP CoV
OR
/chanjoin "PvP CoV"

Well, seeing what's been posted in the General section, as well as your channel, I figure let's modify things slightly
I may change the scope of the badges channel, or juts drop it, depending.
The other channels hav had name changes to comply with emerging conventions ;p

A good idea. I'd like point a couple of things out though.
If people are going to use the "/send channelname" command, long channel names are a pain in the bum!
The Galaxy Girl roleplayers already have an Out Of Character channel, called GGOOC. Feel free to join if you visit GG! This channel is for ALL OOC stuff at GG only. All other discussion at GG will now be IC as much as is possible (Barring spelling corrections!)

Personally I fully advise the use of tabbing. Seperate your favourite global channels into their own tabs and set talking on the channel to the default in the tab menu. That way you can stay permanently connected to the channel in the tab without it invading your normal chat window and when you want to talk in it there's no need for the send channel command at all!
Unfortunately, switching tabs like that doesn't alter the destination of the input box.
It's either right click and select the one you want, or use the /send feature as far as I can tell.. Unless someone can find a bind which will change the chat destination for you...

Are you sure? I've got Union Badghunters as the only channel in the tab and It seems to be going there straight from the chat box when I've got the little 'A' bubble on the furthest right selected for default.
Ah.. that might help.. but you still need to switch when posting in multiple channels, such as local and a couple of GC channels... I use /send which is quicker than fiddling with the mouse... long channel names are a pain!

I would beg to differ I abuse the tabbing feature myself, and I can assure you that changing tab channels does alter the destination of the input box BUT you must have your chat options set to Active. That's the tiny 'A' (or rightmost of the little chat buttons) just about the input box itself. See the in-game help or pm me @noir for further assistance.

Would seem someone answered before me Shorter Channel names may be 'easier' but with the anticipated volume that will be spawned (imo) we are trying to name the channels descriptively at the start. If you use a channel often enough to make it useful, you will learn the channel name.
Failing that, just use keybinds. One of the most useful features in this game. There is ample help proivided on binds in he 'Help' menu option, and much much more available online

Sorry, you r wrong.... if u create a tab, u can sset what is the default.
I use tabs and to write a channel i just need to select the tab....

Nah, what I meant is constantantly having to relocate to the mouse to click the tab channel you want at the time, plus the fact that you can only have a small number of tabs at ones IIRC. Been a while since I bothered...
It's FAR faster for me to use the slash command But long channel names are a pain!
Something like: Union_Rolaplayers_COH for example. I'd never use it, to long to type the sucker. But, URPH or URPV... Now you're cookin'! 
But please, feel free to name the channels as you wish! I only really need the GGOOC one anyway ;p

Hi there im being really dense at the moment, but these chat channels that you have guys have created, i take it that anyone can join? Also do you have to join all alts seperatley or does it work as an account based thingy.

Yes anyone can join - just use the join chat channel button.
Yes it on an account level. So all your Alts will get the channel.
Okay, since Global Chat/Total Cat is finally here I'd say we at Union need to make a firm decision on what to set as our global channels for particular purposes or at least a system to allow us to easily identify the best place for particular things.
So I figure we'll need:
Taskforces
Badges
Looking for Team/Members
PvP
So basically I think we come up with more suggestions and then suffix them all as: Taskforceunion, lftunion etc. and that way we get as many people in the same places as possible. When that's done we can *hopefully* sticky a post for official Union global chat channels. Good idea?
