IoP's and Base Raids Supergroups Discussion
Think your right on the money there TG. Suspect that the base-to-base raids and destruction will cause some issues. But such is the risk of having an item of power. And dammit I want one anyway
We're gonna take another crack at it from the villain side tonight tho, so wish us luck
Well the sensible way to get your IoP and avoid being radied, would be to wait a month or so. By then most raider SG's will have one, and be unable to raid a single IoP base. Though I can see a lot of whining happening about that answer too.
One problem is Cryptic promised 'no PvP unless you want to'. And making IoPs raidable seems to be a severe case of getting economical with that bit of truth. [assuming the IoP's effect PvE play]
Hopefully the much anticipated unique IoP's will keep the raider SG's happily raiding each other. Hopefully the unique IoP's will give PvP only benefits.
personally, I want to raid/be raided first for practice using the instant raid, that way get practice etc. - no bases yet are full configured for choke points and mass defence systems, - so having a raidable base with an IoP is a waste of time.. imo
If anyone wants to do some base raiding with us. then give me a shout ingame as zor. or PM me here

There is a thing here that came up from US and i am sure will come up here....u see the whole raid thing is merely an excuse for some heavy PvP battles to commence. There are SG's in US that currently go in raids prevail but not end the raid by simply taking the IoP but by leaving the raid. This enables them to keep the IoP number low and keep raiding at will.

They do.Last night after completing the trial i went in Atlas Park with my IoP buff fully functional.

Hmmmm i dunno about that had a long discussion on this in CoV beta. But one thing is for sure a special 20% Xp buff IoP is not intended for PvP

Even the heaviest defense i am pretty sure wont be able to hold a well prepared PVP team although this needs testing. However expect first raids to starts really soon as soon as first IoP's are acquired in game.MAny SG's are really close to acquiring a fully raidable base.Once they are ready all it needs is 1 IoP to hit the server.
I believe that the Rangers now have a fully raidable base (Apart from the IoP of course ) And fully look forward to annihilating anyone who comes in

The Goonies could have a fully raidable base right now, but we don't cause we (or at least I) dont want one. Let others have IoPs. I prefer to have those 2 normal telepads right now instead of raid teleporter.
Maybe when there is more info about the propability of losing items(prestige/salvage) to raiding we might pay more attention.
Hmmmmm ok from raids you do not lose any items, salvage, prestige, influence equipment. You only lose the IoP. The base can be totally wrecked and anything clickable can be destroyed but everything is restored automatically from system uppon raid end
afaik, instant raids, anything can be destroyed, but for an IoP raid its a bit more serious and must emply a repair drone or 2 to repair any broken items.. (if repairable)
At least this is what I understand.. I may be wrong..

I don't think so.
To quote Lord Recluse (from here)
[ QUOTE ]
Taking down an item in a raid does not automatically mean it is permanently destroyed. There is a base chance that any destroyed item is fully restored at the end of the raid (I don't have the stats in front of me so I can't quote the number). This chance is increased by building Robotic Fabricators and the Flames of Hephaestus. Each adds a percentage to the recovery chance.
And, of course, for in instant raids everything is restored to full at the end of the raid.
[/ QUOTE ]
So in a non-instant raid, there's a chance anything destroyed stays destroyed.

I was under impression that this is true for instant raids, but for IoP raids it involves the possibility of some items unrepairable, ie. permanently destroyed. The Robo-fabricator or similar salvage item should lower the possiblity of such thing happening, but it should still be possible to permanently lose some item. This is just what I have gathered from available info so far, might be wrong, and we certainly havent tested. Most items are automatically repaired at end of raid yes, but not all of them in case of IoP raids.
yep yep thanks for pointing it out Robbie's post clarify it. Thought was same for both type of raids.
Well expect a lot of issues once the IoP raids start....
Grats on making it last night TG! How did you find it from the hero side? Think we are gonna have some issues trying it.
hmmmm well took us 15min to complete it....20-22 heros there with at least 10 controllers made it too easy..the hardest part was actually realizing what we had to do with the obelisks. After that we just bashed then obelisks go inside and see AV. Hammer him in 30 sec with clock counting and was done. Prolly the force field he is supposed to have could make this more interesting. That was way too easy i must say. I dont know if it scales with number of people inside the trial but you ll need to do some team work for it. For example we had a separate channel for team leaders to communicate so we could coordinate the whole effort. Keep the team close and dont let people spread out and try focus all together on one enemy at time..and patience with obelisks cause they are tricky...u need kill the mobs around them first to make them drop shields. Once shields down forget mobs let heals fly and damage dealers concentrate on obelisk. Masterminds will be ubah in this trial due to whole army they carry with...a 3 x8 team with 2 masterminds in each time can easily complete the obelisks by having the team focus on obelisks and MM's on mobs around as perimeter cleaning.
Well hopefully we got a bunch of mm's coming. Think our only issues is gonna be getting those flying mobs down where folks can hit them.
corruptors with snipes and dominators with immobs and holds are key to this so u bring the flying mobs down. Also robots MM will be extremely useful on this one.Furthermore use tp foe at will on them...
Good thought, had missed the tp foe possibility. Cheers Talin, useful info as ever.

hahah well as long as u have fun i not mind smooth always nice to see the evil you come out and wreck things
Yeah I can see it getting messy on the forums after the a few base riads. ZOMG you trashed me base !!!!!111!
Gah, I predict a massive influx of posts like that.
The thing is, my tactic in a base raid WOULD be to destroy other stuff in the base rather than the people first. If they've got no power, how can they use their base defences? If they've got no control, how can they buy inspirations? If they've got no medibay, they'll have to either get a rez mid-fight, or run aaaall the way to a base portal from a hospital.
After talking amongst some of our coalitions we ended up chatting about the raids and IoP's since it seems we are getting close to the start of the raids.
We mentioned the insanity that will prolly break out from Supergroups complaining about raiders that steal their IoP's thats just acquired.
Personally after discussion amongst our SG and one of our closest coalition and after completing the Cathedral trial it seems acquiring the IoP through the raid way sounds a lot more fun. However the amount of whining that will break out already seems enormous. Just random thoughts after reading US forums just now and having coffee, feel free to discuss or ignore this
