MapServer discons - Guardian

I normally have no issues when playing. Matter of fact, my SG mates are often a little jealous of how few network issues I have with this game.

Which makes tonight stand out. I can't play for longer than a few minutes before I get the dreaded Mapserver Disconnected message on my screen. When I finally click to log out or exit, it immediately disconnects me, with no timer.

Just had my fifth one in under an hour of play, after playing with no problems or issues this morning for about 3 hours.

Anyone else having this issue?

Edit -- Wrote "Galaxy" instead of "Guardian in title. Fixed it.

I finally had to stop playing. I had 5 in the first 30 minutes of playing and then another 5 in the last 15 minutes. When it got to the point where I couldn't complete even one super jump without it happening, I said no more.

I am having the same issue on Protector after having no problems yesterday or the months previously.

Same problem here tonight. In the last hour 5 mapservers, after having no problems this afternoon.

Same problem, on Virtue. I tried with two different characters, one blue-side, one red-side; no difference -- mapserves within minutes of joining.

Map serving like crazy here. Just got kicked again. Seems it's not a particular server either.

Given that I'm having no issues, I'm going to guess this is network/ISP-releated. Sometimes some ISPs have problems reaching the game's data-centers.

What ISPs are you guys on? If a lot of you are on the same one, and no one sharing your ISPs is working OK, that's going to make it pretty certain that's the broad issue.

That could be; I'm using Verizon from the U.S east coast.

I'm on the East Coast as well and using Brighthouse cable. so that's 2 different companies. maybe it's just the east coast

Could be one of the hops between your ISP's and the servers is having some problems.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I'm having the same problem no matter which server I use and my ISP is Comcast.

I'm not having this issue so far, and my ISP is Comcast... but in Houston, so perhaps there's something in Aurora... or perhaps a messed up server somewhere west of 35° 14' N, 100° 42' W -ish, maybe.

/yeah, that'll mess someone up...

I've been plagued by disconnects, rubberbanding and power activation delays since the last patch on several servers (I hesitate to say "all" since I haven't tested all, but at least 3-4). New York state, Time Warner. Everything else runs fine online, it's just CoH having problems.

Seems like a lot of variation in the reports for it to be a user-issue, but then maybe it's just the coincidence of several people having issues at the same time and reporting them. Other people who are having problems see it, and assume it's a problem with the game and not their connection.

Had this every server i've been in since the last patch, but it was the worst last night. i play mainly on Virtue and, recently, Guardian. Zoning seems to happen most often, but my Husband and i had random mapservers inside of missions last night, too. At one point, we thought we'd gotten totally disconnected, but recovered, and a few seconds later several people in VU were talking about getting mapserved, so it wasn't just us. i don't think this is an ISP issue. i believe it is something going on server-side.

I'm on the east coast of Canada, and my ISP is Aliant. So it is looking like there isn't a lot of common ground between people with issues and the ISP. However it does look like it is east coast people connecting to the servers.

As I said in my original post, I rarely have any issues. Even during the worst of the alien attacks, zombie incursions, etc. I usually run with little to no issues. Yet yesterday the simple act of zoning would cause me to freeze. I stumbled on a zombie attack in KR and that caused no end of issues. It got so bad that I literally couldn't move-- I would try to jump or run, would get half way through a jump, and the app would freeze. When I logged out and back in, I would be back wherever I started the movement at.

We'll see if it has improve today, after the servers come back up.

Re: commonalities...

See my thread about "Lag, LCTM" for a bit of a primer on my ideas regarding the chain of servers 'tween you and the game servers.

It's entirely possible that somehow you all are going through the same server(s) somewhere, and that's why it seems to be non-related.

Only way to know is to do a trace route. Mine winds up in Chicago, and then stops. turns out, I don't know where it goes from there, but up to that point, it's all good, good low ping times. I just don't have a clue where it goes from there, but they're going from Chitown to Virginia or SoCal, and I don't have issues, so I'm not *terribly* concerned about the locales of the remaning few servers... I just don't know why I gotta go from Houston to Chicago, but whatever, it works.

Anyway, if all of you wound up going to, oh, I dunno... Kansas City, Kansas (as opposed to Kansas City, Missouri) (and not to knock either one, just a place I pulled outta my brain) and that server was messed up... there you all go. ISPs apparently DO have a way to identify which server chain(s) they wish to use, and can make changes. There is proof (or was) with a guy in Alaska who was going to Japan or something before it came back to the states. His ISP fixed that, redirected the server chain to 'in the states'.

So. Just an idea.

/dunno where that other thread is... and I'm in a hurry, so maybe later I'll link it.

Same problem in Miami, FL. Our provider is AT&T.
Tried three times to log in, and to no avail.
Hopefully this can get fixed, because as of tomorrow we will have no forums until Friday (72 hours, according to the post I read earlier today).

Good times, good times....
