New player: trying to get my feet under me

I'd probably reccomend villainside as more newbie-friendly than heroside. It's more linear, easier and lacks all the annoying artifacts from an age where MMOs were expected to be anything but user-friendly.

If you are in the Hollows look out for the smoking/fiery ground. Bad things lurk there, treat it a like a mob of bad guys.

Protector Server
Woeful Knight (BS/Regen/Body Scrapper)
Kevin Christian (MC/FF/Primal Controller)
SilverCybernaut (Eng/Dev/Munitions Blaster)
Apixie OhNo (Fire/Fire/Pyre Tanker)

That was quite the shock when I first ran into those guys..

I thought, "Wow! That mission is all the way across the zone. I don't see many mobs in that big pit, and there is usually a way up if you look hard enough. I'll take a shortcut through Grendal's Gulch. What an unusual looking field of rocks I am running through."

"Rrrrrargh!"

"Whooosh!" Whooosh!" Whoosh!" Whooosh!" As I get pelted by boulders by these rocky dudes that just popped out of the ground. Not that they needed more than one boulder, as the first one killed me.

Good times!

New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):

Now, the good old days were BEFORE getting the jet pack from the KR zone bank missions and before they nerfed Hollows and made it 'player friendly for smaller groups'... or the freebie add-ons for travel... Was before my first 50, the 2nd, 3rd... oh, the joys of what the Hollows used to be

How many times have I tried to make it across to a FrostFire mission to get 'almost there' die and start over again... die again.. I'm coming... almost there!.. Thanks for waiting!

The good old days!... lol

Hollows are okay, but I admit I like to get that temp jet pack before trying to navigate them I would definetly recommend going to Faultline as soon as you get the Jim Temblor (spelling may be off) as he's the beginning contact for the Faultline arc which is personally one of my favorites of the game. It lasts all the way into you're mid 20's when you take on Arbiter Sands as an AV (ArchVillian - very tough bad guys). Glad you're having fun with the game and hope you continue to enjoy it. Watch out for the Alti-sidis bug, its rampant in this game.

Another vote for Faultline arcs.

For those who miss Fusionette, I'll also recommend the Fusionette Task Force in AE :P Great for low levels, too.

53 Bots/FF/Mace Mastermind | 53 NRG/FF/Electricity Defender | 50 Time/Dual Pistols/Soul Defender | 50 Demons/FF/Mace Mastermind | 51 Necro/Dark/Soul Mastermind | 50 Thugs/Time/Mace Mastermind | 50 Ice/Ice/Arctic Tanker | 50 Plant/Rad/Earth Controller | 50 Illusion/Trick Arrow Controller | 50 Gravity/Force Field Controller
Yes, I like Force Fields.

Yeah, great memories from the first time I played through the Faultline arc. The Striga arc would be as good if Council bases weren't so annoying.
