The thing that bugs me about the idea is, what benefit could possibly be had by merging servers that would outweigh the annoyance of losing character names, losing SG names, and overcrowding everywhere. (instead of being able to play on a lower population server because you prefer it)
I speak from the viewpoint of an exclusive Pinnacle player. If a server merge were to happen Pinnacle would be one of the first merged with, say, Victory. That would irritate me enough that I would quit the game, and I'm sure a decently large number of people feel the same.
Merging servers would ruin the game for those that like lower population servers, either because they like the space, or because their computer can't handle the increased activity. I'm sure there are quite a few people running the game on minimum requirements, they would be literally unable to play on a server with Freedom's activity level.
Benefits include:
1)Easier to find a team
and 2)
...
...
That's all I could think of. The downsides far outweigh the benefits. If you can think of more benefits, please share.

Yeah, as usual, merging the servers is a terrible idea. Pretty much the only reason people seem to be able to come up with aside from just 'they should' is that it would increase population and make finding teams easier.
However, there are a couple of problems with that. First, you'd lost a lot of people over the fallout from a server merge unless you could somehow find a way to resolve character name and Supergroup issues in a way that's fair to everyone (good luck).
Second, there's no need to consolidate people in this way because the simple techniques for getting teams work well on all the servers. I've used them on every server there is and they work just fine. There's no need for every server to be a clone of Freedom in terms of activity.
Third, many players would prefer that every server were not a clone of Freedom in terms of activity.
And this isn't even getting into the lag issues or the (false) message that server consolidation sends out to the public - i.e. that the game is in jeopardy or dying, which it is not.
It's all very well to have differences of opinion, but with so many good reasons against and so few good arguments in favor, it's difficult to take that contrary opinion very seriously.

Why not join a nice Supergroup? Mine does non-AE stuff all the time. Task Forces, Radios, lowbie, high-level, mission arcs, badge hunting, etc. It also nets you a nice regular group of people to chat with / team.

I play on all servers (including Victory) and never have trouble finding teams when I want them. If you are just standing around broadcasting in Atlas and expecting to find a team not doing AE, maybe that's your problem.
This thread is full of suggestions for how to find good teams on any server. Use them.

Why would you assume that I spend any amount of time spamming "lft" in Atlas? I never said "I can't find teams on Victory". All I did was comment on the server populations. Obviously, I view bigger as better(and some people strenuously disagree). But I can tell you that it's a lot quicker on a server like Virtue.
Please, spare me your strawmen.
All I was saying is that the negatives of a server merge far outweigh the positives.
I was never saying there aren't positive aspects of it, just that there are more negative ones.

I play on Justice regularly. While I solo quite a bit that's as much choice as anything. When I want a team, I generally get one pretty easily. And almost never AE.
Good luck, but me thinks the problem will not be sorted by a server hop.
