I could bring either a scrapper, a tank, a sonic defender or a sonic blaster. I will try to match up with what the team needs.

You can count me in as participating.

I'll be bringing Fire Agate, MA/Regen Scrapper in his mid forties.

Definitely interested in participating, if you'll have me.

Been wanting to ask; are you assuming as a given a particular difficulty setting? I looked over the details and I can't find any mention of it.

Anyone that runs this on anything other than "Heroic" is more crazy than is humanly possible.

Those Ruluura are a pain.

Sometimes, I impress my boss. Sometimes, I impress myself. The rest of the time, I scare people. I can live with that.

Good question.

Participants, what setting would you be comfortable at?

Heroic sounds comfy to me.

City of Heroes taught me that when the world is burning, you don't just stand by and watch, you grab a fire extinguisher and do whatever you can to stop it-even if it's not much at all. Sign the petition to keep City of Heroes alive HERE.

I'm not sure the word "comfortable" is quite right, since by the end of this I, and some others, will almost assuredly be running on nothing but caffeine, blood lust and dementia no matter how we set things up.

I would not object to any setting chosen, but suspect I would be a happier person come Sunday morning if we went with Heroic.

No no, it's next week. Which is good because grocery shopping is Monday, which means energy drinks and snackage.

I want to confirm my presence for it. So, Moon Goddess Luna, Emp/Dark fender lvl 50, will be entering this crazy marathon!
Yay!

*Corrected my last post

Globetrotter asked me a few minutes ago if one could bring different characters and not stick with the same one throughout all TFs, and I thought that was a great idea.

This way missing badges can be gained on specific toons, and team composition can change to keep things lively.

As long as the same player controls the toons from start to finish, I think it's OK.

the more i think about this the more i doubt my ability to do it. mostly because of the start time. if it didn't start fri night i would be much more able..

so i guess this is me chickening out.

Okay, pencil me in (it's Tabercil)... as for what I'll bring, it depends on what the team needs. In order of what I'd like to bring (all lvl 50):

Inv/SS Tank
Fire/fire blaster
Fire/rad troller
Ill/storm troller

Drat, I got a 3 day week end coming up, but I wont be able to join...

Good luck to those joining!

Rats. Just found out there's an event happening Sunday afternoon that I *really* wanna attend, so you'll have to pull my name off the list (unless you think we're gonna be finished by then).

I should think we will be finished Saturday your evening, but definitely before Sunday.

* I'll join the team if anyone drops, if only to pass the time quicker.

I need to finalize the team make-up so Thursday, Aug. 6, at noon Eastern will be the deadline for signing up, dropping out.

The New Player Welcoming Night Committee has dropped off the funds they wanted to invest, so we now have our 800M in prizes ready to distribute!

Thanks again to bamaWolfie for offering, since this type of event definitely doesn't appeal to most "new players". Personally, I'll be sure to give a litle something back in the fall when the next NPWN occurs, and I hope to see you all there.

I'm getting antsy for Friday night now.

Okay, I'm in then, since there are multiple assurances we'll be done by Sunday. If that changes though, you'll find me not online in COH, but in Fergus catching Leahy in concert.

I modified my last post to reflect the official team roster for the Shadow Shard Marathon.

We are a GO!

I'll see you all tomorrow night at the Shadow Shard entrance to invite team members and supporters to a global channel (please have a slot ready to accept it). I will also give you the details to get into the Teamspeak server, for those interested.

We'll review the marathon directives together, answer any last minute questions and then get under way.

Is 8PM eastern OK with everyone?

I will start another thread once we start up to act as a journal / blog of happenings as they occur to keep informed the rest of those who wanted to do this but lacked the intestinal fortitude.

Okay... just ran some fast math:

Merits involved:
Justin: 24 merits
Faathim: 73
Sara: 63
Doc Q: 111
Total: 271 merits.

Remember that the devs set the merit total to roughly equal how long the task forces take. Stale says his kids did Justin in 3 hours. At the same pace his kids did it, it'll take us just under 34 hours to do all 4 - that's around 6 am Sunday morning without any breaks folks.

Now the standard the devs used was 20 merits an hour for task forces. 271 merits equals 13.55 hours "standard", which means we'll be done around 10 am Saturday morning. One long caffeine-fueled night perhaps?
