Taking it to the extreme: Super Strength/Dark Aura

K, so I decided to try a pretty difficult, and amazing payoff build (in my mind anyways).

I tried it before and dropped it because I lacked enough cash for SOs or common IOs.

So I'd like some help in planning an endurance safe and extremely survivable SS/DA Brute!

The thing about Dark Armor that I've found, is yes...it can be very endurance intensive but potentially very powerful set. Dark Armor allows you to either damage enemies, fear enemies, stun enemies...or a combination of them. The crash from Rage and Hasten is rough but manageable. First thing you'll need to decide is which of the 3 toggles you'll want. Some work togther, some work against each other. Cloak of Fear works best either alone or with Oppressive Gloom, as Death Shroud keep pulling them out of their fear status.
On the Super Strength side, I'd recommend slotting heavy for more endurance. Since Rage basically allows you to run your attacks with only needing 1 Acc, you can try slotting: 1 acc/ 2 end/ 2 dmg ... and a recharge reducer if needed. Most use 3 single target attacks with/without an additional power pool attack and Foot Stomp. I'd also recommend Tough to buff up your smashing/lethal resist. Unless you use -KB IOs, you'll need to take the Jumping power pool to fill the Knock Back (acrobatics) hole that Dark Armor has.

Also try the slotting Dark Regeneration with 3 end reducers/ 2 acc/ 1 end mod. With Hasten it should drop the End usage to about 18-19 and the recharge to about the same 17-19. You'll just need 2+ mobs to fill your end bar most of the time.

Drop one of those for the +end proc (theft of essence?) with that proc in a full group of mobs you can actually gain endurance from dark regen!

Put this end proc in Dark Regen, frankenslot your attacks for max end reduction (they cost 10x more end/sec than the rage crash !), frankenslot also your toggles and DR too...

Only the proc may be expensive (like 15-20M), the rest costs nothing and gonna change your life as a SS/DA.

Here is the build for my SS/Dark. Relatively end friendly, but I do sometimes have issues with Rage crash if I'm not paying attention. The Numina unique I just added a couple days ago after a lucky merit roll, so the "relatively end friendly" statement isn't even inlcuding that if you're worried about keeping costs down. I use this build on my personal farm and its pretty effective. Rage will allow you to give up some accuracy in the attacks in favor of more end reduction. The resist numbers aren't anything to write home about, but Oppressive Gloom is an amazing damage mitigation power with only the base slot and Dark Regen recharges in 10 seconds (using about 18 end).

Why SS/DA? I find the two relatively counterproductive and very far from 'huge payoff' that you mention. SM/DA, yeh, awesome, DM/DA yeh nice nice, SS?

DA is a fun set with toys. You can go the double stack stun way (SM's Fault + Oppressive Gloom) Double stack AoE Fear way (Invoke Panic+CoF), stack defense on top of resists way (CoD+Weave+maneuvers+set bonuses+Darkest Night), and all these roads lead o super fun.

I fail to see the specific reason to pair it up with SS, especially if you plan to double stack stuns with og+handclap. The KB will knock them right out of your gloom where everything but a minion will be unstunned and smack you right back.

But as a general concept toon (non min/max), sure, it probbaly will be fun to play but very painful to keep from running out of blue.

Mu Mastery: Electrifying Fences will take care of that nasty, old KB. You can probably do without Darkest Night by picking Cloak of Fear back up and slotting it for -tohit, though I'd say the defense build would benefit greatly from CoF+DN stacking.
