Recent patch stability?

I think the most recent patch messed something up. I'm seeing a lot of posts about crashing and when *I* start getting crashes, you know it's bad. I LITERALLY have not crashed once in more than a month - until today. I crashed 4 times today. (I didn't log in at all yesterday.)

No noticeable pattern to the crashes:
1. During a Rikti invasion.
2. In an instanced mission.
3. Zoning into Ouroboros.
4. Switching toons.

From another point of view.

I have possibly one of the worst internet connections possible. My ISP is a Wireless ISP. There is a tree in my backyard that has branches growing out in line of sight between my antenna and the ISP's antenna in town. When there are leaves on the tree, such as now, any half decent breeze will cause the branches to move and the connection gets flaky.

All that being said, I played for 6 or 7 hours Friday evening and disconnected once during an invasion fight.

If it was something messed up in one of the recent patches, I'd be disconnecting left and right.

I just don't see it happening.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Could be you have dust build up that's now making your PC a bit too hot. It's really hard to tell because you just assume it's the game's fault and don't give us any details.

Well I am disconnecting left and right, which never happens to me. I can do anything else internet-related just fine, but I've already DCed 6 times since yesterday. It makes the game not so fun to play when I have to start missions over again.

Disclaimer: I am assuming that the OP's definition of "crash" is "disconnect".

I have not disconnected once in weeks, other than one time that my internet went down (which I can't fault the game for).

The only unusual behavior I've seen is I was getting about 5fps in Atlas 1 last night around 1am ET. There was not a Rikti invasion going on, and I was not near the AE building... and there didn't seem to be many people around the Atlas statue either. 5fps is pretty bad considering I usually never dip below 30... even during invasions or raids of any kind. I think something was wrong with the zone. Somebody I was talking to on Vent (using a different computer) was also complaining of problems in Atlas. Other zones were fine... then again, it was fine when I went back an hour later as well.

In short.. no real issues here.

I assume nothing. To address the specific point you did mention, I have a program running that monitors my system temperatures constantly and also logs them.

If you re-read my post, you may notice that I was making observations regarding my experience that of other players as well. Also, my comment about stability ended with a question mark. I am wondering - not assuming.

P.S. I've already been playing for several hours today with no crashes. There may have been some external factor, independent of my system and the game, that was causing the crashes.

Nope. Crashing is crashing. The application freezes and may, or may not, give an error message.

Same response to Texas_Justice - my issue is crashing, not DC'ing.

Seems I made the same incorrect assumption as Zloth and Mateo.

My apologies.

[/ QUOTE ] To clarify.. when I said "no real issues here", that meant crashing as well. Many people refer to game crashes as "DCs" these days as well. I mentioned disconnecting in the sense that.. I have not even disconnected, let alone crashed. Then I went on to say that the next closest thing was some fps issues one time. It may be possible that whatever was affecting me at that time may have crashed other systems. That would certainly explain why I didn't see many other people around. Everything else seemed normal at the time, and zoning fixed the issue. Then the affected zone was fine a short time later as well.

I have no idea what happened the one time, but I have not noticed any other odd behavior by the client or server in any way.
