Rep Kills in Arena not working?
Can you be more...uh...specific?

In the latest patch, the Devs said that they made it so you receive Reputation from kills in arena. I haven't gotten any, so I believe its bugged.

# Fixed PvP rewards to function once again. Now, influence, inspirations, and other normal rewards occur on every PvP kill, while PvP IO recipes can only be rewarded on rep-valid kills.
# Fixed rep-validation to function in arenas, even though it doesn't give you any reputation in arenas.
I believe rep-validation is only used in arena to reward pvp IOs, influence, and prestige in arena, not reputation.
So basically, you can still get PvP IOs off the rep-validation timer, but it just doesnt give you rep?

I've already gotten a pvp recipe drop in arena. Haven't checked my rep though. Who cares about rep, all I know is i've gotten a pvp drop.

Yes. It is to prevent rep farming (lol badges)

I can confirm that you can in fact get PVP IOs from the Arena. The problem is that they enabled a Rep timer that works the exact same as the PVP zones BUT you can not see it. You just have to know that the timer restarts after every attack. You must wait 5 mins before attacking again.
Ironic that only those that are actually FARMING the Arena will now get the PVP IO drops when they initiated this change to prevent farming (at least we assume they did).
That's categorically false as I've been in the arena consistently since the patch and haven't been farming. I've seen plenty of drops as well. There's a chance for one drop per 10min duel, which is what I've been doing, and it seems that they may have actually done something right for once.
Stop ******** about something you have no clue about.

Heh. haven't gotten any rep points? drops? How many tries? What conditions? Without info, we can't assess what's going on or help you.
You may not be a clueless noob; you may know exactly what you're talking about. But we can't tell. In the meantime, all sorts of posts pop up asserting that x or y isn't working based on rumors, assumptions, misunderstandings, impatience and sheer stupidity.
If you provide us more details, it helps us sort you out from that crowd.

He provided us with exactly what he needed to. We answered it. They don't grant rep in the arena, they just implemented a "Rep-Timer" so that we can get PvP IO's in the arena.
That's already been stated.
The drops are still there in arena but the rep timer makes them much more rare. The 10 min rule is still in effect but it is also tied to a rep timer - this was to stop farming. For example if you had a team of 5 constantly killing a team of 5 they had a chance to get the pvp io drop but that chance is negated if they constantly kill the opposite players (ie farming) because like a zone you would get no rep for defeating the same player in the period of time that the rep counter was going and if you did that rep timer is reset.
It's a 5 min timer or I would not have gotten both my drops this weekend.
good to know! the problem is you would have to atk and defeat a mulitude of different opponents to get the drop if I understand it correctly and wait the 5 minutes between defeats - unless the rep timer does not reset, which it sounds like it does not if you got two drops in 10 mins.
He said two drops this weekend...not two in the same ten minutes.
it's actually impossible to get two drops in a 10min duel on the same toon...unless you can get drops after the match ends, but I haven't had any confirmation on that.
you can set the arean timer to 30 mins - and unless they changed it you can get drops after the match ends..
my bad I thought he meant two drops in match...which used to be possible in a 20 min match

afaik - the drops are based on # of rep kills (some amount) so a rep timer tied to 10 min match would suck. The other poster said it was a 5 min rep timer and I have no idea if it counts down regardless or resets after a kill regardless. (I dunno how zone rep timers work I never paid attention - what is their time between kills for rep?)
either way it sucks for arena unless you do a huge FFA match your bound to be defeating the same targets.

You CAN get a rep kill in the 5 min cooldown period for a match, correct. I did not this weekend but I saw how it could be done.
Going to repost this from a different thread. Enjoy:

So even attacking resets the rep timer (or fails to allow it to reset)?
I had a pair of toons I was testing arena drops in which it was a slow (5+ min) kill rate.
But you're saying I cannot even attack the toon until the 5 min rep timer resets?
I failed to recieve a PvP IO using the slow kill method -- maybe that explains it.
[/ QUOTE ]
My understanding is that ANY attacks restart the timer. The timer does not START until the first defeat.
EX:
Player A defeats Player B .... Timer Starts for both. Player A has a 1% chance for a PVP IO Drop.
Player B attacks Player A 2 mins later ... Timer restarts for both.
Player B waits FIVE more mins then attacks and defeats A. New timer starts for both since the timer met the 5 min requirement. Player B has a 1% chance for PVP IO drop.
Also, due to the 1% drop rate for a PVP IO you should expect to average about one drop in 100 kills (with 5 mins between them). Thus dueling players could expect to play for 10 hours before getting one.
However, I received 2 drops this weekend within a lower amount of time. Thus raising the question of did they increased the drop rate or was this just an isolated occurance. After all random is random.
Also, the unanswered question is if you have a rep timer in one match then immedetly start another match. Does the timer drop off? Or do you still need to wait 5 mins from the last attack?
[/ QUOTE ]
Irrelevant once the patch to test goes live - rep's gonna be a static 5-minute timer regardless of who killed who and when they did so.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Either way it's one drop per 10min duel then, no?
No, Meld. Basically, each player will have a 5 min timer. So if Player A defeats Player B .... chance for drop.
If Player B then immedietly defeats player A .... chance for drop.
Both have to wait 5 mins from their last defeat for another chance. IMPORTANT: The timer is NOT reset if they attack each other while they wait for the timer to reset...
This is a very good fix.

Not quite- if A defeats B either would have to wait 5 mins for a rep qualifying kill.

On Live yes but not with the new patch on test.
Basically what the subject is. The most recent patch fixed rewards in PvP, so you get influence, rep, prestige, pvp IOs ect when you get a kill in open PvP, and I believe that the patch notes also said that it was made so you get rep now in rated arena matches....but this seems to not be working. Any thoughts?
