B.) Possibly to store inf.

Presumably it'll be back when GR launches and you can use that character again then.

It's the same mentality of hami farms, rikti doll farms, etc.
Something is obviously not right. So you're (generic "you", not you in particular DumpleBerry) going to jump on it and hope to profit from it.

Seriously, I think people are making some pretty hefty assumptions here. So it's a crime to knowingly place bids on something that may or may not come in a future update? I take it no one here has ever pre-ordered anything?
In all seriousness, Slax has a character that can't access the market, which stinks. I see no reason why anyone should be punished for trying to bid on something, regardless of whether they knew it was in-game or not. It's certainly on the consignment house. And I, personally, have plenty of bids in on things that don't exist in the game for my own personal reasons. And they certainly don't involve farming or trying to take advantage of the system.

It's a problem because he knew that they weren't supposed to be there. Just like when waaaay back, the COV stuff was available *by accident* and a few people used improper commands to get it.
It's also very much akin to the vet-reward and perk bug - they are given out to a character that shouldn't have it, that character stands a huge chance of being corrupted when it gets fixed, if they keep messing with it.
It's really a case of knowing it's a wasps nest when you throw the rocks.
OP: petition to have that character's inventory changed if they can do it. Otherwise, stop messing with it. Give it time and they might fix it outside of your experience - there are probably others who've jumped the gun, knowing or unknowingly.

I don't disagree with that. Hopefully support will fix this for Slax, and hopefully all those level 53 recipes will stay in CH inventory for me.

Exactly my point. I'm not saying that the OP deserved to be punished. just that when a person sees an opportunity to do something it can have unfortunate results.
For example there was a base bug a few months ago that awarded all SG's every SG base badge. The people that chose to buy the neat little doodads the badges awarded ran the risk of losing those items and everything they spent to get them when the devs fixed the bug.
Another example is when the Magic Booster Witch Leather Top accidentally went on the live servers during a patch. The result was that the people that chose to buy it at the tailor had the costume piece removed and they lost the influence they spent on it.

Is it a crime to abuse exploits for fast XP/Ticket/Inf gain?
NO.
Does it mean it's okay to do it and there aren't possible repercussions?
NO.
Bidding on L53 recipes and enhancers is one thing. At one point they existed in the game (and in some cases still do). So using them to store inf on the market is one thing.
Bidding on something that accidentally showed up on the market before it became part of the game? That's something else.
I'm coming at this from a purely technical POV of "you're fiddling around with something that's broken or unfinished".
If he's trying to get a jump on the market, I could probably care less (but if so, I'm not quite sure how).
It's called "Risk Assessment". Clearly his assessment was flawed.
Should he not be able to get back into the market because of this? No. But it's something for customer support to step in and rectify. Probably by canceling the bid.

Hardly. The Winter's Gift listings showed up on the Market before last-year's Winter Event and people put up "pre-order" bids for those too. They wanted to a) get a leap on anyone else who would be bidding during the event or b) chance getting a low-ball bid filled before the market stabilized to some expected higher price.
As was said before, it's likely pre-order.
There are other reasons to bid on out-of-game market listings as well. I personally have a 1 billion inf bid on Wolf Pelt Base Salvage. Even when Base Salvage was dropping, Wolf Pelts were never put in the game and none exist. I needed somewhere to stick 1 billion inf and keep it from clogging up my account .

Sadly that didn't happen to me at all. I am a fan of broken, broken costumes (ie. textures missing so that parts of the body are invisible), having several now, so I thought I'd slap it on.
Even today that costume is exactly the same as it was then. I was really hoping for another invisible torso character. >:|
