Who knows, maybe inflation has gone crazy in Paragon City.

Maelstrom: Argh! So confused and angry! Conflicting loyalties! And other generic angsty things!

Tyrant: So who's this kid with the gats?

Mother Mayhem: Eh, just some twerp from the good-guy world. But his twerp friend here thinks he's ticked off because he's marginally less of a twerp than all the other twerps back in Twerpville.

(blam!)

Maelstrom: So can I join your club? I just want to be around people I can trust, and nothing says "trustworthy" like "world-conquering supervillain named Tyrant". Oh, and you can totally trust me too, by the way. You can tell I'm trustworthy by how I just ruthlessly murdered that guy who was my only friend for years and also your only source of information about me.

Tyrant: There is no intelligent reason why I shouldn't just smear you all over the sidewalk. But the script says I'm carrying the Idiot Ball this week, so okay.

Maelstrom: Yay!

I can speak for my own characters as being completely unique.

Give us a list of them and their backstories and I'm sure we'll be happy to tell you who did them first.

Ah but you forget he's not called 'Tyrant' in his universe, he is simply called Emperor Cole, it is Prime Earth's heroes and villains that call him Tyrant (yes it's a retcon from the comics where he IS called Tyrant by his followers but just go with it).

Plus Tyrant respects power, in that universe might makes right, the fact that Maelstrom was able to resist Mother Mayhem's mental intrusion, where currently only Emperor Cole had been able to resist that intrusion, means he can have an ally incase Mother Mayhem goes a bit more wonkey in the head department and decides she should just control the rest of the Praetorian Freedom Phalanx and get them to beat down Tyrant so she can become the Queen of the Crazies!

The fact that Maelstrom was willing to plug a bullet into the brain of his only friend to stop Mother Mayhem giving him a fate worse than death shows he's got a strong will and that he's more than willing to put a bullet between Mother Mayhem's eyes if Tyrant so commands it.

Alright yes, even with those explanations it still seems a bit of an idiot ball move but it's not quite as bad as you make out.

Well, it's not like this kind of dysfunctional behavior hasn't been observed in real-life bad guys.

I'm more curious why the Praetorians allowed Maelstrom to keep his guns.

I rather liked the story myself. I was expecting a Frostfire sort of thing, where the guy decided he liked being a bad guy more than saving people. Or perhaps an Anakin Skywalker sort of deal, where he gets sick of feeling like he's being held back, or sick of following rules and always doing whatever he's told is "the right thing".

I liked his backstory much more, it was much more interesting. I didn't really pick up on the whole "Ironman or Wolverine clone" angle, as I'm not as big a comic fan as some of the others here.

I must say, these two backstories have my interest, and make me eager to see what else is coming for this new expansion. I would love to see more of the Preatorian Earth backstory.

Well they had the technology, so they had to rebuild him...

Would be a waste of tax payers money if they didn't...not to mention when is the chance your going to get to spend Six Million Dollars of taxpayers money on cybernetically enhancing someone...I mean...it only happens once every twenty or so years...

...this is City of Heroes, you can pick up bionics at the electronics store down the street.

6 mil buys 6 military grade cybernetic limbs on the market last time I checked, so if they bought 4 then they'd have 2 mil left over. Artificial Hearts are cheap though, they're just SOs.

Yes but while the heroes are successful enough to have influence with saids stores, they don't ship out to the goverment because they only cater to those with super powers...the jerks!

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't they have supers on the government, too? Like, I'm pretty sure the president would be able to rip his suit jacket off and suplex enemies of the United States where they stand
