What's the hardware in your machine? Especially video card?

As KitsuneKnight suggested, you really wanna post in the Technical Issues and Bugs section of the forums. That's where the experts hang out.
If you do post there, you'll probably need to provide a full report of your computer system - what kind of processor you have, how much ram, what your video card is, and so on. This will help people figure out what the problem is.
Yeah, I know, you're not familiar with that kinda thing. Don't worry.
Windows Vista comes with a utility called DirectX Diagnostic Tool, or 'dxdiag' for short.
To open dxdiag, simply type dxdiag in the Windows Vista start menu search bar...the little text entry field at the bottom when you open the Vista start menu.
Click the 'Save All Information' button in the lower right hand corner. This will output the dxdiag report as a text file. You can then copy the contents of this text file into your forum post. The resulting report will contain a bunch of information about your computer - ie. just the kind of data folks need to help you with your problem.
I'm not an expert, but off the top of my head, it appears that you've got some kind of video card problem...I'd check to make sure a) your video card can actually run this game, and b) your drivers are up to date.
It's also possible that this is c) a Vista issue. City of Heroes is not officially supported on Windows Vista. That doesn't mean it can't run on Vista, merely that it isn't intended for Vista. As such the tech forums are quite knowledgable about Vista issues and there are several threads with solutions to common problems.
I think your issue sounds more like a video card/driver matter than a Vista problem, though. I run City of Heroes on a Vista computer myself, and I've never seen anything like this. But that's just a guess. I'm not an expert.

Also, a nice website I found that let me know I could actually run CoX is System Requirements Lab. It's great for any type of game, and a good basic step. But it's just that: it tells you if you can run a game, but doesn't detect problems.

Also, in the Tech Issue forum there is a thread (as I recall) that can help you with two programs to help them help you - one is called CoH helper (IIRC) and it runs the DXDiag while stripping it of what they don't need.

Today I downloaded the free trial from the website and when I play the game only shows up in black and white and is very slow. Anybody else have this problem? What should I do? I have Windows Vista if that makes any difference.
