Thing is though Pogo, FO3 is not a FPS game, it is a RPG first and foremost. You can still shoot in first person (or third person) mode, but it's not like you can headshot anything. Your ability to hurt and be hurt is pretty directly tied to your level and skills. I wish it had better cover system myself... And didn't crash/bug out so much. But I love it all the same.

I tried playing FO3 in FP mode and I just couldn't do it :P No matter how much they tried they could make it fun for me anyway. I enjoy vats

Yeah, my latest problem I had was a BSOD every time I used VATS to target a Fire Ant. Which made doing the quest THOSE! rather... interesting. After fighting with it for a couple hours (and a complete reinstall didn't fix it) I moved it over to Windows 7 again and it worked fine.... I've done that quest on many other characters without a problem.
Fallout 3 is like that cute puppy that just made a mess on your carpet. It makes you angry at it, and you know it should know better. But you also know that it's going to do it again eventually, it can't help it. You also know that the fun you have all the other times when it's being good make it worth dealing with the occasional mess it makes.

People's experience with it vary a lot. If you play on Consoles it doesn't crash much (unless your Xbox RROD's on you of course), but it can still bug out in strange ways. PC version is much more susceptible to crashing especially if you use mods. But on the other hand, you get to use mods, so it balances out.

Demoncaller, It's a mechanism in Fallout 3 game which lets you take your time to shoot for us old folks who don't have the reflexes for a first person shooter anymore. :P
It pauses the game while you aim and shoot, giving you percentages for what part of your enemy you can and cant hit. IE if they are standing behinf a concrete barricade you get Zero percent to hit legs.
It makes the game interesting but the head shots can make it a bit too easy.
I don't get BSOD's but I do get a rare screen lock. Making for a nice screenshot paperweight of my pc
