Split Decision

Hey Guys, I'm in a little jam here. I don't know whether I should go with thugs/storm or bots/storm. Any suggestions? What benefits would I get with either of them?

Thugs are human obviously, so they will suffer from mez and common types od dmdg like fire and psionic. While Bots are more durable and suffer no mez whatsoever they are slow coming out the gate. With Thugs you get gang war which is very nicem it beats the repair bot power you get from Bots.

Basically, if you want more dmg go with Thugs, if you want more survivability with your pets and superior sniping go with bots.

I think Bots are superior when paired with storm in the first few seconds of a fight. I usually did the attack initiating while my robots were on STAY/defensive. I used steamy mist and teleported to the position from where I wanted to manuver the foes with gale/hurricane. Of course this brings aggro to the mastermind, and the Bots respond by firing, usually firing, while I pushed to the wall or corner. This all transpires in a few seconds, but once the freezing rain falls, I don't care what the robots do. Thugs on the other hand have the bruiser and the arsonist that get their own ideas and often run into melee to defend the mastermind even in Stay mode. An inopportune handclap messes up the group.

I say go Bots, more predictable, and you know the vector of their knockback by the time you get to the herdicane days.

I can agree with you on most parts I think, but the handclap is bad? They changed it to KD instead, so no more knocking them back. Now it just stuns, which is nice.

Oops! How true, handclap is now knockdown, hmmm. Don't post after 3:00AM? Early Alzheimer's? Mea culpa.

Bots: Mostly AoE

Thugs: A mix with slightly less AoE and more Single Target

Now, now. Don't go spreading misinformation.

Before the level 32 & Upgrade, Bots are almost exclusivly single-target - the Assualt Bot has Flamethrower... and that's the extent of your Bot's AoE before Upgrade.

Thugs, on the other hand, start getting significant AoE with the Enforcer+Equip... right at level 12. Then the Arsonist shows up at 18, and he's EXCLUSIVLY AoE (Well, excepting his basic brawl)! And people wonder why that little psycho dies so much...

Overall, I think they end up with the same kind of AoE - but Thugs collect them as you level, while Bots get them all at one time.

That sir just earned you some points in my book.

If only we could customize our thugs costumes to look like a landing party..we could give the arsonist the right outfit .

My vote is for bots/storm. Visually should be incredible, and you can make the bots extra durable with all 4 pet set auras.

Bots end up with Stronger AoE capabillities post 32. That is not misinformation. Note I said Thugs have slightly weaker AoE.

Are we assuming resistance or are we talking about Burn patches? If we're talking about Burn patches, it's only a matter of time before someone comes along and blurts about the Arsonist's Fire Bomb not having a target cap, thus having some sort of mystical unlimited AoE Potential.
