So any good fireworks-gone-bad stories from this year or past ones?

I was 10, my dad had a huge paper grocery bag full of sparklers. I had this 8" tube and a wick. So i scraped all the stuff off the sparklers and packed it into this tube with the wick. It made a huge black mark on the porch, but luckily i scrubed it all off before the old man got home. But it was a wonderful explosion. More of a flash though. Kind of disappointing.

I the past when we used to launch bottle rockets by lighting them while holding them, then tossing them into the air. As they looped into the air, some would occasionally decide to come right back at you.

Too many young people now will never know the hazardous joy of bottle rocket fights.

You've must never taken an empty CO2 shell, used in various toys I guess these days, scrap off about 3pks of sparklers, get a wick, clamp off the end, throw said object down a drain hole, run like hell, and BOOM!

Pretty cool really, shook the whole block, LOL, it was great.

A couple years ago, my friends and I had a big firework, with like 16 shells in it. Well, it died halfway through. Nervous Nancy* wanted us to pour water on it and chunk it, but Sparky Joe* and I decided that we could relight it and get the full bang for our buck.

We lit some paper on fire and "applied" it to the area where it had stopped. That didn't work. We used various sparklers and shoved them in all the openings we thought would get it going again. It finally went off, and finished it's display.

Nervous Nancy really didn't like us messing with it because often our heads were right over the box while we were trying to relight it.

*names were changed for the hell of it

Unfortunately, I don't have any fireworks gone bad stories. But I do have a fireworks gone good story. One year for the 4th we had a house party to commemorate the holiday. We ended the night with a bottle rocket competition. See who could launch the most bottle rockets with one match. My brother won with 132 bottlerockets out of 13 bottles. I think we went through close to a thousand bottle rockets. Funniest part was the next morning there were bottle rocket husks covering the entire neighborhood.

long story short....we used to light fireworks off in our friends pool on the 4th of july for a couple years in the middle of the night to scare him....yah know...make a little raft for them to sit on llight and run.....the last year we did it....it esclated to 8 cardboard box lids wrapped in plastic to make barges filled to the brim with fire works....which when lit eventually turned into 8 floating bonfires in the pool....which would have been sweet if 2 things would not have gone wrong....
1. it was so bright one of my friends got spotted
2. one dummy never pushed his lid away from the side and it lit the pool liner on fire forcing all of our parents to put the cost on all of their homeowners insurance.....

My brother shot off some bottle rockets when he was 12 in a cow pasture. Which was over grown and dry. Yes, it caught fire and 15 acres were burned. Not one tree was lost only the brush was burned. The owner thanked my brother for clearing the land. The county fined my Dad 1500 bones.

Why did they fine him if the farmer was happy about it?
