Where is Hero Con? I've always wanted to attend a Con, but most of them are in the Cali area... and I live in Indiana.... and can't really afford to travel very far...
Welcome back! I hadn't seen you on my global list in awhile so was hoping you hadn't quit the game like so many others! I honestly haven't even been on to check out I15 but will probably jump on tonight for a bit.
Coming back out of the woodwork after a couple years away from the game...

I'm considering going to Hero Con but flying out to California from Pennsylvania may be out of my budget. I'm still on the fence.

Um, from what I read, this Hero Con is going to be in San Jose towards the end of October. I know there was talk of some East Coast people wanting to rent some vans and do a road trip out there, but the person organizing it is not sure he'll be able to make it.
I'm hoping to catch a military plane out to California and try from there, since they're free for us. But that's always very risky, because you're not guaranteed a seat. So I might just have to fly out from Philly or something. I'll have to start looking around for cheap prices.

But CoX is no different, Travel is a joke here now too. from jet packs, Ouro jumping, mission transport, to full on travel powers at lv 6. I don't list the base transport because it is almost always faster to ouro go to talos and run down the hill. by about 4 seconds for me.
and as far as weeding through the masses ... welcome to the Post-AE weeding

Aion is very pretty, but I will find it interesting to see how a lot of COXers deal with the PvP (or PvPvE as they put it) at the end game. Most other MMOs have PvP fairly integrated, so I see a larger adjustment for CoVers in that aspect. ... But yeah it looks to be a fun game.

I tested Aion on Beta last weekend.. and granted that the graphics are cool and all but it sorts of feels like my two day sting at WoW.
Maybe because I didnt play enough of Aion, which I hope to when more beta testing comes out or even when Aion goes live.
Hopefully NcSoft can prove to me that Aion is better than WoW. Heres to Aion~!

Most will agree that our SG isn't PvP oriented here, but on Aion, well it's a totally different story....
The Rifts are cool!!! The Cross-Faction PvP is Amazing. We are totally digging it...

But you've been doing that since classic because leveling in WoW has always been silly easy. The changes are just to encourage more long-time players to make alts and to ease the 1-60 transition even more which many long-time players find boring by this point. Weeding through idiots occurs naturally regardless of the lvling speed because people will naturally get there even they die a thousand times every level.

Not certain exactly what you mean regarding that. Not my favorite character by any stretch of the imagination, but it lends itself to an interesting playstyle when I'm in the mood.

I regard this game and WoW as very different styles of game. WoW is mostly about leveling up, learning, and gearing your character to get into raiding. WoW is endgame, or destination-centric.
CoX is a much more journey-centric game to me. I enjoy leveling and growing in power, seeing a build come together in ways that sometimes surprise me(sometimes not pleasantly 
). Most of the story arcs are actually very well-written. Travel powers are a part of growing in power in this game, IMO, and not just something to shorten the grind.
Which brings me to my low opinion of the way so many people use the MA. I love the option of player-generated storytelling. But I hate how people seem to mainly care about farming it to level as quickly as possible without actually experiencing the game.
My first 50 was an energy/ice, bit of an inside joke.
The MA 50's are a mixed bag, on one hand if you want a PvP toon, PLIng may be for you, also if you've played 20 or so toons to 50 and like the endgame (limited as it may be).
But then there are the MA babies. The new players who get PL'd result in clueless 50s. Off course there are also players with multiple 50s who are n00bz. The only logical conclusing is PUGs rhymes with drugs so- friends don't let friends do PUGs.

D: I've been gone forever on these crazy deployments and I really miss playing the game. I've seen that there have been some updates recently and was hoping to group up with some people and see what's changed. I can't wait to finish patching and play my little mousie corr again!
Has anything significant gone on around here?
Oh, and anyone from Infinity planning on going to this year's Hero Con? I'm excited about it myself and plan on going.
