Plant/Thorns... most fun dom ever?

Looks fun. One thing about thorny assault really makes me mad. It looks about 1000x better then spines. spines looks like someone glued fricken banana's to your hero/villain. Change that crap!

Pre I15...I wanted to love the build. But I just couldn't.

With the I15 changes...My Plant/Thorn has become one of my favorite characters. It's insanely fun, and I'm only level 21. Seeds of Confusion is just plain wrong, especially now that I've gotten the cooldown low enough to throw it once every fight. Skewer is a kill move...And the mix of Melee, Ranged, and Cones means I'm frikin' everywhere in combat (Glad I have Combat Jumping :P).

Agreed on Thorns looking awesome. I have a habit of hitting an attack without a target just to make them appear.

The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)

Virtue Forever.

I enjoy my plant/thorns dom too, even though I'm only level 12. The sets just work very well together, and it looks awesome to boot.

Plant control has always been very good.

I've tried my very old Fire/Thorn 50 on test server and /thorny assault has become very good!

I hated Impale because it was a low damage, long activation attack but I think they've increased Impale's damage a lot to make it worth it!

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

The coolest thing about Plant Control is Fly Trap!!! Spider Plant.

My plant/thorn clinched its spot in "favourite powerset combos" when I spent a good bit of time eradicating Scrapyard's followers - while they were even-con or better to me. (The same group my Masterminds hate.)

Seeds, roots, fling thorns, creepers (after a level,) just keep going and seeing how long you can stay alive.

It's really nice when they cluster on that one platform by some of the factories, near Vince Dubrowski.

Since this is a thread about Plant/Thorns, I figured I'd pose the question here instead of starting a separate thread about it.

For Doms, how crucial is Fly Trap?

I used to forget to summon it all the time. I respecced it out. I didn't notice. We got Call To Arms, I respecced it back in. I haven't tried it under the new scheme, but I certainly don't see it as essential.

Sweet, that's exactly what i wanted to hear. i got a cool Dom idea that is going to flesh out extremely well once we get color customization.

Trap's AI use to be really really bad but now it's better. No pet is essential to doms now but they're very nice to have.

Well, i was thinking of making a brute or stalker soon, but I think this thread changed my mind...definitely going plant/thorn

Now if only someone sent me a build to level it up mostly solo all pve... >.>

Honestly I don't know if mine will play out this way - this is how I specced things out before I15, and I'm only just to level 24. Plays ok so far though - managed to survive getting jumped by Sea Witch (got in aggro range before I meant to), but had a harder time with Silver Mantis (trying again tonight).
