wait until the power is turned off to pay the rent. unless they changed this it will allow you to pay every 6 weeks i believe.
Rent is way weird. If you pay as soon as the message come up, you'll pay about every two weeks. If you pay after the due date, you'll pay about once every four weeks. Two weeks AFTER the due date (to the exact minute), City Hall cuts your power. Pay it then.
If you pay 5 minutes before they cut the power, you'll be paying every 4 weeks. If you pay 5 minutes AFTER they cut the power, you'll be paying every 6 weeks.
If, by chance, you have no equipment that draws power, you can wait an additional two weeks until they lock you out. Then you'll pay every 8 weeks. I assume, though, that you need the power on for the base to be useful.

And I know it's been covered at nauseum, but trekking back to two lowbie zones to pay rent is ridiculous.
Devs if there's nothing coming to bases in the near term, at least plop a couple dudes in PI & Grandville who can take the fracking rent.

Although I tend to agree with your sentiment here, to be the Dev(il)'s Advocate 
here... I should point out that (unless the power is already off) - The TP Beacon for Port Oakes drops you - like 20 ft' from the door of the building with the Villain SG Registrar...
And, Hero-side you can take the Yellow Line Tram to Galaxy City and get to the Registrar there fairly quick. If you have a reasonably fast travel power, it's just a couple of SuperJump bounces or a few secs or so of SuperSpeed running away from the Tram... *shrug*

Also Pocket D connects to PO, and its a short walk to the building to pay the rent.
So my wife pays the rent for both our hero & villain bases, and recently it struck her how often she felt it was due for both sides.
So she just logged on and it's due again, 300 prestige for both bases just two weeks after the last round of upkeep.
Though aside for designing/creating I'm not very interested in the bases, I always thought the upkeep was once a month, not every two weeks.
I lack the interest to search, so does anyone know, was it changed after the free rent per smallest plot giveaway was revoked?
