From what I remember (haven't played in a year) they never used to let us know when an issue was going live. Not even day of. Adds suspense. And excitement.
You just need to keep refreshing the patch notes page to see.

They reserve the right to refuse serv......err to take it down for emergency maintenance....that and yeah the issues tend to be 'suprises' so *shrugs* I'm gonna do some laundry.
They can't "let us know" because if something went wrong and they didn't actually release i15, the forums would burn to the ground from the sheer amount of weeping and gnashing of teeth.
In any case, every morning is apt for maintenance.

He asked a legitimate question and there was no reason for this answer at all. I totally agree with the OP here. NCSofts customer relations is terrible at times and I do not see why a quick post here 5 minutes before the down time couldn't have been done.
I am quite sure they knew about this 30 minutes before hand and could have quite easily posted something regarding the early shutdown.

Customer relations?! They gave a 30 minute warning which is plenty.
You really expect a red name to completely explain to you why the servers are taken down every single time? That's useless because 99% of the time its routine maintenance, the other 1% is hot fixes and issues.
And as I said before they cannot give us a heads up regarding issues because there's still a chance something could bork in the transition to live.
A simple we are taking the servers down 2 hours early today for (insert generic reason here) down time may take up to (insert generic time frame here) thank you for your patients is all that is asked for LOL
A simple Hi this is what is going on is all.
I'm not complaining, I just don't see why we have to put up with this every time they put the servers down and give no explanation before hand.
As I said they must have known about this about at least 30 minutes before they did it, so how hard could it not have been to post something 5 minutes before hand?
Yes Actually It would be nice for a change. Maybe it is only me I suppose.
And FYI, I actually tried to log on this morning and could not. I came to the forums to see why the game had shut down early and there was nothing, no post to suggest why the servers were down. So don't assume I was playing when it happened.
Here is a perfect explination as to why the post.

The in-game warning is automatic, or is the result of a button someone pushes in the server rooms, I doubt there is anyone there actually typing that out.

This is the thing that keeps me away from the forums. People just love to pad their post count by being sarcastic & negative at everyones post. Why even bother responding to this post if all you can say is quit whining? It was a legitimate question.

Well someone is up at this time and I see plenty of moderators on this board, and I even saw a red name here too.
Maybe you haven't noticed but the info we get in game actually states to go to the forum for further information as to why the game is shutting down, so would it be to hard to actually do this for a change?

I have noticed actually. It has said the exact same thing every time for the 3+ years I've been here, whether there is information to be found or not.
They just haven't posted it yet. And also, if it's just routine maintenance there are no updates TO read about.
The devs and GMs are usually pretty good about telling us what's going on. If they didn't say anything it is a good indication that they decided to do routine maintenance a little early today, that's all.

Huh? I would think heat like that would be a perfect time to hang out inside in air conditioning. Unless you A) don't have AC and your computer will overheat, or B) Your AC uses so much power your computer crashes.

Argh. It's like the world is conspiring to make me meet my work deadlines.
Yet again the servers are going down 2 hours early with no explination or posting from a (red name). Do we have any idea what we are looking at 2 maybe 4 hours? Some notice would be greatly appreciated on this last Monday of the month.
