Ok,

excuse me if Im not the sharpest bowling ball in the bag but could someone explain to me how to "farm" purples in Cimorea?

Find things that are level 50, and kill them. That pretty much is the extent of it. There's some nuance to it, but that's pretty much the place you wanna start.

someone liked to make up stories.

The nice part of cimorea is the wall, with lots of lvl 50-52 minions (and rare lt) are stationed. Taunt, they all run to you, footstomp on auto, smile.
Careful of the healers (forgot what they are called), I usually run up to them, ko blow/haymaker, let the rest of the wall spawn cluster and footstomp on auto.

50 Tanks: Invul/ss, Fire/ice/fire, Ice/em, Stone/fire
WP/Stone, dark/dark, shld/mace

50 Other: WS, SS/dark/sc brute, BS/Regen/WM scrpr, fire/fire/force blaster, rad/kin corr, mind/rad ctrl, ill/storm cntrl

That's about the extent of it. I think that technically any critter level 47+ has a chance to drop a purple recipe, but that chance is fairly miniscule, less than 1 in 1000. Don't expect to get one the first day. In the last year and a half of regular play I have seen maybe four of them.

I do not know whether the purple recipe chance goes up with the level of mobs, so that level 53 mobs are likelier to drop them than level 50s are.

Working the Roman wall is still a good way to farm up magic salvage and lesser recipe drops, that can be auctioned or vendored.

ADD: The healer is called Immunes Surgeon. He's always going to be a nekkid Spartan type; there will be exactly one per spawn of Romans. The only Roman who looks like him is the Immunes Engineer, who lobs fire at you and is the likeliest to run. Kill the surgeon with single target attacks first, then keep pounding on the rest of the Romans until they all die with whatever.

Meh, just run content with foes that are 47+. No need to farm for them, as you'll have just as good a chance in a TF, mission, or on Cimerora's walls. You can't really farm purples... they just drop randomly. I have had ONE drop since they came out, and I play in the 47+ range quite often (though I do have severe altitis). It's all the luck of the draw.

There used to be a hole in the geometry that allowed you to sneak behind the wall, but it's been long since fixed. Your 'friends' were taking you for a ride. =D

Here's a funny bit of info, my ss/elec brute kills faster then any 50 I have including the fire/psi dom-fire/rad trollr-sd/ss & fire/mace tank (& some others), but my fire/dark corr by far gets more purples & rare salvage drops in Cim.
I just tried the wall earlier for the first time in many months and got a Hecatomb (sp) after selling 3 other purps it already had.

Anyway, this reminded me of it. ;]

where is this 'wall'?

The area where you go into the final mission in the ITF... there's 4 wall spawns at ground level and 6 on top, which is usually 50-52 mins + lt and occasionally a boss, plus some patrols.

That pretty much sums it up nicely. I had one character that got 2 purples in one weekend running 47+ missions . The first was on an AV team in PI the 2nd was doing the ITF in Cimerora. Sold both for an emormous amount of Influence. I have other 50s that have never had a single Purple drop. It's all random just keep attacking the right level villains and you MAY get lucky.

The guy's saying you don't need to farm the wall or ... oh hey, patching!!!

Anyhow, the guy is saying anything you do with 47+'s outside the MA will give you a chance... so you can run an ITF, or do RWZ missions, or do door missions, or whatever. You don't need to pick a repetitive high efficiency 'farm' when you have equal chance anywhere in the game - might as well do something fun, your chance per kill is the same anywhere.

Yup, that's all I was saying. Just take out lot's of 47+ mobs, which you can do a lot of places. You CAN run around Cim's walls to your heart's delight, I was just giving all the info. I'd hate to see someone think they HAD to run the walls to get Purple's to drop, when the devs actually did a good thing and let them drop anywhere (the odds are high, but at least you don't have to bend over backwards to get them).

Purple Very Rare Pool
The drop rate for the Very Rare Purple Recipes is a 1 in 5,000 chance to drop. It is unknown whether they are part of the Pool A table or constitute a separate table. They drop only from foes that would ordinarily have a chance to drop a level 50 enhancement, so a level 47 minion, a level 48 lieutenant, etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is how you get purple recipes. My suggestion, do the Cimerora Task Force or Rikti War Zone TF or third Respec TF or Shadow Shard Task Forces. You get a 100% chance of merits if you complete and also you have a chance for a purple recipe or two! I have recieve three in a single Shadow Shard Task Force before (let me add it was two on one character and one on the other because I had two accounts going at the same time.) Purple Recipes are very uncommon.

Shun the person who told you it was on the other side of the wall.

I understand the concept of lvl 47 mobs (not like your getting xp), but where can you find them as easily as the wall? That is my problem.

The nice part of the wall is, large numbers, love to melee, and usually only 1 healer per group (KO blow+haymaker finished him off, any level).

If I could find them as easily and consistently as the wall, I'll go there. If I went somewhere else (e.g. PI), I dont get the same mob sizes, you must hunt more, etc.

Or are you refering to keeping a lvl 47 mission for farming (which I cant get/dont have)?

so for a while now when i'd point out how defense sets - most notably willpower - can be overcome by cimeroans in various boards here someone always invariably comes back with 'but i solo the wall...'

and here i thought the wall was all +2 and +3's with lots of bosses. wow.

i'm sorry but the wall is a joke. hordes of even level minions with MAYBE 1 lt and MAYBE 1 boss somewhere if you're lucky?

being able to 'solo the wall' means jack. i was 'soloing the wall' on my thugs/traps using no pets and just dropping trip mines for an h our today. gimme a break.
