Liberty Mothership Raids
Sundays are becoming harder for me to get ingame to lead these. I'll still always try to make friday nights shipraid my top priority thing to do. But more than likely I will not be able to lead tonights shipraid. If I show up its going to be late and likely while someone else is leading it. I'm going to jump ingame now and inform everyone that I probably won't be leading tonight.
Perhaps valor or ukase will want to lead in my place? |
Thanks for the endorsement Noy, But Rex will be leading MSR on Liberty.
What:MSR
Leaders: Ukase Rex
When: Sunday, January 29,2012
Time and addtional information located in LB and LFA MOTD

Not to cause any drama or issues - Valor, you're more than welcome to lead the raid this Sunday - but if you check LB and LFA motd, you'll see I'd already planned on leading it. You can also check the link below.
Again, you're more than welcome to it - but there may be some confusion on the part of players who don't read the forums.

I'm sorry to hear that Ukase. I was hoping that 2xp weekend would be good for people to run MSRs as they'd want to level up their 35+ characters. MSRs are very good xp.
I'd bring a 50 to help lead a team, but still even that's good drops.
Not having enough people show up for tonight's MSR was a bummer.

It looks as if my schedule might be changing again and I MAY be able to start leading on sundays as well as the current saturday. I need to find a backup leader just incase for sundays and someone else is going to have to pick up fridays.
As always I will attempt to login on fridays to lead if I get the free time to do so.

((edit: Where I thought I was posting. Sorry Noy can remove from your thread. AV))
Okay who here is reading the forums, cause really I can not follow everyone around on the forums to see who is running what MSR when and where. We have a spot we have been using to announce Mothership raids for the past several years. Then it somehow became not good enough and another was started. Now we post the events and times in the ingame MOTD for different channels and if you're not part of that particular channel then you don't know what is going on.
Here is my thought on this:
- why don't we once again use only one spot on the forums to announce all things MSR.
- if the group mods wish to include it in the MOTD. The information should include: running day, date and time.
I stopped posting that I would run them because quite frankly it's not about me it's about Liberty having community events. Anytime a Player wantes to try and lead we have always offered and will continue to support them in doing so. I can name the leaders we have assisted and fostered, but this is about Liberty events. That said the more Players who practice leadership skills here the better the entire community is here and elsewhere.
Lets allow others to consider leading just because you don't see it posted here or elsewhere doesn't mean it doesn't happen. This past Sunday the MSR was lead by a different person then Rex at a later time I was already engaged in something else with the SG but was in the RWZ and all the pylons were down and they were in the bowl. It made me smile knowing that it was formed up and ran even though I wasn't involved. Thats what community events are about.
Okay sorry about my rant, I look foward to supporting All (Sunday) MSR's. If I am running them (Sundays) I will post that here and see if I can get mods to post the information with the use of leagues and superside kicking the community event is just that. I enjoy see old raider and meeting new ones I also very much enjoy helping them become leaders. Leadership builds a better and stronger community.

Agreed re: the common posting point.
It's gotten to be a bit of an ordeal trying to keep up with who's doing what and when, and frankly I don't have the spare tab space for yet-another-Liberty-chat-channel devoted to nothing but MSRs. I'm far from the only one of the Usual Suspects with that particular problem. o_0
That aside, while I won't ever lead a raid or a trial (Honestly, I really am too slow and too poor a typist to do it-) I've always tried to show up as often as I could, and to do whatever was needed to help out. Even when they aren't "finished" 50's, I try to bring characters that are at least useful in some capacity... And for a long time, that seemed to be enough.
Lately, though, there seems to have been a lot of resentment building up over having sub-50 characters on raids, no matter what they are. Sort-of a not-so-subtle sub-text of "Oh, look. A mooching waste of space." that for me, personally, has really soured the experience. Yeah, Karasu and Nemissary were both 35 the first time I brought them on a raid... Suzume and Silver weren't much higher, either, back-in-the-day... but damned if any of them were the useless leeches it seems to be assumed lower-level characters are now.
I really don't like this "bring a 50 or you're A Problem"-business. No matter who ends up herding the cats, my one real hope is that that particular development in our little raiding community dies a quick death. Some people need to bring their 50's, yes. But trying to force them or shame people into doing it isn't going to work. It's just going to make them go find something else to do.

Are we, as a server, ever going to draw a line in the sand regarding the lowest level that we'll allow to participate in the msr?
Last week, we saw a level 1 show up. @noyjitat asked them to bring something else. Still - are we going to leave this up to the raid leader - where different leaders have different opinions on which level it should be?
Is the msr considered a "server event", or just a zone event? Either way, under that rationale, anyone that can get there should be allowed to participate.
I'm planning on leading the msr tomorrow - and I don't have a problem making the hard call - level 35 and up. But, if I do that, I don't want to have 9 level 50s and 4 level 36 through 49s.
Is there still demand for the msr? The last couple of times I stepped up to lead the raid, we had less than 24. Doesn't seem worth while to me.
What do you folks think?

@Ukase
We had a very nice run tonight - and what a difference it made with the level 35 floor. About 500 merits more tonight than last week.
If you were one who got surprised by this floor I set, I'm sorry if it was inconvenient, but you're more than welcome to lead a raid in my place. Just ask me for the star.

When I'm forming a MSR league I will not accept level 1s. Below level 35 it's hard to meaningfully contribute to a MSR, but some ATs and powersets can. I make a judgement call and have grown more skeptical on this as I see more and more people abusing MSRs as a PL opportunity. If you want to be sure of an spot bring a 35+. Before I commit to a hard line on level I want to talk to American Valor who runs raid tactics. I handle league formation and management. Whom to invite falls under both.
(One-time Exception: My SG the Sentinels of Liberty run by American Valor hosted a special 2xp weekend MSR that was advertised as open regardless of level. We arranged ahead of time for enough 50s and were thrilled when a few more showed up in addition to us.)
I absolutely will not accept leeches in my league. I've kicked for this and will continue doing it. When I do this the player goes on global ignore and I put a player note and one-star rating over their head so I never invite them again.

I have always run these as a server event, specifically replacing the Hami event due to the constrictions that had been put in place for Hami Raids.
When they introduced superside kicking which I was aganist because of exactly what you're mentioning here about lvl 1's. I was told then that it wasn't an issue so I dropped it.
Now we are formimng them up on league play with super sidekicking in place. This required a bit of logistics as now the league leader has to set up the teams and try to balance them.
(begin old timer rant)
Back in my day... We didn't have any fancy league formations or supersidekicking. Either you were on a team or made a team and were sidekicked to a 50. You had to be this tall to go on the ride (35+ secure zone) and your teams (min 3 w/7 raiders per team total 21) worked together with the leaders broadcasting in request and people actually following along. And We liked it. (/old timer rant)
As for the question of demand, As long as someone is willing to host the msr people will show up to it 21 is the min you should run with IMO. I know one sg who will kill the pylons with a team of 8, and then break up into two man teams to set the bombs. I heard a rumor that it was once completed by a team of three but I am very skeptical of that. (unless it was War and Peace)
We ran it last night started with almost 4 full teams end with 5 full teams. For us we split the duty for league setup and tactics doing both last night for half the raid was work I'm not used to. It still ran smoothly.
Raiders remember a thank you goes a long way, it's why I thank my SG partner every time we team for a great session.

Thanks, Valor. I feel the same. I really enjoy cohosting.
Last night I brought a level 46, anticipating holding league leadership for handling the logistics of the league. Unfortunately whenever I tried to transfer team leadership to Valor it bugged league leadership where neither of us had league leadership, despite the league leadership star remaining with me and him getting the team leadership. I had to quit and rejoin, thus bumping league leadership to him.
I won't do that again, I promise. Any MSRs we host in the future I will always bring a 50. It's easier with me handling invites and team juggling while he handles the cat herding. Yeah, one of us could do both (and have in the past), but we work well as a team sharing the load. I can bring my now level 47 blaster to one of Noyjitat's or Ukase's raids if I want to raid that character again. Generally I bring my 50s for the Grai Matters and it's never been an issue before.
See y'all same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.
