Most of the MM Pet names I've seen are homages.
[/ QUOTE ]
At least, a bunch of mine are.
Slave Driver's zombies are named after the characters in Office Space.
Neko Mecha's robots are named after cartoon cats.
Rotten Johnny's thugs are named after punk rockers.
Bot Torrent's bots are named after old movie comedians (Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, and Groucho Marx).
[/ QUOTE ]I do that with some of mine. My ninja MM did that for 4 of his pets. One of his genin (the one that usually dies first) is named Niiro Shatsu (a literal translation of "red shirt). His Jounin are named after a friend of mine's ninja character in a wrestling e-fed, and the second is Higure, named after the Magic: the Gathering card. The Oni is named after another friend who has a fire-based gimmick in the same e-fed.

Back during the CoV Beta I had a female merc Mastermind named Major Domonatrix. Cap/mask/uniform top half/fishnet bottom half. All she was missing was a riding crop. Think Annie Lennox from the 'Sweet Dreams' music video in a uniform and fishnets.
All her "minions" were named rank + nickname for male genitalia. Names like Private Peters, Sargent Willie, Corporal Johnson, etc.
What can I say, I was in an odd mood when I rolled her up. Also I knew she would be deleted after the Beta.

Was your MM an equal opportunity employer? If so, she should have also had a henchman named Major Wang.
My necro's zombies are named after the cast of Shaun of the Dead.
Lich- Shaun
Knights-Ed, Liz
Horde-Mum, Dianne, David
(the ghost is Pete when I have him in my build, but I've respec'd out atm)

I think I was saving him for the top most merc. Probably would have been Sargent Major Wang.
Didn't play her to that level. Also had a cowboy looking brute with spiked gloves name The Tenderizer.

My Mercs are all named after the cast of Apocalypse Now. Most people don't even realise that.
Generally, naming MM pets is pretty unlikely to get generic'd. Making a reference is fine, the rule is supposed to prevent attempts at depicting a copyrighted character in the game.

I used to play an alt based on the Mystic 8-Ball. I made binds for all the 8-Ball responses and only used the binds to communicate.

That is awesome too

Downside is that when I bought my new computer last year I didn't save my binds. I simply reinstalled CoH on the new system. I couldn't remember how to do the binds and gave up on them.
