Shield Wall: Teleportation Protection, +Res(All)

Resistance to all damage types - but there's a catch. The lookup table this IO uses to determine the resistance means the actual percentage varies by AT. Tankers get the full 3% benefit, Scrappers/Brutes get 2.25%, and it's less for squishy ATs.

Ah, thanks.
Steadfast protection does something similar right? (bonus depending on the AT)

[/ QUOTE ]

nope its 3% on all ATs

Steadfast is a +3% defense (not resistance) bonus. The lookup table it uses is static across all ATs, as is the Gladiator's Armor +3% def unique.

Interestingly, the Impervium Armor +Psi resist and Aegis +Psi/Status resist IOs have the same "scales by AT" lookup quirk.

Ah, the Impervium Armor is the other scaleable one i was thinking of.
Yeah, i knew Steadfast was defense not resistance - good to know about the tables though.

[/ QUOTE ]Defenders, Controllers, Masterminds, and Arachnos Soldiers/Widows get the same benefit as Tankers. Despite being squishy, they still have a 0.100 Melee_Res_Dmg modifier, just like Tankers.

(And in fact, Defenders and Arachnos soldiers/Widows also have a 0.1 Ranged_Res_Dmg modifier, while Tankers have 0.065)

Note that the ranged def mod is for ally buffs like Maneuvers - Defenders are supposed to be better buffers than Tanks.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, but they've also got the same Melee modifier as Tankers, too, which is what matters for the IO in question.

My point was that despite being squishies, they're also buffers, and Resistance is just another thing to buff, whether it's to self or ally. The buffers just don't get many powers that buff themselves.

On a related tangent, when an IO gives a flat bonus like this (or, for instance, Decimation's 10% Chance for Buildup) that doesn't scale to level, why would a higher level version of the IO be worth more than a lower-level one?

People like having clean numbers in their builds - 33s across the board for example.

Deamus the Fallen - 50 DM/EA Brute - Lib
Dragos Bahtiam - 50 Fire/Ice Blaster - Lib

Formally Dragos_Bahtiam - Abbreviate to DSL - Warning, may contain sarcasm

All PVP IOs mal down to lvl 1. As long as you had that slot at whatever level you go down to, you will get the benifit.

The Steadfast specials both work down to 3 levels below that of the enhancement

[/ QUOTE ]The exemplar system doesn't know anything about what level you placed a slot, just what level you took a power.

That's all? Numerical aesthetics???

Another reason the higher-level version is expensive is because (mostly thanks to the way merit and ticket random rolls work) there's a steady supply of certain recipes at max level, whereas that supply may be much less or nonexistent at lower levels. Instead of placing a lower bid and waiting a few weeks (in my case I've waited out lowball bids as long as 4 months), they'd rather pony up a lot more cash for something they know they can get immediately or within a day or two.
