mind you they thought they could drink like me

I can't remember the last time I drank like you claim to drink.

same here think I was in my earily 20s....
me and a 40 or more of vodka back in those days every weekend and then some, my job at the time and my ex bf drove me to drink .... some weekends my friends and I would go though a coffee table of the hard stuff, end the nights in the bathroom

Right now I finally got on a scedule... bed between 9-11pm up at 5/6am when hubbys up getting rdy for work, workout, housework, shower, lunch then cook dinner, one of these days kids will be tossed in the mix and I know these good night sleeps will come to a end

There's the rub with me. My schedule occilates like kid's mind in a candy shop.

Technically, I should go to bed between 8-9am and get up around 5pm, 7 days a week. This schedule keeps me in range for the bulk of my shifts and I should handle the leeway on a stretched shift.

That schedule is completely unrealistic though. As hard as I try to stay on that schedule, I either end up not falling asleep till 5pm one day, or I wake up after an hour or two and can't ever get back to sleep. This doesn't even cover the times when I work 7pm-7am and then have class till the afternoon, then have to stay awake 3 days studying.

I'm really starting to consider the idea of blending some pharmacoligicals and a stiff bottle, but I know the reality of that route would not be what I need.

It's either too hot, too bright, to humid, or too Florida for me to stay asleep this time of year, so I'm resigned to being an irritable zombie.

Cheers!

(seriously though...imagine a 3 day, pharmacoligially induced, coma under doctor's supervision....Vacation!!)

I'm curious what is your incentive is to stay awake longer than normal?

I was not asking you, but thanks. Other things under the "obvious" heading would be the obvious health impact of intentionally staying up for a protracted period. In other words: Avoiding sleep just to stay up and push the limits is self-destructive behavior. It may be fun or novel or even productive in a limited way but it is not healthy. I was curious if Dr. G was suffering from insomnia or had some other compelling reason to not sleep.

Ugh! He should have been relieved! Too many times I have run into people with prior military service who left not because they disliked the military, but because they worked for idiots.

72+ hours. I was in the Army.

There's actually a point where you get "beyond" sleep and the body won't shut down, even if you want to.

Around 3-1/2 days once, no fun reason...just good old depression after my dad passed. At the tail end, while walking back from my friends house, the world turned black and white, the bushes were hiding people who were stalking me, and I couldn't stop singing 'Bah, Bah, Black Sheep'.

Figured it was time for bed after that.

EDIT: Oh, OH, on the other hand, when I had Mono as a teen, a few times I *slept* for about 5 days straight, only to be woken (sp?) up by my Ma checking to see if I was still alive!
