Assassin Strike IO Sets?

What is so wrong with an AS IO?! Why must people look down on an idea!

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a difference between criticizing (which is what's being done here) and looking down on (which... well, look at City_Life's thread.)

There are flaws with the idea, things that could be fixed, things to debate over the necessity/possibility/desirability of, etc. That's what's being done here. The big problem, at least initially (and I mentioned this) is that you're taking a set that's served pretty well by melee sets as is, and making another "just plain" melee set usable only by one AT - read through everything, good and bad, that's been said.

What if the AS IOs reduced the interupt part of an AS?

[/ QUOTE ]

... that's not alterable, the way the power is designed. *shrug*

Oh, I'm aware of that. I'm mostly pushing back to get thought into "What would actually be acceptable/work" (as far as what they'd do.)

[/ QUOTE ]

Well how the heck should I know? Ask the devs.

I've spent two years suggesting what I honestly think are reasonable, balanced tweaks for Tankers. It could be argued the devs don't share what I think is and isn't acceptable since they've not jumped at adopting any of them.

And I'll repeat the objection about how they'd drop - especially if they can't filter them per side. (I know, going rogue may make this less of an issue - heh - but wouldn't eliminate it entirely.)

I think you just answered your own question. Cross-factional ATs makes this a non-issue IMO.

A merged market also makes this a non issue.

I think per-AT sets would just be a major source of envy.

If Scrappers got access to something cool that Tankers could in theory use, but couldn't because it had "Scrappers only" written on it, its going to lead to far more unhappy Tankers than happy Scrappers.

I can't think of a single case where I'd be pleased because I had an IO that other characters couldnt use due to some arbitrary rule.

Like there's no envy now for AT-specific things?

I wonder how many players would trade Gauntlet for Criticals or Fury?

In order to still make these prospective AT IOs open to more, what if they were designed like the PvP IOs?

The Set will give "normal" bonuses for anyone, but will also give extra bonuses if used by the correct AT?

If possible, that's not a bad compromise. I suspect it's not, otherwise why wouldn't they have done it for the existing sets?

Well, the PVP IOs did *just* come out (relatively.) Plus with the majority *not* being that way, it's one less thing to worry about as people get into them.

Still, for some future sets, that could be quite interesting.

Whilst Im not a huge fan of the concept of AT IOs, this would be the least unreasonable way of doing it.
