Abandoned Lab Portable Table For Bases
I think this is a awesome idea.

How about making it unlockable as a personal item that can be placed? It could be unlocked by simply having the Field Crafter accolade. That might give a little more motivation for some people to actually put in the effort to get Field Crafter.

What exactly is the value of a reward that is functionally identical to something already available?
Unless you meant it was free to place, or something.

The same value as having a tech/magic option for so many base items.
People like pretty bases.

Why have 15 different kinds of desks? Why have 6 different trees? Why have 2 versions of three sizes of paper piles, or three sizes of book piles?

But as an unlockable?

But as an unlockable?
[/ QUOTE ]Sure, why not? It's another neat incentive to get fieldcrafter (or to invite someone with fieldcrafter to your SG).

Yes, neat idea, a non exploding version of those tables would make a nifty looking alternative crafting table to be able to place in a base.
Linking it to beiing able to place it if a person already has the Field Crafter accolade would make sure it takes nothing away from the accolade reward, instead of just making it generally available in the base editor. The exploding, temp version is still handy for outside the base.

I have Field Crafter on one toon redside, and am working on it on another blueside. I have NO intention of getting it on anyone else. Adding this as an option would not give me any incentive.
Personally (and maybe this should be a different thread), I think they should get rid of all the duplicate items that are functionally identical so that we have ONE vault, ONE crafting table, ONE desk, etc. Then, on the info window in the editor, add a drop-down menu with a list of skins. Then, for your crafting table, for example, you could choose "Arcane", "Tech" or "Whatever you call the Abandoned lab version", with an easy way to add more, without needing to bloat the database with "new" items that are really just a reskin.

This is what I was getting at. This does nothing at all to sweeten the appeal of Field Crafter, primarily because it's a purely cosmetic reward with limited application.
Secondarily, because Field Crafter and its requirements are hideously designed in the first place.

Oh NOOOO That would be so boring! If anything I want more options so I have a better chance of being unique. What you are suggesting means that aside from room placement everyone's base would look almost identical. What's the fun in that?
Heck off the top of my head I want...
A bed that doesn't have restraints. I have a sleeping quarters in my base and it would be nice to have a BED for the heroes to sleep in. Currently they have 2 options a rough looking wooden cot or a straw mat on the floor (Yeah THAT looks comfy)
Desks, aside from the few we have now that allow stacking, and items like computers that can be individually placed on them.
WATER.. I know a lot of SGs that have manufactured swimming pools but all they really have is a plain blue floor. It is feasible we can swim IN game so give me water as a floor option so I can have an actual pool for pool parties.
I want those privacy screen you find in Mother Mayhem's asylum .. I have an infirmary and it would be nice and LOOK right if each patient had those for modest purposes.
More and DIFFERENT types of pictures and wall decorations.. We currently have 3 modern art pictures we can hang and 2 are huge.
Ummm Okay I could probably go on for a LONG time but you get the idea. We want more options NOT less.

You misunderstood them (or didn't read their entire post). They're saying instead of having a menu with three separate entries for a single type of item (Tech Vault, Arcane Vault, Whatever Else), they condense them into just one option (Vault), followed by a pull-down list of the different versions (Tech, Arcane, Etc).

Ohhh your right I guess I stopped reading and went into mini panick mode at Get rid of all but one desk. I DO like that idea we could actually customize the look of anything that way and make the bases even more unique. I will go stand in the corner now and be quiet.
Can I add one thought? hehehe Make different sizes for that one desk etc. So we'd have a large, medium and small version all with a pull down.. the possibilities could be endless.

Can we please get the worktable from the Abandoned Lab as a base item (alternative to the normal invention table)?
