I get to the loading screen and it stays there till I ALT+Tab out to the crash screen. Need help. What info is needed?
I'm using Vista 64-bit Home version.

Attempt to run it in Safe Mode.

Start the launcher, tick the Safe Mode check box, and launch the game.

You could also use Verify Files to scan for corrupted data.

Anyone have any idea why I can't load the game?

Put up a Hijack This report, there may be something conflicting.

So what do you mean loading screen. Do you get as far as logging in, selecting a character and then it hangs or is it earlier?

I seem to remember that there was one version of the ATI drivers that really didn't play well with the game, at all. Sadly all I remember is it was one of the version 8 drivers.

The game crashes right when I agree to the ToS and it enters the loading screen. Can't select a character or anything, the crash report comes up and the game crashes.

First off, download and install TweakCoH so that you can adjust the graphics settings before launching the game.

Second, follow the instructions in BillZBubba's ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations thread that is stickied in this forum.

You may want to check to see if you can find updated video drivers for your video card. If your computer manufacturer doesn't have updated drivers, you can likely find drivers that will work at Omega Drivers, although I'll admit it's been a while since I've checked out their drivers. My laptop still runs the game fair (especially considering how old it is) and I don't use it for gaming that often so I don't find the need to update the drivers.

Follow the settings recommended in BillZ's post as closely as possible, and then once you get the game running without crashing, slowly start tweaking the settings.

Since you are running Vista 64-bit, you may want to set the game to run in Windowed Mode instead of FullScreen. This will let you get to other tasks, the Start button, your browser and other programs while the game is running. It also will let you see the error box and get to it since it sometimes hides behind the game screen when it is Not Responding.

Update the ATI drivers.

The date of your drivers seem around the time of the 8.10 cats, and those caused crashing on load.

I've went to ATI's site and downloaded new drivers.
I've got a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 Hybrid X2.
Maybe I downloaded the wrong ones?

The issue is with most laptops you cannot just download the drivers from ATI, you have to mod the ones released for the desktop versions.

Have you tried reinstalling Directx yet? There has been alot of conflicts recently and for some odd reason reinstalling it ususaly helps. Not saying its a fix but worth a shot! Best of luck!

I truely do love consistancy since it makes things much easier on us tech heads!!! Thru all the changes made the exact same error in the exact same memory location keeps on comming up. I have two possabilities off the top of my head for you.

1 ) did you download this game via STEAM ( or any other download manager ) or was it a disk install?

If downloaded it may be a corrupted download ( DRM via STEAM and others can be corrupted with mulitple downloads streaming at the same time. ) It sucks but try a fresh download with only the game downloading.

2 ) You may have a bad memory sector on one of your sticks of ram. I did notice your memory usage is quite high even without the game running. Try killing off some of the none critical procesess and see if it will load. you can download Memtest here and test the Ram. Of course there is the old school method of remove one stick of ram at a time and test the system by trying to run the game heheh. Give that a shot and let us know how you get on!!

Looks like you went to the ATI 8.8's.

Can you try to mod to a version higher than 8.10?

Try 8.11 or 8.12.

Also, please post a current CoH Helper output file.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

It's not a memory stick. That error is because of a video driver malfunction. It COULD be the game install, as your first suggestion indicates, but otherwise it's probably a faulty video driver.

EDIT: or could be a bad video CARD come to think of it.
But it's 99% likely to not be system memory

In device manager I have two sets of drivers...
One set for an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 Series
and another for an ATI Radeon 3200 Graphics.
The 3200 has a warning sign on it.
It's like when I installed new drivers they didn't install.

Still the 8.8's it would seem.

Are you sure you are pointing the modder to the newest files?

I suggest you go into the ati folder c:/ATI/SUPPORT and delete all the folders there.

You have got to get beyond the 8.8's/8.10. if you want to play this game.
