female capes

Why do female toons not have the same cape selection as male toons? what does gender have to do with cape design?

I think you need to list some specific cases. As far as I know, everything is nearly identical for male/female, except for a few choices of the button pins.

IIRC, the only difference is the Arcane cape from the Magic booster.

When i make a female toon of any type the long cape selection is unavailable and so none of the designs i.e. insect wings and various patterns are not available...when i go back and chagge nothing but the gender these selections become available.

Satch - something is wrong. I was running a nice lady with the long cape this very morning.

Capes, with certain exceptions like the off-one-shoulder model, aren't available at design time to any of our three genders (male, female, and huge). We still have to slog to 20 and do the cape mission to unlock them.

I don't recall running into different cape options at character creation based on gender, but haven't done a new character with one of the limited cape options for awhile. Also not sure how buyable cape options fit into the mix these days. But it seems to me what you describe, as you describe it, would be a bug.

Watches to see if someone else has a more hands on explanation.

Zombie_Man had a good list of cape bugs in his post here.

Now, notice I said these were the options for Male and Huge Models. For the Female Model at level 1 only this was available under High Collar:
Basic > no detail2
Arcane > no detail2
Valkyrie > no detail2

Not only were the Long and DVD capes missing, but so was the Occult Cape which is very much a part of the Booster Pack. The Occult Collar was also missing for the Female Model.

The OP is correct.

Here's the capes currently available to a brand new character of male and huge body type:

Full Mantle (Valkyrie - requires mac pack)
Half Mantle (Valkyrie)
Asymmetrical Mantle (Valkyrie)
Over Shoulder Mantle (Valkyrie)
Single Shoulder Mantle (Veteran Reward, all options)
High Collar (Magic Pack, Basic/Occult/Arcane/Valkyrie/Long Cape)

The Long Cape option is available for high collar capes in the character creator at level 1. This is the case for male and huge. This lets you use all the standard cape patterns with the high collar cape.

Females only get Basic, Arcane, and Valkyrie as high collar cape options in the character creator. Females can only access the Long Cape options for the High Collar at level 20, and can't use the Occult pattern at all.

This is presumably a bug.

It being a bug is the most likely scenario, However I think it may be a bug one the Male and Huge side of the spectrum they may not be supposed to have all the cap patterns available.

One way or the other this should be bugged in game and on the issues and bug area of the forums since we cant actually give a definitive answer .

There is but one truth. Time is limited. ndnw its over

I was told last night that the single shoulder valkyrie cape is no longer available to me. I guess the guy I have with it will not be getting any costume change for a LONG time since 21 months is a ways off for me. He wears a kilt and it just doesn't look right without the cloth over his shoulder.

IMO you should get capes from level 1. It is so iconic of super heroes that it's strange it isn't that way already (I'd say the same thing about wings and bird-type wings in particular). If capes are only allowed at level 1 by veterans then I can live with that and it should be applied to the purchased capes as well.

However - If I buy a costume pack that includes capes I should have access to all the capes of that style including the one-shoulder capes (level 1 or 20, whatever). I bought it dang-it, I want to use it!

I call this... "The Lady Cape"

I would call it a shawl or more recently the Swan cape - lol

I would LOVE to have this available with various patterns for the women. For men something similar could be attached to trenches and jackets as a duster.

I know I read it. I just wanted to blow off steam. I agree with you though I assume the extra options available to males on the magic cape is a bug that will get fixed eventually.

I still want my shoulder cape back.
