Revitalizing CoH
Good ideas and bad ideas both in there.
TF Changes:
- I can only see granting a travel and attack power for Positron and maybe Synapse. If you don't have a travel power by level 20 for Sister Psyche that is your own fault. And you should have all the attacks you need by then as well.
- A slight bump to merits would be nice, but they're really okay as they are.
- The drop rates and mission counts of most of them are fine, the outliers are the Shadow Shard TFs. Fewer missions in Dr. Q would be nice.
MA Changes:
- Yes to custom groups requiring at least one minion, one LT, and one boss critter.
- No to recipe and salvage drops in MA missions. That is the point of tickets. If you put drops in missions you might as well remove tickets completely, which I doubt will ever happen.
Safeguard Changes:
- I see no real problem with this one, provided it exemps you for the duration of the Safeguard.
Costume Piece Changes:
- I'd rather not see any more costume pieces attached to badges, especially the harder to acquire badges.
Currency Changes:
- You already can purchase any of the things you mentioned with Reward Merits. The exception is the Unique purple recipes, which are not purchasable in order to ensure that they remain rare. Purchasing with tickets is redundant. Also, the ticket drops are intended to replace the normal chance of a recipe drop that doesn't occur in MA missions.
World Events:
- For starters, we don't really have any true world events that something like this could be obtained from. Second, we don't need yet another kind of currency, we have 3 as it is.
SG Changes:
- Yes to the first, although I don't know of too many SGs that are pushing the current limit of 150.
- No to the second. My SG has a network of coalitioned SGs that we use to form teams and TFs. Cutting that in half would do nothing but hurt us. I'm sure there are a LOT of SGs that could say the same thing, this would do more harm than good, and I have to admit I don't see the point of this one.
Like I said, some good ideas and some bad ones. I shared my opinion on which are which.

no to all of it. all are bad ideas with the acception of the safegaurd/mayhem idea.
1: TF/SF changes: nothing about them needs to be changed other then giving the villians some for the lv ranges that they don't have one for.
2: MA changes: not every mob you fight in a regular dev created mission has bosses unless set for 7-8 people. and regular drops can already be obtained from doing HoF and Dev's choice arc's in MA.
3: Safeguard/Mayhem changes: sounds good.
4: Costume pieces: NO. not a good idea at all.
5: Curency changes: i don't think you even know what currency means. you can already purchase whatever recipe you want with merits at a higher cost then random rolls. and we have, if you count vanguard merits separate from reward merits, 4 types of currency in the game. 3 types per side.
6: World events: again you don't understand the word "currency". there is no need for a world event or salvage currency. not to mention it would get the people who just couldn't grasp the whole base salvage/invention salvage concept and got base salvage removed.
7: SG/VG changes: absolutely not. 150 members is fine and if anything coalition needs to be raised to maybe 15 groups or so.
Oy.... OK, where to start...

Taskforce Changes
-When a team leader agrees to form a signature taskforce, each member of that team will be granted a temporary travel power, and attack power that is derived from the offering hero's origin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Origin based - no.
Temporary travel power - not needed past, perhaps. Positron.
[ QUOTE ]
-The number of reward merits awarded by signature taskforces have been significantly increased.
[/ QUOTE ]
They datamine this as it is and adjust it as they feel it's needed... up OR down.
[ QUOTE ]
-Taskforces not required for the "Taskforce Commander" accolade have had their recipe drop rates increased and mission counts reduced.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why, exactly?
[ QUOTE ]
-Players can now form any taskforce at the registrar's desk in Atlas Park.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thematically doesn't make sense to me. Besides, why add MORE travel time? Go to the registrar to start an ITF? A Shard TF? How does this help?
[ QUOTE ]
Mission Architect Changes
-Custom enemy groups now require at least one minion, lieutenant, and boss creature.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. Too limiting. If I want to pull some out and not include a boss, I should be able to do so. If I just want two minions to specifically use, say, as clones that will appear repetitively battling security forces, I should be able to do so.
[ QUOTE ]
-Player made story arcs now offer recipe and enhancement drops at a reduced rate compared to normal story arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
You have tickets. Use them.
[ QUOTE ]
Changes to Safeguard Missions
-Players that cannot normally obtain safeguard missions due to level restrictions can now visit the PPD training building to experience lower level safeguard missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
One I don't actually see an issue with...
[ QUOTE ]
New Costume Pieces
-New badges have been added that unlock new costume pieces, primarily chest and cape details.
[/ QUOTE ]
*shrug* OK, I suppose.
[ QUOTE ]
Currency Changes
-Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Unique class recipes can now be purchased directly with reward merits and mission architect tickets, for a significantly greater cost than reward rolls.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm assuming you're looking at this mostly for the purples... which I'm really not for. Merits already allow you to purchase the others - and IMHO, given how easily tickets drop, the price in tickets would have to be many, *many* orders of magnitude higher.
[ QUOTE ]
World Events
-A new salvage currency has been added for participating in world events. Recipes can be purchased for a much lower cost using these tokens.
[/ QUOTE ]
1. "oh, yay, another currency."
2. What are you defining as a world event - something along the lines of Rikti invasions, or along the lines of GM spawns?
[ QUOTE ]
Supergroup Changes
-We have dramatically increased the maximum number of members a supergroup can have.
[/ QUOTE ]
Already doubled once. I tend, if there's going to be a change, to be more in favor of making it "global account" limits with however many characters instead of just piling in more characters - though the actual characters count for prestige (first 15, etc.)
[ QUOTE ]
-Coalitions have been reduced to a maximum of four supergroups.
[/ QUOTE ]
ABSOLUTELY not.
Most of these would "revitalize" COH like changing track rules to make runners run barefoot on carpet tacks would "revitalize" racing.
Posting upon reconsideration.
No to MA groups requiring minion, LT and boss critters.
The above posters made good points about that.
Look on the bright side, at least there was ONE good idea in there, that's a lot more than most people can say.

Already does : Sprint and Brawl

Why for those 50's who leveled only using AE and don't know how to get to other zones? All this would do is add more spam in Atlas.
[ QUOTE ]
-Player made story arcs now offer recipe and enhancement drops at a reduced rate compared to normal story arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
already do its called Devs Choice. Otherwise easy/crap farms would get drops.
[ QUOTE ]
-Players that cannot normally obtain safeguard missions due to level restrictions can now visit the PPD training building to experience lower level safeguard missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorta like this one. It would be easier if you are just exemplared to level cap on safeguard like a TF/SF.
[ QUOTE ]
-New badges have been added that unlock new costume pieces, primarily chest and cape details.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe 1 badge at either 40 or 50 thats allows cape details like logos. Maybe, would be nice if they were already in game.
[ QUOTE ]
-We have dramatically increased the maximum number of members a supergroup can have.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe. I tend to go with let the SG manage themselves. If you need room start a sister SG or purge low/no prestige or unlogged toons. Raising the cap to 250 if possible with without major coding changes.
[ QUOTE ]
-Coalitions have been reduced to a maximum of four supergroups.
[/ QUOTE ]
No Thats like saying you can only have 4 friends instead of 8. Again the bigger the better but let sg manage themselves.
<QR> Other than the Safeguard suggestion, I don't like any of these, for the reasons already stated.
And to emphasize, I will never agree to a suggestion of ANOTHER form of currency...we've already got PLENTY. If the devs force one on me, I'll beach and moan, but I'll use it. But I'll never back a player's suggestion for one.
1. Influence/Infamy
2. Prestige
3. Reward Merits
4. Vanguard Merits
5. Tickets

I actually kind of like the first idea of a task force exclusive temp power. Would be nice to feel like the greatest heroes in the city are actually giving us some assistance as we do stuff for them.

Mission Architect Changes
-Custom enemy groups now require at least one minion, lieutenant, and boss creature.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, no. There are things that can only be accomplished in the MA by creating a group with a single character in it. Altering this would destroy a number of story-based arcs I've played. I have barely touched the MA since the last patch, the very last thing we need is to remove yet more flexibility and functionality from it. The farm potential is a small price to pay for this; it would be a significantly more damaging blow to good stories than it would farming.
Also re: the costume pieces unlocked by badges. Bad idea. There are already too many costume pieces that have to be "unlocked" in this game. From now on any new pieces need to be available to all players at level 1 with no prerequisites.
