a few Quality of life requests.

Hey all (and Devs).

I was just thinking about a feature or too I would like to see in the game so I thought I would post about it. Just small things really, that I hope would be quick and easily added.

1. Let me pick my Detective please. Take Kings Row for an example. I would prefer to use the Detective outside the police station and it's random which one I get when I first zone in. Could you make it so you would have the option in when you talk to them (radio/paper mishs) that they could say something like "well, your supposed to report to Det. Becktrees but I can help you too"

1b) umm Cell phone to Detectives too pls.

2. Target distance. The game already has the ability to tell you how far something is (as it does when you select something on the map) could you also have it do that for whatever you have selected?

Thanks.

I believe the detective you get is based on your origin, I could be wrong though.

I really like the target distance idea, maybe it could show up in the Combat Attributes window as 'Current target distance', so it could be monitored with the other stats.

No it appears to be random, as I have run a team of 2 of the same character and gotten 2 different guys (I dual box, so a team of 2 Fire/Kins or whatever, exact same build).

but were they the same origin, though? The powersets and builds are different than your origin (natural, mutant, etc.)

Someone say something funny.

They are identical in every way including origin, so that I dont have to goto 2 different stores for So's Do's ect.

While I don't know why they gave multiple contacts for newspaper or police radio missions, this has to be one of the most obscure targets for a "quality of life" request.

I can agree, but other than the first detective/broker, I don't see the need. Once you have a travel power of any sort, it really is trivial to go to the other one, and if i recall, they have different contacts they can give, which means your game can be different the second time through.

It maybe, however it's such a small thing. Choices my friends, choices. That, and I don't like having to enter the station every 3 or 5 mish's if I am unlucky, do Detectives not have cell phones? it wouldn't be soo bad if I didn't have to go to them rather then just call them.

It does seem ludicrous that the Police Radio can tell you that the detective wants to talk, but not actually connect you with the detective in question.
On the other hand, the villain's Newspaper is also unable to actually connect you with the Broker, so that's 'fair'.
Neither Detectives, nor Brokers give out their cell-numbers - annoying, but fair.
All Brokers (that I've run across) are outdoors and do not require you to run a maze inside the building, to reach - like Detectives. I concede that this is an annoyance and a QoL issue.

I'm not sure if its possible, but I would love for the Radio/Paper missions to be ordered by proximity. The first mission would be the closest to you, the second the next closest, and so on.

Doubtful, assuming Detectives and Brokers follow the same system. I've run every Origin except Natural, and my new Science Brute was the first one to get Boris the Russian in Cap Au Diable, despite having already run a Science character through there. My Level Pact partner is also Science, and didn't get Boris. Totally random.

The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)

Virtue Forever.

I was going to ignore this post but the 40 percent taunt enhancement caught me. I disagree with the level of obscurity assigned to this by you. I've personally noticed it, and I wasn't even looking for it, when scanners were first added. Although in my case I ignored it more for reasons of the low frequency with which I run into it and lack of testing to see if it was planned or arbitrary. Speaking of "arbit..."

Phew, thank god the arbiter of what is annoying and QoL issues allowed it through despite the above protests of obscurity. (I'd have thought something obscure would be something not in plain sight for everyone to see, such as a detective standing outside or inside, perhaps the inside one is obscure!)
