Blasters: Bomberman Edition?
I think the stealth would get broken.Wouldn't it be easier to set up the bombs around a corner and pull the mobs into them?
The act of setting the bombs wouldn't break stealth, but you would need another type of +stealth to add to CD in order to jump into the middle of a spawn. A +stealth IO or Super speed will work(or both, or even SS slotted with a +stealth IO and no CD)
Sometimes you get the bear; sometimes he get you, rips your head off, sucks out your eyes, pulls out your spleen, humps your leg and pees in your boots

Since when? Cloaking Device suppressed as soon as you activated Trip Mine or Time Bomb the last I checked, but it's been quite awhile since I've logged my Elec/Dev into the game and tried any toe-bombing.

It seems to suppress part way through the setting animation. I went sonic/dev for the AoE sleep to kick off with solo.

Since at the very least I13 when I got my first Devices Blaster set up with Cloaking Device, Trip Mine and a Stealth Proc. I stealth bomb all the time without being detected.
I haven't gotten to the point of adding Time Bomb to the menu yet, but I'm sure much more destructive hilarity will ensue.

Like I said, it's been awhile since I've used my /Dev blaster. I never bothered with Toebombing really anyway. I was content setting a few and TP Foeing someone into it, heh. Maybe if I grab a Stealth IO I might switch my tactics up a bit. It may give me a reason to pick up Time Bomb, assuming you can toe bomb with that.

If you have ENOUGH stealth you can safely plant the bomb without drawing attention. Cloaking Device by itself will not be enough. However, as was already mentioned, if you stack a +Stealth IO or Superspeed with Cloaking Device you should be fine.
Time Bomb is a fun power, but you definitely don't want to make it your primary strategy. Also, don't bother on teams, it will end up being a waste of endurance because the team WILL kill the entire spawn before the bomb goes off.

I know teams won't wait, and that I'd have to stack CD a stealth IO or something. I figured that would have been obvious.

I've been able to do it since I3 with my AR / Dev. The only time I couldn't was with an enemy with high Perception (snipers / Drones / certain Rularuu).

Er, that was a quick reply, I was addressing the OP's question.
I didn't put QR in front of my post because I didn't feel it was necessary.

What makes me sad is that people are missing the most obvious thing to stack with Cloaking Device: Smoke Grenade.
Never surrender! Never give up!
Help keep Paragon City alive with the unofficial City of Heroes Tabletop Role Playing Game!
Exactly... smoke them. As long as they are *all* smoked, you can toebomb with trip mine with your Clocking Device on. If you miss any with smoke bomb, that one will get alerted, thus alerting the others in the group.
Time bomb is too annoying to use, because it takes too long to go off.

21 seconds is too long for Nuke class damage? Also, Time Bomb gives a whopping 52.8% Defiance for 15 seconds (which I think is the largest single Defiance boost in the game).
Granted, it can be more troublesome in teams, but it is still a very worthy power, IMO.

You can usually take out a spawn in less than 21 seconds without using Time Bomb, but then again, there's no rule that says you have to set the bomb then stand around waiting for it to go off. Set it in one spawn, and move to the next one. Mostly, the "takes forever" is a perception issue of your character not doing anything noticeable. (no flashy powers -- you're just running up, crouching, and setting a bomb)

Yeah, my goal was not really a team thing, unless the team was all stealth bomber blasters or similar heroes.
So, it looks like my plan is Cloaking Device+Smoke Grenade+Time Bomb (when charged)+Trip Mine+Fire Blast AoE chain.
So the last question then, is how to get that time bomb recharge down as far as possible from its 6 minutes to something distantly resembling practical.

I'm basically a newbie here, but quick question: Can you put a stealth enhancement on cloaking device? I can't load into the game at the moment, but at the wiki it looks like it only takes Enhance Defense Buffs, Reduce Endurance Cost, and Increase Attack Rate. But I'm very shaky on the intricacies of the enhancement system.

Pretty sure they only have stealth IOs for the travel powers.
I run my blaster with a stealth IO in sprint, and cloaking device. Only thing that ever sees me are Rikti Drones.
I put it in sprint so I'm not stuck taking superspeed. This way I still have hover for the whole float like a butterfly, sting like a bee thing.

Ah, yes, I just found some information about it. I wasn't familiar with it until just now. It's a rather special kind of enhancement I guess. A bit confusing about where you can put them and how they work exactly. Freebird: Stealth could be put on hover, air superiority, fly, or group fly? It will activate whenever you use one of those powers and add to your stealth for 120 seconds?

I know the Air superiority one goes in Hover and fly, t should go in group fly, but don't quote me on that. Like I said, I have a celerity stealth in sprint. Mainly because I like to run sprint while in missions. Another thing is that, if you put an IO like the travel power stealth ones in a toggle it is active as long as the toggle is one then 120 seconds after the toggle is turned off.

Each non-generic IO belongs to a set - and each set belongs to a set category. When hovering over the enhancement, this is usually listed just above the set bonuses, as I recall.
Freebird lists itself as a "Flight" set.
Now, in the enhancement screen, hover over any power and it will list :
Enhancements Allowed : This applies to generic, non-set enhancements (generic IOs, HOs, T/D/SOs)
Enhancement Sets Allowed : This heading only applies in powers that take Set IOs (Rest does not any Set IOs, and does not have this section for example) - if it lists flight here, it will take Freebird or Soaring.
Air Superiority does not accept Flight Set Enhancements, but Hover, Fly, and Group Fly do.
EDIT : Now, the power Sprint takes both Jumping and Running IO sets - as such, you can put either category's stealth IO into it. This can help save you money.

Your right, thats what I get for posting after a long day. I know I meant freebird, but for some reason I had Air Superiority stuck on the brain.
So I had an idea, and I need to know some facts before I do the faceplant cycle from hell trying it out.
The idea being, just for fun of course, a Fire/Devices blaster (fire only for the near legendary aoe nature of it), using cloaking device to get right into the center of a mob, place time bomb, a couple seconds later dropping trip mine, followed by the traditional AoE chain from hell.
The assumed effect is that the two bombs will go off simultaneously, either with just each other, or with the rest of the attack chain as well, doing massive damage and dropping all but the toughest targets.
The questions being:
- Does stealth get broken by spawning a 'pet', such as the bombs are described?
- Is there a way to make this idea far more practical than the 6 minute recharge on the time bomb would allow?
- How much do the bombs actually do, damage wise? (this asked only because the power descriptions only say they spawn a 'pet', not how much the pet does when it pops).
