So, after being back for a month, ive done almost no pvp and its been 3 years since I last played. I have been playing an elec/sd brute for earnign inf and pve, but i now want to get into melee pvp, I'm THINKING duel stalkers. It seems /WP is the best secondary, so putting that aside ,what 2 primary's would compliment each other the most? thanks kindly.

PS stalker pvp isnt as uselessly broekn as people are saying scrapper/brute/tank is right? I hope.

my partner in crime is leanign towards spine willpower. If that helps. Maybe DM/Nin for me since theres a fear and caltrops?

The fear in DM won't do much in PvP anymore. Go either Spines or Elec Melee.

If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

I went with NB/Ninj, seems decent, does caltrops still stop people from flying away?

Flying? No, but it'll stop people from jumping for all of two seconds.

So, caltrops is useless? is nin/nin decent for pvp? im already lvl 20 and dont wanna reroll.

Eh, it's nothing spectacular. It's not bad, but it's not great either.

so, it seems you would suggest Elec or spines / wp? Im gonna duo with a spine/wp stalker, and wanted to try something different yet effective. Any suggestions plz?

The most effective character you can make is the one you practice with in excess. A good player can make even the worst sets look good against a bad player with a FotM build. Find the character you enjoy playing and play them till you know how they operate to the utmost detail.

For a stalker, any primary will do especially if your utilizing double AS with your friend. I would recomend (if he's going spines) an elec, you go AS, then because of quick activation time use Lightning Rod. If you can get it in before he runs, a thunderstrike will do you good. At this point the target is running away and your friend will have impale and you will use your Patron ranged attack to finish him off.

2 Stalkers can kill pretty much anything in PVP if you time your attacks.

although I agree that sounds like a fantastic duo, my brute is Elec melee and I'd rather try something new, I settled on NB/WP. Thanks for great advice either way, some good info there. Now to find a NB/WP guide.

You mean a Spines / WP guide. ;-)

ah, theres the guy i'll be dou-ing with. PS, he brought these forums a MEAN , detailed elec/sd brute guide. Used it and love it, but we both don't know much about stalkers and pvp yet, so if anyone can find us a spine/wp, and or elec/regen stalker guides that would rock.

Ps, ive waffled alot, but settled on elec/regen/soul .

HALP!

ok just make elec/WP or elec/EA. spines is ok, every other primary is absolute garbage. btw EA if you can get IO's, WP if you can't

Sorry, sticking with elec/Regen

Someone wanna explain what specifically makes elec melee so great? Better than spines or energy melee?

Thunder Strike. It's arguably better than AS when it crits.

When is the point.

I don't like electric.. it is too static and too mutch lucky based.

Spines or Em is better.

Anyway, i don't like willpower too! Yeah, u have more perception but hey: if u wanna fight u have to stay alive first. Regen is better.

If you don't like Elec for thematic reasons, that's one thing - though be aware that PvP effectiveness and theme/concept should not be mixed as it often leads to frustration. Thunderstrike's chance for crit in Hide is 50% - which is way more than the 5% or 10% a Scrapper gets on their attacks. Even without the crit, TS can still hit for around 600 damage which is nothing to laugh at.

As of right now the only thing Spines has going for it is Impale, and EM has pretty much nothing - ET and TF have long animations and their damage is not great compared to TS.

If you're going to try to "scrap it out" on a Stalker (which is your definition of "staying alive" - for most Stalkers "staying alive" involves hit-and-run tactics), Regen might be worthwhile. However, "scrapping it out" is nowhere near the most effective or safest way to play a Stalker and you will die often because of your low HP. You only have to stay alive long enough to AS and get one or two follow up attacks off, at any rate. WP brings +perception and an auto +HP power to the table, both of which are incredibly helpful.

Electricity Melee is good in pvp now??

Or Energy melee you mean?

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Electric, strangely enough.

Thunderstrike is hitting like a dump truck full of headbutts, apparently.

I don't care about thematic, i simply don't like an archetip where all u have is one spell and where u have to hope it crits cause if not all u can do is run away most of time.
U say spines is good only for impale, but elec has only one good spell too.
Point is, with spines u have range and can use ur personal skill for a combat stratgy.. with Electric u only have to pry ur god for a nice crit.

And well, some ppl probably like it .. not me.

This point is opinable anyway.

This isn't (opinable).

First: can u explain me for what u need +perception so mutch outside arena?

Second: Regen has the highter survavubility in game (for stalker course) and i don't care a silly +auto hp when i have 2 healing spell, 51% cc resistence always on and 71% more activable.
Oh, and an ability for 40% more Hp for 2 mins.

Offcourse with regen u have to use more ur fingers (and ur mind aswell) but if u use it well WP looks like ridicolous.

This is my opinions at least.

The main reason you need perception in general for pvp, is because pretty much everyone is using stealth i/o's and/or conceal pool. You can't kill what you can't see in most cases(unless you pull random luck at throwing off AoE's and clip a person that is stealth'ed)
