How about a toggle to disable mail

This may have been brought up before, sorry if it's a recent repeat...

In the past three years I have received exactly 1 in-game mail that was not real money transaction spam. If I could remove/toggle off/whatever the email function on my game account I could avoid dealing with the 50 emails from 'empty' every day.

Alternatively, a toggle to only allow mail from friends (server or global) would also be fine.

I realize I could just ignore it, but it's a red spot in my view and draws attention. I can just continue to delete them, but I'm here to play. Why should I need to do work because spammers are still in the game? They put a toggle in to not hear the enemy faction while in PVP, why not a toggle to ignore the spammers?

You could also limit the number of emails allowed to be sent from a trial account (to 1).

Best is filters, but letting anyone who chooses not to receive mail to do so would only be polite. The spam really irks some folks, others not so much - but this would be the right solution because each user decides for himself how to deal with it.

Main opposition is from people who fear that RMTers will go back to burning out their shill accounts with tells or broadcasts instead, though I think this would be less cost-effective for them, as reports to the GMs would be instantaneous.

I'm up for any ideas on stopping spam email. I accidentally ignored spammered several people I know who sent me an email a few days ago.

I've gotten into the habbit of looking at my email, and just machine gunning the spam button.
