New Badge and Pet Ideas? What do all think?
I think being able to change costumes and sexes of the mm pets would be cool. Female thugs, female ninjas, female mercs and female zombies would be cool but bots you would not know the difference. Althought the Controllers/ Dom and Arachnos Solider pets should be more like the mm pets instead of like 15 minute bodyguards.

For the last - Mastermind "pets" are henchmen. Controller pets are not. Bit of a thematic difference. (Plus, it's not just "blueside," Dominators can't rename theirs, Corruptors can't (Dark Miasma,) SoAs that have them can't, no patron pet can be renamed... and even a Mastermind who takes Dark Miasma can't rename the Dark Servant.)
That said, I wouldn't argue with being able to name them. *shrug* Not like they don't have nicknames anyway.
I did not mean that naming pets for trollers/ doms and AoS but I meant letting them stay around longer and be able to control them better like mm pets. I was working on my Crab soldier and I have all 5 pets for him and I was fighting an EB from a distance and they were busying taking out a minion that came close and then when they were done they just stood there watching me take out this EB and did not attack but if I had pets like a mm than I could have told them to attack this EB with me and they only stick around for a few minutes also.

1) a badge for defeating Sappers ( ? 500 )
[/ QUOTE ]
There are already several badges for the Malta group. Additionally there are the mezzed badge series. This will not happen.

2) we have badges for mentoring people, why not badges for time spent exemplar'd
[/ QUOTE ]
Because they have never tracked time spent exemplar'd everyone would have to start at zero. This would raise such a fuss from badge hunters that there would never be another badge added to the game.
This has a snowball's chance in heck of happening. So for the OFFICIAL RESPONSE, I will point you to a post by Positron.

I would love to see badges given for damage dealt, like we do for damage taken or healed. Is there a reason this has not been done yet?
[/ QUOTE ]1) Because we can't datamine for these badges. Yes, it's a crappy reason, but if we introduce these badges NOW after almost 2 years, players will complain to high heaven that "Character X should have Badge Y," and there is no way to check.
2) Art. We'd need new art for the badges and the time window to get new, unplanned, badge art is "not anytime soon"
[/ QUOTE ]
The same reasons apply here.

3) Some badge for rescuing the people on the street, that are being mugged, terrorized, etc - maybe 1000 rescues over the career of a person's toon. After all, even Superman wasnt to High and Mighty to rescue a little girls cat from a tree now and then - a badge title such as Hero of The People (?)

See previous point.

... won't happen without massive nerfs to the pets. Minions are the core of the Mastermind AT itself, pretty much their point for existence. They're not for any other AT. A controller, crab, dom, etc. can function perfectly well without ever taking a pet (ignoring illusion, which isn't a very controllery set to begin with.) Masterminds... not so much.
Plus controller and dom pets are, for the most part, permanent. (Long, LONG duration, so functionally permanent.)

[/ QUOTE ]In point of fact, Controller/Dominator pets last the exact same time as Mastermind henchmen. 27+ hours.

Just saying that the Crab pets and Troller and Dom pets need better control on what to attack like mm pets. With my Crab fighting a EB it took me about 10 minutes to get him killed and my pets just standing there watching, I could have had him killed in less time if I could tell me pets to attack. If there is not any control over them than what is the point in having them?

YOU are your main source of damage as a Crab. Run a bit past the EB, the pets should follow and engage. For you, they're just a little extra. If you're relying on them for a primary damage source, you're doing something wrong.
For a controller, their entire schtick is ... get this... control. When something is under a control, they get double damage. The pet's a helper. Doms have it even better, IMHO, as their secondary *is* damage. The pet is icing.
With a mastermind, the pets are the main source of damage (and hit points, and general survivability.) They MUST be directed. It's the whole point. And far different from the point in any other AT.

Technically these badges are not directly counted as Malta as you say. Sappers are just used to farm for them. You could use other if you wanted to, like Illusionists.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, but Sappers are least likely to be capable of ever killing you, since they have no damaging powers.

I understand that about the Crab but it would be nice to have the option especially if you are used to playing with mms.
After getting a badge for achieving 500 bagdes, I want a badge for getting 501 badges.

The big problem with adding new badges to the game is that they have to be able to award them to existing characters that may have already earned the badge. If they dont have and cant get data on what has previously happened, they cant create a badge.
Take Sappers for instance. Since they have never tracked Sapper defeats in the past and there isnt any way to tell how many Sappers your character has defeated they cant create a new badge for defeating Sappers.

That wasn't a problem when badges were first introduced. They couldn't backtrack defeats, and they told us that up front. A few grumbles, but no major problem came of it.

Sure they can. There's no rule that says the badges have to be retroactive. It would be nice if it were, but it doesn't have to be. That's a bad reason not to add a badge. Sure, people would complain if they did it, but they would shut up just like they always do after the new-ness wears off.

You were not around when badges were introduced or you have forgotten. "A few grumbles" is a vast understatement.
The truth is that most badges were in fact awarded retroactively. The data mining process took months and not everyone got everything they should have but the majority were satisfied. However there were some fairly loud complainers in the minority.
Just a few thoughts.....after talking to quite a few other players of the game, all seem to agree badges for the following would be a good idea:
1) a badge for defeating Sappers ( ? 500 )
2) we have badges for mentoring people, why not badges for time spent exemplar'd
I would love to hear other people's suggestions and ideas - what badges do you think are sorely missing from the game?
Pets - my big peev....why can MMs name theirs and somewhat choose their actions....Blue Side pets are unalterable. An Controller, I am sure, would love to name his/her pets different names like MMs do, but that feature is never introduced.
Let me know all what you think!
