EB/AV filter?
I would rate it as I'm pretty sure the AV can't appear without the author putting them in there. I have noticed a lot of overpowered missions, there is just too much tendency to want to give your creation all the powers but the impact can be over the top. If you set the mob as an Easy Elite Boss they will spawn as a boss against solo characters (not sure how many players will promote them to EB). I'm pretty sure if you designate them an AV they will always be an AV and the only thing that scales is there level. I had to do this in my mission because when I put him as a Boss he would spawn as a LT against solo heroes. I haven't tried the mission with a full group yet but since the EB is set to easy I am hoping he won't get the purple triangles of doom, because then it may be impossible to stop him fleeing at the end.
EB/AV's definitely have to be placed. I too noticed way too many in arcs I've tried. Probably why my first try at an arc contains no EB/AV's and I state such in the description. The end boss in mine will actually scale down to a Lt. if you are solo.
An automatic text appearing would be nice, but in the meantime people will learn they need to be more descriptive if they don't want low ratings is my opinion on it. Rate away. Would be nice to leave them feedback as to why, but I know some are scared they'll be retaliated against if they leave a negative comment.
I think perhaps I will give a middle rating to these, with the comment that they should indicate in the description that there is an EB/AV and that if they fix that aspect I will go back in and re-rate it higher.

If you play on Heroic then the AV will spawn as a boss.
Also, Consider this: I just published my arc last night, ran it with a team of friends, and they all said the Elite Bosses were too easy for a team and should be made into AV's. Now the only way for the mission to have an AV at the end is to create it as such in the critter creator.
But a solo player gets around having to fight an AV by setting his difficulty lower. Problem solved.
So, no disrespect here, but I don't see this as a problem for the mission creator, but the player. MA missions are different from what the devs have given us before. The normal difficulty settings that you got used to using may need re-thinking. This isn't the mission designer's fault.
MA mission designers really have their hands tied in a number of ways. I know with my arc I had to do the best I could with a system that is, shall we say, "particular." I wanted to place encounters in specific spots. I wanted to make spawn sizes larger. I would like to specify that an AV be made into a boss for a team of 1 or 2 players. None of these things I can do. Giving a "meh" rating to a story because you like to play with your difficulty higher than it really should be for MA arcs is rather unfair, IMHO.

The AVs I have used dropped down to EBs for small teams and low difficulty levels. However, I have only tried a few AVs that fit my plot ideas, so it's possible that not all of them drop to EBs. I did test one Giant Monster (the hydra blob guy, forget his name), and he didn't scale down at all, even when solo.

If you play on heroic an AV will spawn as an EB. At least this is how it occurs in my arc. EB spawns as a boss and the AV spawns as an EB.
See, I am getting conflicting info about the scaling process of AV's and EB's. I'll experiment with difficulty settings.
If I am on the next to hardest difficulty, then I will never see an AV? Is that right?
No some scale and some are hardcoded to never scale(PvE's). ALL of the CREATED AV's scale down.

Well I have been running on Heroic and have encountered EBs that were obviously set to HARD as the were a constant stream of attacks including, knockdowns, holds, mezzes and stuns. It made it impossible to solo at low level yet the missions were rated for all levels.
Edit: I also do recall that while testing an arc my AV spawned as EBs when I was solo Heroic.
Some AVs don't become EBs even when solo. I learnt that the hard way.
An example will be Viridian and Shadow Spider from Arachnos. They appear as AVs even if you are on Heroic and solo.

Good to know. Thanks.
As for ThePatriot, I must beg to differ here. With a few well-used inspirations, especially BF's and purples, any Elite Boss will go down. You may empty your tray out, but the inspiration vendor is right there in the building, yes? And one would hope that your base has inspiration storage bins for all the tier III goodness you might need.

I've noticed a few MA missions giving warnings about EBs/AVs in the mission description. Others can't do this due to the 300 character limit for the descriptions. (My own included.)
If there's no way to include indicators, it'd at least be nice to have longer descriptions so we can manually include these courtesies without inhibiting the actual arc summaries.
Is there any indication whether a mission or story arc has an AV in it or an EB?
I've only seen the description say contains boss.
I've run some arcs, only to come up against an AV (or even a tough EB) solo and cannot finish them. It makes me want to give a low star grade because there was no warning, but then I realized I don't think the system really shows you whether or not there is an AV/EB, so I either don't rate it, or just rate it on what I was able to finish.
If there is not an indicator for an AV/EB, there really should be one. This game has done so much to be solo friendly, I would hate to see them not include some friendlyness in the in the MA.
