A Few PvP Questions
[ QUOTE ]
1)Level
Hands down my favorite PvP instance is Siren's. While it caps on lv 30, if you go there at higher levels, the slots past lv 30 will help there? Or IO Sets that are higher? All in all should I expect much harder time on PvP before level cap?
[/ QUOTE ]
You have the benefit of all slots after level 30. However, set IOs will follow exemplar rules so if you want all your bonuses at Siren's levels you'll need to make sure you buy level 33 or lower set IOs.

2)Where?
I know 3 relatively active places to PvP: Sirens, RV, and Arena. Which of them you guys think to be more balanced? Or each of them has their own FotM?
[/ QUOTE ]
Siren's PvP is, according to some, more balanced and fun simply because everyone isn't running around with phase, sharks, Elude, or PFF. I like having Phase as an "oh [censored]" button and am not one of those peopple who will only leave PFF to take an attack or two, then turtle back up in it.

3)IO Sets
Many expensive/famous IO sets have relatively small bonuses. Its few percent bonuses will make a noticeable difference for PvP? Basically, assuming 2 players with relatively similar skill, how huge is the advantage of a full IO slotted toon versus another full decked out in IO SETS?
[/ QUOTE ]
Small bonuses won't make much of a difference. It's when you stack them that the difference becomes apparent. However, with diminishing returns, the value of some set bonus types is greatly lowered (such as recharge, regeneration, and recovery). Only two bonus types that DR doesn't hit are +HP and +damage, I think, so building around those is always a safe bet. Assuming two players on similar characters with similar skill, the one with the extra HP and damage will probably win, barring lucky hits/misses and things of that nature. The "you need IOs to PvP" myth is just that - a myth - but when you're up against people of even skill, IO sets often give you that miniscule advantage.

4)Pool Powers
Is it true that Flurry and some other powers laughable at past are now interesting for PvP? Why?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep. Flurry and Kick. With damage based on activation time now, powers that were previously worthless suddenly became a lot more useful.

My current main is a MM (Nin/Pain), and I plan to start a PvP oriented character soon. Any AT/comboyou guys would recommend (redside or blueside)? I'm looking for anything really, that is solid enough to start getting the "feel" of pvp again, before trying more original/daring toons.

Here's a quick breakdown of primary and secondary sets for ATs that are working right now:
* Blaster - Psi and Sonic, and to an extent Fire and Ice, paired with Energy or Devices
* Controller - Illusion and Fire, and somewhat Earth and Ice, paired with Storm or Force Field (until PFF nerf anyways)
* Defender - Force Field (until PFF nerf), Cold Dom, Storm, paired with Sonic or Psi
* Scrapper - Spines, and somewhat Fire and MA (lol), paired with Regen or SR
* Tanker - Fire, Ice, and somewhat Shields, paired with SS
* Kheld - not really, but a well-built Peacebringer is somewhat decent
* Brute - SS, paired with Fire, SR, or somewhat Energy
* Corruptor - Sonic, Fire, somewhat Elec, paired with Cold, Storm, or Thermal
* Dominator - Mind, Fire, and somewhat Earth, paired with Elec or Fire
* Mastermind - Ninjas or Necro, paired with Pain, Storm, or Poison
* Stalker - Spines, paired with SR, Ninjitsu, or somewhat Energy
* VEAT - Night Widow is tops, Fortunatas are still good, Banes are not bad if built and played well
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Great info right there, thanks a bunch macskull. Still, if anyone has something to add feel free to.

Mac covered it pretty well.
Balance:
The only place you can reliably find balance is in an arena event organized by yourself or someone you know who's good at it. While there are plenty of fite clubbers who yell out in the zones "Duel me!" you're still going to be fair game for anybody in the zone on the opposing side.
Hopefully, Open Beta will come soon and arena matches will be easier to come by.
anyone know the details on the PFF nerf?

Speculation is speculation...even if its credible....I require to see it for myself first...but seriously...anyone know the details if they do actually nerf it.? are they lowering the def...raising the rech time etc?
Anyone that is in closed beta testing can not give you any details about any changes that may have been done to any powers due to the non-disclosure agreement that each person accepts to abide by.
So you will just have to stop asking and have to wait on I14's open beta testing to see how any powers have been changed.

i heard they nerfed elusivity but increased diminishing returns on tohit so it maxes out at 85% instead of 106%.
and gave forts and widows both access to pff added to the pool with sharks.
but i could be lying, or am I?
Elusivity needs to be nerfed, but also global acc needs to be nerfed. That is, DR needs to affect global acc more, like it does tohit.
I'm afraid that if they simply nerf elusivity (which DOES need to happen), defense sets will become useless again because of all the serious builds having crazy +acc bonuses now.

Defense sets were useless?
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.
Considering they could be hit by any blaster or any defense debuffer at will, yes. Maybe useless isn't the right word. Is gimp better? There was absolutely no doubt in anybody's mind that regen, for example, was better than SR. And it wasn't even close. Now SR is basically god mode and is considered way more fotm than regen.
Defense was most definitely not useless.
I don't remember my widow being useless before, nor my Ice/EM tanker. Sure, when those Fire/EM blasters hit Aim + BU I better had Phase or Hibernoob handy, but most of the time my defenses alone did a perfectly good job at saving my rear end.
About the only thing that consistently posed a threat to defense characters was double stacked rage and unresistable debuffs.

lol...widows are very new in this game. I was talking about defense throughout the history of this game, not just in the last half year. And Ice tanks were never considered great because of their defenses. It was hibernoob combined with slow resistance that made them FotM.
I think pretty much any serious PvP'er that's been around a while will tell you that defense was always sub-par until I13.
Well, I don't think anyone here cares what defense was like in issue 7. I'm referring to right before i13 hit. Defense wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Sure, some ATs will still hit you and some defense characters will suck. I couldn't kill squat with my DM/SR brute, but that was mostly because melee, and particularly DM, sucked at PvP.
On the AT's suggestions on the earlier posts - are spines and energy really the only stalkers worth pvp'ing with? I've been flirting with the idea of a kat/nin. No go?

BTW Mac.
For Corruptors, having Kinetics as a secondary is nice. The End Drain on Transference seems to come in quite handy most of the time, making it a lot easier for people with Debuffs (Such as Rads) to lose all their End which, obviously will detoggle their debuffs. The only thing i don't like about Kinetics is that the Heal has a chance to miss. Often causing any duels or battles to end quite horribly for the Kinetic. Although some people can recover from a missed heal, its not easy. Especially with the Heal suppression. Power Boost will always come in handy with that though. :P
And for Masterminds, there's a real popular build out there atm, Thugs/Pain Domination. It seems to do pretty well. Not many things out there that can kill one.
I'm a returning player, been away from the game for more than 1 year. I understand PvP on a game with so many varied powers and ATs just HAS to have balance issues, but I still had some fun. So, help me figure how to best return to pvp with these few questions:
1)Level
Hands down my favorite PvP instance is Siren's. While it caps on lv 30, if you go there at higher levels, the slots past lv 30 will help there? Or IO Sets that are higher? All in all should I expect much harder time on PvP before level cap?

Guess thats it for now. Thanks in advance everyone.
