Best of 2008

Man... I'll have to go thru my gallery when I get home. There's so much...

"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."

An interesting exercise, but as someone who only commissions (as I can't draw myself) I'd only particpate if I can omit the "worst" category.

same, I could probably do the stats stuff, but listed the best and worst as a person who only gets commissions doesn't seem right. There's definitely a few that stand out from the rest and the people who drew them know who they are but listing the worst kinda would feel blah, granted it would be more of the worst as in "I love it but I love I love the other ones more" kinda worst, but in the same regards it wouldn't it or the artist who drew it.

OK so... how about:

* Most Faved:

* Least Faved:

* Most Commented:

* Most Anticipated:

* Biggest Surprise:

* Best Example of Two-Click Rule:

We could, uh, probably leave that last one out...

So these would be our own drawings? or those of others? I know I'm the rookie around here, but I'd like to be almost-active.

Yours, or those of your characters/in your collection.

As far as screenshots go, I nabbed one recently that I think is the best one I ever had the luck to get.

Yeah, sorry guys, just to be clear, as an artist I feel comfortable puttin up a picture that I'd say was my 'worst' of the year. But if you're getting gift art and such, it's probably not in the same spirit.

Soul's idea sounds good, although I'm changing Least Faved to Most viewed, as half of mine are least faved with no faves to them lol.

* Most Faved: Herricane by baquitania

* Most Viewed: Hericane 2 by David Nakayama

* Most Commented: Magdalena by Humberto Ramos

* Most Anticipated: this one was a tie for me between Clash of the Titannesses by imagesbyalex and Hericane by rplatt. Fairly obvious why Clash was anticipated, especially with how much Alex updated it. And with Russ's I was kinda curious to see how he'd draw Heri, since she's not really sexy sexy and curvy, compared to Herri anyway heh.

* Biggest Surprise: can't link it here, but it was a colored gift piece from Russ Platt, pretty sure you can find it if you really want to see it.

* Best Example of Two-Click Rule: I only have three of these. the already mentioned Russ Platt piece, one from imagesbyalex and another by baquitania.

What a great idea! I love seeing other folks' thoughts (and having a new excuse to browse galleries). It's really hard to pick mine, though. I love all my arts! Hmmmm...

* Most Faved and Most Commented: Busting Heads by Brandon McKinney The centerpiece of my collection.

* Most Viewed: PinUp Girl by Daggerpoint. The definitive PinUp Girl.

* Most Anticipated: Again, it has to be Busting Heads by Brandon McKinney. This is a piece I've wanted for a long time.

* Biggest Surprise: I've been so fortunate as to receive many wonderful gifts, and I love them all! I guess I'd have to say the most surprising has been the astounding generosity of ProphetX. Not only has he done several gift pieces of CoH characters (PinUp and Scarlet Specter), he's done a bunch of pieces related to my pen and paper Star Wars character. Truly a mensch.

* Best Example of Two-Click Rule: I don't really have a lot of two-clickers yet, sadly. But I guess RPlatt's recent take on PinUp Girl fits that description.

Can't wait to see more of these lists, and can't wait to see what art awaits us all in 2009.

I was not too surprised by the results of the views/faves/etc. of my commissioned pieces:

Most Fave'd: Murder Mystery by Graver

Most Commented on: After Work by Graver

I have more than one two-click works posted, mostly of Tanks for some reason, and you know how to find them.

In other categories, these are some I really like:

Who I put most of in my "Just Friggin' Awesome" folder: nebezial

Best 3-D Likenesses: fygomatic

Favorite "I Really Wanna Try Coloring This" artist: Mariah Benes

And a special Yippee! to Douglas Shuler and Wassy for the great gift pieces.

Ok. I'll throw in my stuff since I'm trying to keep my exposure up. I can't expect Chillkiller Inc. stock to rise without more exposure.

Thankfully my stats are easy to read, since I just started posting my stuff in September.

* Most Faved: Ironically, a non-CoH piece called "Where wolf?" has the most favorites. I see those crazy DA fans love the lycanthropes. I should post up my series of were-lemmings.

* Most Commented: My first completed sketch for the blueboards here, Baron Winter gets the most comments.

* Most Anticipated: I don't have any commissioned art or fan art, so I'm not really anticipating anything... I should post up some of my own characters. Maybe someone will take pity on me.

* Biggest Surprise: I found out there are no Girl Scouts in Girl Scout cookies! Yeah! I mean, is that deceptive advertising or what?!?!

* Best Example of Two-Click Rule: Um... Nothing posted. I don't really have anything in my non-posted stash anyway, but I'm not opposed to drawing the occassional Genus Baeolophus, Black-crested Titmouse. <- That's code for bewbies!

*2008 Closeout: Squeaked this one in under the wire for the new year: Scott McCade, Sidekick Extraordinaire. It had been lingering in the rough stage for months, but after working on stuff here, I got inspired and finished it up right before the 2009 hit.

Ok. That's all I have, other than my gratitude for keeping my thread alive and inspiring me with all of your own great art.

Thanks everyone!

Well, since none of my commissions are actually in my gallery, I'm going to have to link to the artists gallery. I'd rather the artist get the views and comments on the pieces they do for me, since it's really their work.

I cannot choose a favorite, so here's what I've got:

Most Viewed: Lady Omen and Lance by imagesbyalex

Most Faved and Anticipated (non-COX art) : The Inclusion by graver13

Biggest Surprise: Happy Birthday Kheprera by imagesbyalex

Favorite Pose: Lady Omen by imagesbyalex

Most Honored Collaboration: Ignia Elemenia by graver13

I was going to get in on this, but then I realized I didn't do a whole bunch last year. Will have to rectify that this year.

First I need to get my magic TV fixed so I can scan stuff in....

Interesting idea. Here's what I've got. Actually a couple of surprises here.

* Most Faved: Larissa Cartoon - I guess I should pay closer attention to my stats since Larissa was one of the very few 'animated' pieces I'd done all year. But between you and me, I think it was the ice bra that did it.

* Most Commented:
Lego Statesman - This one was a bit of a surprise to me. I guess ol' States is a hotter topic than I first thought.

* Most Viewed - Lego 8 Baller - a little surprised that this ended up being my most viewed of 2008, but I have to admit I'm glad 8 made the list somewhere.

* Longest Piece to Create: - Confederate States of America - my first group piece and I still thank War Patriot for hanging in there throughout the process. Oddly enough, the piece I'm currently working on for his hero group may end up being the longest piece in 2009.

* Personal Favorite: Photo Chick - Yes, it's my wife's main toon, but honestly I really like the character concept and I'm pretty happy with how the sketch turned out.

Biggest Thing Learned from 2008 - It's a toss up between: "Apparently I need to do more animated characters." and "OMG group shots take much longer to create than individuals."

I hope everyone has a super '09.

Todd

Hmmm... just realized I feel decidedly short or my art collecting goals this year... Guess I'll have to make up for it this year

<ul type="square">[*]MOST FAVORITE: With out question goes to Desmodas by Lilwassu , AKA Wassy. The entire experience from communication to final product was the most enjoyable art commission experience to date. Thanks again Wassy.[*]BIGGEST SURPRISE: Desmodas by Gammaknight was the first artist whose attempted to capture the 'softer' side of Desmodas. This was a PROMO piece and had it been suggested to me as a commission I would have said no. Lucky me I wasn't asked because I really like this one.[*]MOST ANTICIPATED: Desmodas by ImagesbyAlex After seeing so many of Alex's quick sketches, I was thrilled to get on his queue. Having given no direction, I was eager to see the direction he would chose to go. This was a close runner up for most surprised because it never would have occurred to me.[*]I JUST GOTTA MENTION: Desmodas by John Becaro doesn't really into any "most" category that I can come up with, but I can't omit it from any "Best of 2008" listing. There are so many elements for this piece that are just done so well; her hair, the wings, the costume. I was particularly impressed how 'in game' the background is for a commission that did not call for a detailed background.[/list]
Best thing about making these types of lists; now I'm really excited about 2009's line up
