MMs in PvP? Why don;t they work?
you never fought a good mm is what I am going to guess.

could be... I just found it curious how I would think they'd be a lot harder. One of those MM was used by a guy who would regularly wreck havoc on me with his blapper, and we would fight pretty even with his other toons.
a storm mm should do the trick. and i bet the fact that pvp mobs got a boost, that mm pets also got a minor boost as well.
maybe he wasn't smart enough to stay in body guard mode.
or didn't know of bodyguard mode? only people who post know about it. he doesnt have too many posts.....
in pvp a mm in bodyguard mode has more durablity than a tank. that is probably why they get zero resistance to damage ( a issue 13 bonus) in pvp zones. and why almost everyone else gets bonuses.

Debate should never start with a negative, but this time I will make an exception.
Ever since I began dabling in PvP, I always thought that MM would rule. On one side, you have a single combatant. On the other, you have an entire team. That is till I have fought against MMs. I have fought against about 5 MM in arena and in zone, and I have won every single time! And it;s not even a hard battle. I am not saying this to brag, cause I know that I am still a novice at PvP. I concentrate on the MM and ignore the minions.
Is it me, or are they simply not good in PvP?
Is there a way to make a PvP mastermind?

You're fighting bad masterminds.
Come to Freedom, we'll show you around.
If not, I have a storm mastermind on test built to wreck.
I lost one duel on it. To a fortunata. And it was my fault.

It depends what AT and powersets you were playing and against what type of MM(s)?
Prior to i13, I'd say it was pretty rare for melees to defeat most MMs. Some of the more skilled MMs could avoid blaster nukes if they saw them coming, and simply outclass a few other builds-- so it depends on a few factors.
Without more details, though, I'd assume the MMs you fought weren't that skilled if they were defeated 'easily'. They should at least hold their own if the fire is being focused directly on them, constantly.
If you got the jump on a poison, debuffing a blaster generally resulted in lolzy nukes.
The 2 builds I have used against MM were a Sonic/EM blaster and a Grav/elec Dom.
The blaster had Super jump. Basically I would jump in, shockwave to clear the minions and wail on the MM while jumping out. The jousting would keep the minions from properly targeting me.
The other was the Dom. Used the area hold on the minions, then the imobilization. Throw even the kitchen sink (literaly) at the MM. These I won by attrition. I would get dmg, but I would cause more.
what sort of mm was this again?
My necro/storm MM hasn't lost a duel yet, although I'm not saying it can't lose. I13 kind of destroyed my primary form of winning fights though... webnades + 2 -max runs used to movement floor almost everyone. Then my melee pets were on them like white on rice while I pushed them around with hurricane and dropped lstorms on them.
Of course, storm mms still have some advantages in pvp, such as some rather nice stuns.

This must have been a FF or a Dark MM, you can try this to a poison or storm your in for a rude wake up call. Noxious Gas FTW. The MM you did this too must have just sat there and did nothing, only thing i can think of. The only thing i have trouble with on my poison, is anything with high base Defense (forts, SR Brutes with Darkest night (Globey) or really well played Elec/Therms (Burnowatt). Everything else Poison will wreck.

It's quite common that a player can stomp you into the mud on his Blapper and at the same time get rocked by you while he's on his MM, as the two AT's pvp VERY differently. Some people cannot grasp the ability to pvp well with an MM, while others can.
That most probably was the case. one thing that got him was, incledibly enough the slow activation on the Gav/elec Dom. He would try to joust me, rushing in and out to hide behide soemthing so I could not target him. Curiously I usually have something in auto so when he gets into range, it shoots. I would usually hit him after he got behind a wall and thought he was safe.
MM's CAN be good in pvp, however they have one big negative, their relaitive lack of mobility in the zones, in the arena this is much less of a problem
In i13, MM's didn't get any defensive bonuses that most other ATs got. Neither did their pets. So while you got 40% resistance to everything (subject to DR) the MM got nothing. While you got a huge damage increase, the MM got a decent damage increase. But lets face it, MM damage sucks. It's their pets that do the real damage.
Basically, you do more damage and got some bonus resistance. The MM does slightly more damage (with his attacks, not his pets) and didn't get any bonus resistance. So you hit him harder and he got nothing to counter it.
That should be the case for most situations. I know I've 2 shotted Ownage on a necro/poison MM with my fire/rad after containment nerf. I've also beaten max fairly easily. But that was a while ago so unless he got a new uber build to counter me then
hmm.. wish i still had test...
i lost one duel on my storm mm...
just one out of around 16 or so on test.
gloom is sick if slotted right.
i recall mms were stinky in pvp at first......but bodyguard mode, and some new powers should have altered that. esp storm. nasty one that.
I have a merc/storm that is great in pvp and I have really only been beaten by 2 ATs (ill/storm and a fort) I feel that I have a good chance of winning every time I pvp with it.

This is no longer true. An MM with personal attacks in the new PvP is probably going to be doing around 55-60% of his total damage output themselves if they have the right patron (i.e. Leviathan).
It mainly has to do with the fact that pets got no damage increase whatsoever.
i don't like to fight MMs for one reason - they are TOUHG man..too tough and very hard to fight (poison or storm MMs are specially annoying)...if you are disappointed with MM you didn't see good one
Knockout blow from Lev does about 350-400 Dmg after poison debuffs...if that is not enough dmg..i don't know what is.
600 damage from my elec dom after p-ray. then back into my pff.
oh snap.
