We had a good crowd last night!

Our WINNERS

Join us next week for another exciting installment of DDH's Sunday Night Costume Clash!!

March 22, 2009 we will be judging based on THIS color palette.

Be creative, have fun and don't forget to tell your friends, SGmates and coalitions. Remember the more people we get to fill the square the better the prizes can get!

Can't make our SNCC?

If you cannot make it to our weekly SNCC due to personal obligations elsewhere, we are offering a submission based contest for you guys.

A new color palette will be chosen each Monday and submissions need to be posted on the DDH site by 12am cst the following Saturday. Please see this page for this week's details.

All winners will be posted in this thread along with the SNCC winners.

Thank you DDH for hosting the contest. I have to say based on this post I thought the criteria this week would actually be on using the color pallette. DDH does a great job hosting and backing this contest every week and they can judge however they choose but I think it would have been nice to have seen the winners chosen from the people who did stick to the color pallette. I know there was more than one person there who put in the extra effort and time to rise to the challenge.

Sticking to the contest criteria in the forums would be a great way to continue to encourage forum use and I think that its great that you do encourage forum and website use. I find myself looking forward to the Sunday night contest every week, even though I haven't yet gotten so much as a nod. I think I need to be more scantily clad.

I'd like to start off by thanking you guys for your weekly contest I look forward to it everyweek I think you guys should keep up the special criteria but have everyone that goes along with it to step up fist and choose one to win the prize then alone them to switch toons for the regular cc or just have the first place winner be the winner of the people that try for that dress code of that week.. I won this weeks but when i got in the voting room there were people that had no idea anyone actually did it so we should all step aside at the begining of voting so our effots are more easly noticed.

That's a great idea. Congratulations on your win.

My boyfriend lowered himself to actually wearing pink in an effort to incorporate all five colors. If he'd been acknowledged we could have had more fun teasing him about it. I did wonder if it was just hard to pick out the people who had gone with the pallette in the crowd, I made a real effort to use all the colors without looking unnatural and I might have just been too subtle with them. (unnatural aside from the yellow skin of course)

I didn't use all five colorsi just used three I didn't even think of using all of them. Maybe have the people who go along with it stand by the flag or on top of atlas. I can't wait to see if theres another new contest this week like missing a limb would be cool. If not though I got a pretty good idea of what I'm gonna do.

First off, I would like to thank everyone for attending and also thank you all for your interests and feedback. As always, I will consolidate all constructive ideas and bring them forward to our weekly SG Alcoholics UnAnonymous meeting. This next contest will have a deeper focus on the palette itself, I hope that answers several potential inquiries. Be sure to let your friends know about the contest!

If I may make a suggestion,it would be to continually update the original post with the current CC info Time, place, prizes, requirements, themes, etc.

I was Bloodshot Archer. I honestly did not know about a palette. I just saw the chat ad that was posted. Thanks for letting me take part anyway. But now that I know about it. OFF TO THE TAILOR!!!!! (for next weeks contest)

Again. Nice base, T!

Posted

Oh yea! That's why I told the judges to pick what they wanted! Nobody knew about the palette? Honestly?! Considering that only 4 our of every 5 players use the forums anyway.

So everyone, tell your friends, SGmates and Coalitions to head to the tailor, make a new toon and come out to have a good time!

I never used the forums before but i just started to this week and i know half the chrowd are randoms that just seen an announcement(I used to be one) so i say we dont punish them but there should be more concideration for next time. btw is that sample up there the palette for this week?

Posted

Yes, it is. Hope to see ya there.

Posted

How exactly are we punishing them for not checking the forums? They don't lose anything, then again they 'may' not gain anything. We promote forum use each contest so if you use the forums, you will have an advantage over those who don't. Those who still do not use the forums are only punishing themselves. Knowledge not invested is knowledge wasted.

We have discussed different options of how to alleviate the last 2 pages. We'll see if we can come up with anything that works.

The pic of Grim Releaver is now posted. You can check it out HERE.

I think I was only trying to say that if you're going to have guidelines stating you will be judging based on that criteria..you should follow them or at least give preference to those who do. Its disappointing to put in the extra effort..to look forward to the event and then see that the criteria was quickly abandoned. I do not think giving preference to active and engaged participants is punishment, ultimately I think it would encourage more active participation in the future. DDH is a well established guild and the costume contest is a well managed, publized and respected enough event that it will not suffer from upholding its standards.

Again, it is DDH's event and its done generously and faithfully and I do not want to come down on the judges. Thank you for taking our viewpoints and suggestions into consideration.

If it wasn't for you contestants, we'd just be spamming AP. Of course your suggestions are important!

We are in the business in providing results. Our philosophies, activities, and attitudes in DDH revolve around each day striving to be better tomorrow than we were yesterday.

If anyone's SG(s) have Guildportal pages, you can ally with us, if it'll make it easier for time/place/prizes/etc. We share most of our events with alliances.

As we move on to our next few SNCC's working out bugs and defects in planning, themes and criteria - which I am hoping more people will take the time to either follow palettes/themes or join us for the first time This was our first week using a color palette and I did not expect it to go over like it did or have it followed at all. As I stated earlier, I told the judges to pick what they wanted as I did not see enough detail of what I could see of palette colors.

We are generous enough to give our hard earned influence, we enjoy the results being worth it.

Exactly, we smuggled a lot of our goodies from freedom in the character transfers. I have let my sgmate know that if and when all sides are full, we are to release some to the public. I mean sure we could sell them to the market and get enough influence to several months of hosted cc's but it is SO MUCH MORE GRATIFYING to see a mass fellowship under the almighty butt of Atlas!

Join us tonight at 10 pm est/9 pm cst! Priority judging goes to color paletted toons :P
