Smurfy question

I have a small (three years old) problem.

My 3 year old neice loves to watch me play CoH/Cov on saturday afternoons.

She has just been introduced to the Smurfs through recordings my mom made when my youngest sister (the neice's mother) was growing up. She has latched onto the smurfs (as any self-respecting child would); but she also understands I can 'make' any character I wish in Co*.

She wants me to make a smurf. When I asked which smurf, she said she wanted one who was like the nurses at the clinic my mom goes to for her meds and I go to for Physical therepy. In other words, Nurse Smurf.

My problem: which server is best for roleplaying a Smurfy Empath/archer Defender?

My neice wants a smurf and I know she will expect roleplaying. I have promised to have Nurse Smurf ready this saturday afternoon. This strong-willed little dynamo will hold me to that promise.

She will know when saturday is because she goes directly from watching cartoons to watching me play Co*.

Virtue is the server most of the people who roleplay ingame congregate on. Theres the odd one on the other servers, but way more of them on that one.

Nurse Smurf is now at Miss Liberty on Virtue server.

I was really disappointed I could not give her smurfy blue skin, a smurfy hat, smurfy shoes, ot even a nurse's hat.

Considering that hospitals will be an obvious candidate for day jobs, you may get your wish in I-13. In any case, a posting in Jay's costume suggestions thread over in the dev's section would be appropriate.

If your niece recognizes what a surgeon looks like, you can make that look pretty easily. Maybe Doctor Smurf would acceptable to her.

You can give her blue skin! And I woulda recommended Pinnacle as a server for such a toon. Either way, good luck!

I gave Nurse Smurf the darkest blue skin available; but it is nowhere close to the dark blue of a true smurf.

Hanna doesn't know a surgeon. She knows nurses only because it's the nurses who look after her when my mother and I are occupied.

I think I did a good bit. The gloves and bottoms are smurfy blue sleek tights. Her dress is long and pleated, white, and has smurf blue trim.

She has Smurfete's long golden hair (but no hat).

The only way my niece will see the toon's skin is not smurf blue is to see the toon's face.

Try the 'masks with hair' option, Cuddles. That way you can colour the face just about anything, as long as you don't mind it being... well, a mask

Now THAT is a wonderful idea. I'll create a test toon to see if it works and recreate Nurse Smurf if it does.

Gosh you RPG'ers are clever (as if THAT were a surprise).

It worked fan-damn-tastic!!!

Nurse Smurf looks very much like a smurf, now.

The only problem... she's 39 inches tall, not three apples tall. I don't think you RPG'ers can figure a way to make her shorter, can you?

nope, that's where your own RP skills come into play! I'm sure you'll do fine with it tho And as long as you and your neice are satisfied with the toon, then thats all that matters! Have fun!

I ran Nurse Smurf today with my niece watching. We both enjoyed it. N.S. first joined a sewer team and that team said hello to Hanna, bringing her first to giggles, then laughter.

After everyone got to fifth level, we went into KR to get the raptor pack. Hanna enjoyed watching everything and the team was fantastic letting N.S. just heal and threaten to give the mobs shots (after all, smurfs don't attack, it's not smurfy).

I'm happy to say the team fared quite well with TWO empath healers (PPD combat medic was the other). N.S. got her rez, then Medic did; but we had very little need for it.

I'm running NS heavily now without Hanna watching. Though she now has the raptor pack; she doesn't look very smurfy using it to fly.

I'm hoping to get the 'fly' power at level 14 before Hanna comes to watch saturday afternoon. IMHO, a smurf would look more smurfy flying by magic than with a large technological device strapped to her back.

A group of players called to me last saturday before I joined that sewer team. They wanted to see Nurse Smurf. They said they would report to this forum how 'smurfy' she looked; but appearently they decided not to.

Check in the Virtue boards for my post on how Smurfy you look! My thread is called "Nurse Smurf", I'm sure you'll find it quick!

I will post here now, tho, that you indeed look most smurf-tacular! *smiles*

I have been trying to post screenshots and I have had several other players take screenshots of Nurse Smurf. None of the screen shots are showing up in the gallery. What's wrong?

um ... idk, lemme meet you under Atlas again, and I'll take some screenies of you and try to post them kk?

when you hit the print screen button, the screencap should be saved in the folder that has coh under a subfolder called screenshots for me it's d:/program files/City of Heroes/Screenshots they don't automatically go to the website's gallery unless you choose to upload them there. You could also upload them to a site like photobucket and then give us links.

Anyway it sounds awesome... btw my friend runs a hobby store so I happen to know that it's the 50th Anniversary of the Smurfs there are new figures out by a company called Schliech (German company makes very good toys)

they're excellent toys for younger kids in the 3 yo range since they have no moving or small parts... Just so you know they are out there, if you want to pick them up for you niece for Christmas or something.

Going there now.

Maybe we should arrange a time. I normally can't get online during the week before midnight (central time). I have been lucky thus far this week. Maybe I'll be clear tommorrow; but I doubt it.

Thank you GnaCoh.

I just found the file of all the sreenshots I've been trying. It was in my computer files.

Now I just have to figure how to post them in this forum

Since you know where the pictures are now, you can just create a Photobucket account or something similar, upload the pictures pertaining to her, and use the URL command inherent on each picture.

Then, just go ahead and paste that here, and it'll link us directly to the picture.

I was thinking of linking the entire file (39 screenshots).

photobucket?

hoping I can access that as photobucket.com
