I just got a mass-mailout from MMOART today regarding the 'reboot'. Hopefully, it will reach all of their old customers so that they'll all have the option of continuing on with them or not.
((odd though, how did the whole mass-email work if... ah, nm.))

Interesting... I had signed up for the email list before and haven't seen this update. I wonder how the emails were generated for this to be sent to.
Huron: "...with Coffee primary / Attitude secondary"
Charnage: "Please. Think of the poor defenseless desks."
"The Babylon Project was our last, best hope for peace. It failed... In the year of the Praetorian War, it became something greater... our last, best hope for victory."

Um... just for clarification...
Gill's posted response on his website is that he lost all his customer's emails and will be getting back to them shortly because his email database was "lost." I put quotes because I'm not sure if it was corrupted, the computer broke, etc...
So he had no one's emails.
Now he's sent out a mass email of everyone on his list or just the people that contacted him?

I never had any contact with him, just registered at his site, and I received the Reboot mailer.

Hey guys, I just got back from a vacation to find my completed piece by GB. It turned out like I was hoping and I hope that this "reboot" goes smoother than the past has.
I have to say though, in all honesty, I was looking forward to a 3 way artist take on my Omega Brothers.
Now Juggy, what's a guy gotta do to possibly go through with that (for some sort of compensation, of course). I am startin to salivate for more artz...
I will say again though, this is the best forum group I have come across.
Catch y'all on the flip side!

Forgot to say, I can be removed from the list seeing as I got my commission from him.

if those other guys do it, I can finish my end of it.
I truly, really, really hope that everything goes well for everyone here and that MMOart catches up and surpasses it's reputation for art and builds a solid one for reliability.
As someone whose profession involves human interaction, this is what I have to offer:
When a business/person 'drops off the planet' more than once, you can vastly increase your expectation that it will happen again.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the results to be different.
Having said that, EVERYONE has the capacity to change. Indeed, if we didn't, we'd still be hunting with Grandma's femur and grunting.
I, too, received the bulk email and I, too, kinda-sorta had a strange feeling about it. If Outlook crashed - an entirely understandable scenario, the forums didn't, DA didn't etc. etc. and there was nothing to stop MMO from letting as many people know as possible that there were serious problems.
There are some overdue pieces there that are not on the list. Without complete transparencey, it is hard to trust motive.
The problem with trust is that it takes a while to establish and a few seconds to blow. Then it is much, much harder to rebuild.
Having watching MMOart over TA's shoulder for a couple of years now, I sincerely admire the quality of art, but the business side has truly done some self-defeating things and unless the changes are radical and thorough, this will happen again. They have all the right "accountability speak" on their website and email, but what they do rather than say, will be the testament.
I am hoping for the best. The art is amazing and the people of MMOart seem like such good people. Perhaps just not good business people.
To Juggy and all the artists who stepped up - you are really a cut above - I salute you.

agreed. I pulled my 2 commissions, and I think a few others have as well, so that may be why the queue looks different. I figured there might not be time between now and the next time the site goes dark for him to finish them, so getting my money back is the best course of action.
Once I get my refund, I'll find another artist for the pieces and hopefully have better luck.

Well this whole thing is a bit awkward but i liken it to employing my lil brother.
Veik i totally agree with your post 100%. I am rooting for the Kindred family like always. I consider the people behind MMOart to be good friends of mine and i have always been behind them all the way.
But there comes the time to seperate personal friendship with business relationship. I am opting to get a refund simply for the reasons Sassy pointed out above. As much as i really want more Jomaro art in my gallery (The man is amazing), I don't trust that i will ever have the completed pieces.
I see repetition be on and a pattern formulating over the sudden crashes and 3 month absences and i don't wanna keep going through it. That plus i have some serious financial stuff going on so the money could help me out.
Personally i wish MMOart nothing but success and if the chance ever comes back again i'll be getting more commissions from them for sure.
For now like when i fired my lil brother on his birthday, i am gonna have to bow out.
