This may be a glitch or exploit, but in this video I can see what appears to be a Crab in a Cape starting at 1:33 and again at 2:55, where a caped villain attacks with what seems to be the backpack.

If this is not an intended feature, then it must be a mistake or old beta.

[/ QUOTE ]That's an old beta build, as you can tell since hte Bane Spider still uses the peacebringer build up animation. There was a way to add a cape for a time with the backpack, but required being a crab spider, first. That bug should be fixed. So no you can't make the son of Recluse clone.

Ah, had a feeling you might know. Damn... Ah well, I still like the look of the Crab.

Hey Silverspar,
Under Crab Spiders, do you think you could add this question and its answer?
Q: "If Crab Spiders can't access back details, can they wear trench coats?"
A: "Yes, Crab Spiders can wear trench coats."
Or is that covered under 'any' back options as well? I swear I've seen Crabs with trench coats though...
Thanks!

[/ QUOTE ]You might of saw my crab, which was wearing the tuxedo. That's a jacket and not a trenchcoat as trenchcoats typically fall under the back option.

I dont recall having a trenchcoat option in my list, but then again, I typically don't put one on unless it fits the theme of my character.

Much better than Cats! I'm going to read it again and again!

P.S. What say you to the debate about Bane burst damage vs. Night Widow burst damage Silverspar? IMO Bane burst outdoes NW burst due to Surveillance, and they can bring that burst more often thanks to the faster recharge. What's your view on this?

[/ QUOTE ]My opinion, banes are more offensively minded, while widows are defensively minded. Widows have more defensive capabilities to add to a team, while a bane provides more offensive powers, and has offensive controls, such as Knockback and stuns. In this regard, I feel banes are more offensively midned, and because of faster recharge than widow attacks are capable of more damage output than widows.

One additional question on VEAT PvP Stealth caps. What are the caps for each VEAT, and how much Stealth do they get with just their base powers?

I think I remember seeing a 500 cap on my Bane, which he was at with just the Cloaking Device. I could be misremembering, though. Having a cap higher than 500 would be nice. Not as much as Stalkers to keep from stepping on their toes even more than we already are, but higher than 500 would be very nice.

Great job on the guide/faq.

I liked the preview you gave us in Beta and I like it now. I'm sure this will be VERY helpful to those just beginning to explore VEATs.

Not sure if this counts as an FAQ, but here it is:

What mez protection does each VEAT branch get? I'm looking for a one-stop answer in the form of:

AT/Branch -
Mag X against effect A/B/C/D via power P
Mag Y against effect E/F via power Q

etc.

Thank you in advance!

[/ QUOTE ]Widows can get mag 10.4 mez protection from Indomitable Will at level 50.

Banes can get up to mag 6 mez protection from both armors.

Crabs can get up to mag 14.3 mez protection with both armors and fortification.

I love this guide. I have made a few SoAs. and this guide clearly shows me which way that i want to go.

A well-written and laid-out guide, indeed! I especially like the pointing out that the new SoAs don't translate into existing AT! I hate it when people try to cram stuff into boxes that don't fit!

I'm happily enjoying my Wolf Spider far more than I ever enjoyed the Kheldians. I'm so glad we didn't just get redside equivalents of Peacebringers and Warshades!

With regards to the Bane Path, If I created a toon with the first slot costume designed to look like a Wolf Spider and I branch into Bane at 24, will I keep my Wolf Spider or will it alter my look like it does with crab by slapping that hurting backpack on? Also if I keep some of my Wolf attacks like Burst, will I still draw out my money machine gun or does it translate it to mace.

Fingers crossed that the answers are No and Yes respectively.

Crabs have backpacks, Banes have maces.

Crabs and Banes can take gun attacks, but they do have to draw the gun first.

Crabs can get away with wolf gunning for Wide Area Web Grenade or Heavy Burst, since they can draw the gun before a fight, launch a salvo, and then cycle their crab attacks.

Avoid gun attacks on a bane. If you attack with the gun, you put away your mace. Banes redraw twice for gun attacks - once to get the gun out, and again to get the mace back.

What are the PATRON powers available for each VEAT? I was looking for this info, but didn't really see anything.

I did see some posts that made it appear that Crabs have the Brute powers... what do Widows and Fortunatas get? Power wise (not GW, Mako, etc).

Thanks,
-r0y

Can Soldiers of Arachnos learn Patron Powers?
Yes, they can. They both get access to the brute Patron Power Pools.
