COH Heroes as RPG Characters
Ooh very cool!
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Heh. Very nifty.
I've often thought of adapting a few of my characters to the DC Heroes system, as I play on a MUX that uses it. <.< Which'd mean before playing there, I'd have to properly stat them for it.
Now inspired to try it again! Hm..
Cool.
Most of my characters started out as Champions RPG characters. Omen (Lady Omen on CoH since the name was taken) is a character I've had for twenty years. Kheprera I've had in various incarnations for around thirteen years.

A couple of years ago, I really had fun doing fully costumized RPG character sheets, and after recently having an interesting debate with a friend, I tried to adapt one of my COH characters into a RPG format (Case in point: Unisystem, the system that was going to be used in Eden's adaptation of COH to RPG):

I wish I knew about that game system but just looking at this:
Attractivness: 2 - *blinks* ok so if that's a 2 what does the scale go up to (Or was that your dump stat?)
Drawbacks: Fear of Commitment.... Sorry, not seeing the problem here >.>

I really, really like that. The Eden System is great, and I played Angel and Buffy using the system and Corebooks designed for the RPG conversions.
I also loved the old Classic Marvel Superhero RPG by TSR that came out in the 1980's.
Here's Comrade Hero Classic Marvel RPG.
I always found the Marvel system great for outlining and placing a character on a known scale of heroic traits.
It was great for outlining a character even if ultimately you were going to use another system, because you could say--he's stronger than spider-man, but not as strong as Thor and muck around till you get a reasonable idea of where the stat should fall--after doing things like that for each stat, you then have an outline to go to any other system that places squarely where you feel their abilities go.
Playing it was fast and fun too, but ultimately not as satisfying as some others out there DC first among them--that was a killer system!
This is kinda neat, there was anotehr hero RPG that I used to play called Heroes Unlimited. That was an interesting system and really good for detailing out a characters backround, unfourtunatly it kinda tanked and not alot of people around me at the time played it.

I made MarDun from a concept I had from an old Villains and Vigilantes character I played.

I enjoyed it, but I tell you I've had easier Calc tests. That was a pain in the posterior to moderate. V&V I mean.
I actually still have the quickstart PDF they put out for the COH RPG--interesting I'll say that much--great graphics too.
Marvel Super Heroes was my first super hero rpg back in the 80's until I found Champions but the amount of math it took to create a character was upsetting for a 5th grader who felt like he was back in school. Later on I was introduced to Heroes Unlimited (and later Villains Unlimited). It was part of the Paladium System and as such you could incorporate RIFTs, TMNT, Ninjas & Superspies, etc. To me that system was perfect for the genre and it used percentile dice, which I always dug.
same for me on Marvel Super Heroes. It was one of the first and last tabletop RPGs I played. Never really got into them. I'd have to look at the Marvel sheets again to get an idea of how to make one for any of my characters.

You can find in this page a link to download WitchCraft corebook which is also Unisystem (although Monty's powers don't show up in there, since I had to go borrow Armageddon powers to represent her Regen and her Dual Blades).
Fear of Commitment is an actual drawback in the game -- it simply shows that she has problems letting people coming too close to her and trusting people and actually have a stable relationship. It's not a very complicated drawback (it's only worth 1 point).
Attractiveness is not a stat, but an Advantage. Everyone starts at Attractiveness 0 (no bonus) ie normal appearance. The max is 5, so, at 2, Monty is moderately attractive (above average) but is not drop dead gorgeous. Top models are in the range of 3/4 and 5 is like THE most beautiful woman in the country.

oh wow, that's pretty cool. Yup I had the core books and basic maps. I'll check those if I'm ever interested, which is doubtful, but possible, in tabletop RPGing again.

I truly miss Table Top RPG's --most fun you can have with your clothes on. But anymore getting a regular group together is like trying to keep a garage band together--only you know you'll never get paid to game.
PBEM is pretty good--but it lacks the spontaneity of Table top---a good second in the fun department.
I've been playing with mostly the same core group of players (we've cycled through a couple now and then) for about 6 years now. We still meet every Wednesday and play. Larissa originated in a tabletop rpg called Feng Shui, I'm also a huge whitewolf fan and Abberant.
Always wanted to play Abberant--no group--no books, no money--unable to work--sory, tmi and I'm getting depressed.
I'll go now.
The Unisystem developed by Eden is very nice and adaptable, I had a blast playing Buffy, Angel and Firefly.
I loved Vampire the Masquerade but got turned off by Vampire the Redemption and I still have the old classic TMNT and other Strangness RPG books.
I haven't played a good PnP RPG for a long time though.
Sigh.

Ahh, that's why I never was drawn to tabletops much, I'm not much into getting together with a group to do stuff very often. Only two RPGs I did for a while, translate that as a month or two was Marvel and then Battletech. Closest thing lately I've done is Heroclix, which I got into when the Independant set was released and I eventually caved and started playing with the regulars at my local comic book shop. Did that for 6 months, pretty godo for me, managed to trade out my Indy doubles to get some DC and Marvel ones so I didnt' also end up the first one out. heh. Eventually I just lost interest in it all. and sold my uniques to my comic book shop and gave the rest to the regulars, save my 4 Magdalena clix.
Heh I've only tried Chess PBEM. I'll agree if thats the only way you can mange to play its not too shabby but wouldn't be my first option.
