Wow, there's some good timing between the music and the video. The night fight actually looks the coolest to me.

It's...so... magical...

In a way, I'm just glad to see a video of heroes actually trying to shoot down rikti ships. Makes me wanna daydream about epic space fights now...

Good song choice btw...

And sorry if I'm not all gitty and enthusiastic as I have been in previous comments, I'm just starving for more adventure than paragon city. And don't say get a new MMO, I'm currently reaping the benefits of the "Good bye and thx for playing" shut down of Tabula rasa package. So that's $30 a month, and my allowance can only go so far .

Not bad at all in my opinion.

I just dunno why I'm so slummed out and not ecstatic about issue 13, might have to deal with going back to lvl 1 for new powers and everybody will be using shields and there's gonna be lots and lots of pain domination villains walking around pvp now.

But never-the-less, great video again.

I've been doing some uploading to WeGame and it's included some better quality versions of some of the old classics you can currently only get on YouTube. Here's a quick list of what I've done so far:

Hype Zero, Hype Won, and Hype Too (nice Christmas ending!)

Green Funk's Origins and I Need a Hero video.

The Operatives Sabotage! and Crash Landing videos.

Riverdane's Louie

A video I'm calling Victory HQ (it doesn't have a name as near as I can tell) by Poison Mistress and the Shiny supergroup.

Pirate King's CoH version of Bonnie Tyler's "I Need a Hero" and the first ever CoH video I ever saw - Rikti Invasion.

I did some of the Abyss family's videos, too, but you can get better versions off their website still.

Edit: Also just added The Pull in case any of you need reminding on the silliness of the olden days.

Even more vids uploaded to WeGame for higher quality than is found on YouTube....

Desolate Joker's BringMe to Life (love those spinning color trails near the start!)

Relentless' Paragon's Greatest Hero (the only high quality one I've got from you, Relentless - I have to make due with YouTube for my Smooth Criminal fixes!)

A video that's not on our list at all: Dreams- I'm still not certain who made it. Maybe it's on one of those URLs that flash by?

I'm trying to upload the Tink video from Paragon Pictures but WeGame keeps choking on it. I'm trying to help WeGame figure out why so the video is currently sitting on my own website at http://home.roadrunner.com/~dasloth/Tink.wmv but it will only be there for another month or so.

Edit: Interesting, the video dies when I try to view it on my website, too. Works fine off my hard drive, though.

I've been meaning to get my other videos uploaded to wegame for better quality, just haven't gotten around to it. I've also wanted to redo "Paragon's Greatest Hero" just to get a better quality video overall, since the "high quality" version isn't so high quality. One of these days...

Anyhoo I'll try and remember to get my other videos up to wegame over the weekend .

Just to note, to anyone who might be looking for it, the URL for Apollinaris goes to 50 has changed. I had to move the video from one youtube account to another. The new URL for Apollinaris goes to 50 is in these links.

For anyone who's looking, I've added annotations to the video which highlight where a lot of the various pieces of footage are taken and when.

A notice to those who like my work - the YouTube link for my infamous "Time to Start" video no longer works, thanks to a complaint submitted to YouTube re: that whole copyright thing. The original is still on my website, though.

I don't get it. I thought it was only considered copyrighting when you were actually making a profit off it. Why all the hate on somebodies "video game" movie....simply corporate greed is what I call it.

Nope. That's why CoH isn't likely to ever allow music that they don't own being in a video contest. And there's good reason, too.

Say I write a real good book and it gets published. Then a bigger publisher who wants to put my publisher out of business decides to copy the book. However, instead of selling it, they give it away free. They make sure there are stacks of them at every bookstore and they give enough to Amazon so Amazon can give away a free copy with the order of any book. The big company will take a big loss but sales of my book will go to pretty near zero, putting my publisher out of business. Tactics like that mean the copyright laws have to include free distributions.

There are some exceptions (fair use, educational purposes, parodies) but hardly any machinima has a shot at any of those.

Personally, if you want to take shots at the copyright system, I would aim for the time it takes for a copyright to expire. Right now they last 70 years and the clock doesn't start ticking until the last author has died. I'm thinking 10 years after first publication would be a lot more fair.

What about Movie music? Such as Superman, Batman, or any orchestrated Themes in movies? Do they also carry these copyright laws that are so strict?

Sooo I'm in High school still and that simply sounds like a copywrite-monopoly.

Simply. copy, give away, then reap being the best! That's about it.

Oh and sorry if I have not posted lately, I'm going insane with MMO stuff of late and my CoH game went slow-motion. Fixed that by getting the pound of lint off of the video card. But now my CoH game is glitching like I have 2 fps, so in other words, I'm experiencing some technical difficulties.

So unless you, yourself, happen to own your own orchestra and happen to write your own music, and happen to be genius enough to create such music, you basically can not have any music what-so-ever in any video made simply for fun from any game or otherwise, and post them on any web site, without taking a chance on getting sued for copyright infringement?

Nice, welcome to corporate America. I am ashamed we live in such a greedy world.

Actually, there are a lot of resources out there to either inexpensively purchase rights to or download music for productions...especially if you are a student. There are a lot of local bands in any locale who would love publicity. And sometimes, if you ask real nice, better-known bands will give you the ok (only prob there is if they've signed stuff over to a label...labels are jerks.) You just have to look around. The music I've used for my machinema series I've created in Garageband for the Mac. If you want to avoid copyright problems, you do what you have to do.

Frankly, if I was a musician, I'd appreciate it if people paid me for my work, or at least got my permission. I'm a writer, and we can have similar problems with people using work without even so much as a how-do-you-do. Had someone use an essay in a book, and only found out about it when I was bored on the 'net and did a search on my own name. They credited me, but still, it was a bit of a bite in the rump that they never bothered to contact (or compensate) me.

I've actually TRIED to get permission for almost every piece of music I use. Contacted Brand X Music (no response of any kind), most of the bands whose music I use (no response), and several of the artists whose scores I love (no response).

One group HAS actually given me permission to use their music, so one of my upcoming videos will be featuring them (following their instructions for how I use it), but most are just ignore us. Which is funny, because that's how I've gotten several people into the movies/bands I've featured in my videos.

May I ask what those instructions were? I mean, if I am using music for a video, I surely do not want anyone telling me where and how to implement that song into my video. Would defeat the purpose of using that song to begin with.

No, they said I could use their music as long as:

a) I gave them credit (which I do multiple times - in the tags, in the description, and in my end credits)
b) I include a link to their website (which I'll do both in my YouTube description and on my website)
c) they have the option to show my video to highlight their music, if they like what they see

But this is one band - this is by no means the norm.
