The Trick Arrow Enchiridion
Here's a question regarding Siphon Insight's proc:
Slot the Siphon Insight proc into Flash Arrow for Trick Arrow.
Is the chance to proc checked per use of the power, or per target affected?
If the check is per target affected ... can you get Siphon Insight to proc multiple times per use of Flash Arrow?
Note that since the Siphon Insight proc affects self only, it does not prematurely draw aggro by immediately alerting mobs affected by Flash Arrow of your presence (although they may still prefer you by default once aggroed since you were the first to debuff them).
Related Question:
Slot Analyze Weakness proc into Acid Arrow for Trick Arrow.
Is the chance to proc checked per use of the power, or per target affected?
If the check is per target affected ... can you get Analyze Weakness to proc multiple times per use of Acid Arrow?

Knowing the limitations Castle put on the Gaussian's and Achilles' Heel procs, though, I suspect they'll only check once at power activation, and only once, not once per critter.
General heads-up: As soon as I can find the time, I intend to fix the damage that was done in the forum move and make my guides readable again. No idea when, but I just wanted everyone to know that I'm aware of the mess and will be dealing with it as soon as I can.
Was able to score a Siphon Insight proc off WW last night. It has now been invented and slotted into Flash Arrow on my Grav/TA controller.
Monitoring the Healing Delivered channel revealed that the chance to proc is per use of power and not on a per target affected (ie. no multiple chances to proc in AoE powers). Using Flash Arrow on a group of 7 severely grey targets resulted in a low proc rate consistent with this mechanic.
Worse though, there was no power effect buff icon that appeared/applied to the character and monitoring the combat attributes for Base showed absolutely no movement on To Hit or any other parameter.
At this point, I'm wondering if the Siphon Insight proc even "works" properly.
The good news is that Flash Arrow remained aggro-less even when the proc (says it) went off. This is because the proc is not debuffing the targets.
Might be time to notify Castle about this one ...
I made a ninja/TA mm from info I can find and looking at your work alot.
How did I do? And any suggestions?

Slotting EMP Arrow for -Endurance is pointless. You don't have any other powers to use to drain foes, and you can't drain them to 100% or halt their Recovery to keep them there. By the time they're free of the Hold, they'll have enough endurance to start attacking you again immediately.
Try this.

Excellent read.
I made my first ta/arch last night.
I've got a question though and feel like a bit ridiculous for asking it.. how do I ignite OSA? I've tried to find the answer in wiki and on boards but my searching sort of sucks.
Cheers!

Just rolled a AR/TA Corr and got him to 20 recently . Any guides out there for that ?
Nova, I haven't written a guide, but I have experience with an A/TA Corruptor. It's a challenging class to play - Trick Arrow isn't a very powerful set for Corruptors - but I can offer a few pieces of advice, if you're soloing.
One is to six-slot ice arrow and max hold duration and recharge, and get some good accuracy as well, to have a half decent hold. Mitigation can be a problem for A/TA, and it really helps to be able to take a foe out of the fight. For that reason, you might want to do the same with Stunning Shot when it becomes available for you.
Another general rule that helps is to try to fight enemies that specialize in melee, so you can keep them all at range with Glue Arrow. Warriors are a good enemy choice in your 20s. Stuff that isn't stopped by Glue Arrow, like a lot of Tsoo, can be very annoying. As you've probably already found out, kiting/Glue arrow helps. Sometimes I fight with SS onto make kiting easier, though it's tough on the endurance. Sometimes if you circle glue patches as you shoot, stuff runs helplessly back and forth in the glue patch rather than attacking. Explosive arrow can also be part of your kite/hold/stun/slow routine, as the aoe knockback can be very helpful.
Sorry if this is a bit basic - you've probably discovered all of this - good luck to you, and remember, though it will never be an uber build, it will get easier with RoA/OSA down the road!

Awesome guide though, so thanks for that!
Im curious if you could repost the datachunk for the levelling build, I really love the TA/A conceptually and my Archer as well, but its difficult for my brain to work around basic levelling builds =(
Awesome guide though, so thanks for that! |
Here's a different leveling build for TA/A. As with the previous one, I left power selections at certain levels empty, to give you places to pick up pool powers, move powers around as you see fit or squeeze in more sharp, pointy sticks. Enhancements were also not included, but slots were placed as a recommendation based on power effects and, hopefully, a reasonable balance between soloing and teaming (i'm always a bit murky on what makes a good "team build", since i don't spend much time playing in teams). This build should give you plenty of leeway for pool powers and slotting early, mid and late in the game.
Also, this build assumes either standard SOs or generic common IOs will be used. Unused slots can be allocated to compensate for frankenslotting or IO set plans.

Do you have much experience with this combination of powers with the corrupter archetype? Im curious which works better between Defender and Corrupter, also if you have a good levelling build/reference for Corrupter as well, since you already showed me the Defender (which I'm thankful for).
how are you liking the little surprise that got tossed into I18 with the sped up animations for several archery attacks? I originally missed that in the patch notes and couldn't believe my eyes the first time I had my archer out and explosive arrow and stunning shot didn't take their usual 5 seconds to fire off

Great guide, thank you. Just rolled a TA/Dark Corrupter (not one TA/? Corruptor guide at all - wow). But this guide is a good help to me.
Somewhere (was it this thread?) they mention a healing arrow... what about an arrow that you shoot into the ground and it acts like a Triage Beacon ? Maybe it's been suggested, but it just popped into my head. At least it's not as bad as an arrow to your ally's heart to heal them - ouch ! LOL.
Where's the suggestion thread ?

I just rolled an A/TA corrupter (cues up Elude), and I knew I had to stop by here for the best information possible. Thank you, very much, for writing such an informative and in-depth guide. Expect a sweet potato pie from me in thanks.
